  • Luke Likes 'Negative'

Complain and complain and complain. Oh my, complain. Sounds bad, sounds bad when you complain, right? It does sound bad. And in English, when you complain, it means you are not happy or you are not satisfied, satisfied about something and you are annoyed, annoyed, so a little irritated, annoyed, irritated because something is wrong. And plenty, plenty of things can be wrong about your accommodation.

So let's have a look, let's have a look at some negative reviews, so opinions left by the guests, the guests who stayed at a place, and they are not really happy, they are quite annoyed and would like to complain about it.Are you ready for this much fun? Yeah, let's go.

So here's the first one about the noise, the noise, so the loud, unpleasant, unpleasant sound:

'So the evening noise was all the time, all the time and I had to keep the windows closed because of that which was very irritating and we couldn't get fresh air because of that'.

Alright, quite reasonable, so logical, reasonable, we don't like the noise. Here comes another one, another complaint, complaint:

'Okay, little light, little light and the lift broken, the lift was broken, the soap was missing, missing - so there was none - and the light in the kitchen cannot be turned off completely so it has to be on all the time'.

Fair enough, fair enough, good complaint, well done. And a lot of people complain about the check-in, so the way they get into the apartment. And here is one:

'So we couldn't get in and we had to stay 30 minutes outside and couldn't get the instructions because they were so complicated, so complicated and nobody, nobody even came, came to help us - that's bad, that's bad - so we had to text and take photos and finally we got in, finally. But overall - so all things together - overall very bad experience'.

Yeah, I agree, seems fair to complain, let's do it then. Yeah, and a lot of people complain about how much space they have, how much space they actually have, actually. Here is a good one:

'So, the single room is really a closet. It's really a closet, not a bedroom. You cannot think it's a room because it's so small. Plus, it doesn't have a window, it must be a closet then, not a bedroom. So good location and a wonderful balcony but it's really the size of a closet, not a bedroom'.

A good one, a good one, a good review. And what about the utilities, some utilities, facilities you can find around. Let's have a look:

'Oh the facilities, oh my God! So we tried one stove they had and one toaster and what happened? Every time we did that, every time we did that, the electricity would go off - so stop working - would go off'.

Quite useless if you want to use the appliances, useless, so there is no use for that, useless. I don't know how you can live like that. And maybe one more, one more here:

'It says here, it says here in the advertisement - advertisment, the official information about the apartment - that there is air conditioning but in fact, in fact it was two fans, two fans, not air conditioning, and the single bed in the ad, in the inadvertisement is really a mattress, is really a mattress that is lying on the floor. That's it, no bed, just a mattress'.

Oh my, you know what? I feel better already after reading all these negative, negative reviews. Good exercise really. So here is an idea for you. How about you complain to me in the comments? I would be very, very positive, positive to read it.

    My pleasure.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

  • Luke Likes 'Comfortable'

We would like to stay in a place, and we would like to sleep over there. We would like to cook, I guess, sometimes. We would like to have a good time, so have some fun over there. Obviously, we would like to have a place where we could wash ourselves, and we would like to be comfortable. That's all we need in a place where we stay on holiday.

And this is it. That's all we need. Not much, and a lot, a lot at the same time. And for that, we would welcome, we would welcome facilities, facilities, so things that make our stay comfortable and easy. Comfortable and easy. Facilities or amenities, amenities, facilities. Both would be fine. Are you very, very comfortable? Are you very, very comfortable, like I am?

So for a comfortable stay, I would love to have some facilities, like obvious ones, standard. So for example, does it have a single bed? Does it have a double bed? And what about fresh bedsheets? Or maybe a duvet? Duvet on a cold day. Also, the heating would be nice. the heating. If it's hot, then air conditioning would be a great thing to have.Car park is sometimes important when you travel by car, and, oh yeah, a lift, a lift. Don't forget about the lift if you travel with a lot of luggage. A lift.

Now, cooking facilities, cooking facilities, if you would like to do that on holiday. Not everyone likes that ,but I think it is nice to have. So, is there a kitchen? Or kitchenette, kitchenette, so just a small kitchen area in your flat, apartment. And what appliances does it have, obviously? Like a fridge, a cooker, a stove top, a stove top, so the place where you can cook your meals. But also small devices, like a toaster, or an essential one, essential, an essential one, an important one, a kettle, a kettle. Maybe an electric kettle, a coffee maker, maybe a coffee maker and a microwave, a microwave for heating up your meals. And a lot, a lot, a lot of kitchenware, so things you can find in a usual kitchen, like pots and plates and forks and spoons and stuff like that. Yeah, very important, essential, I would say.

And when it comes to the bathroom, yeah, you can't do without it, you can't, can you? No. So when you can't do without something, it means it is necessary, it is very, very needed, necessary, you can't do without it. You can't, you just can't. So shower and a bath, a toilet, but also maybe a washing machine, that would be nice. And to go with that, a clothes rack, so a place where you hang your clothes after washing, after washing. Maybe an iron, an iron, to iron your clothes, and an ironing board, ironing board. Small but essential. A hair dryer to dry your hair, and towels, obviously, but also some small things you can find around the bathroom area, so toiletries, toiletries, yeah, like soap and shampoo and some cosmetics. Yeah, that would make your life easier, definitely easier.

And last but not least, which means it is maybe the last one on the list, but it is definitely not the least important thing, last but not least, you will definitely need and appreciate, appreciate, so you will be glad that you have it, you will appreciate, the free wifi and a very good location with a wonderful, wonderful view, view. So you can sit down, lay back, lay back and make yourself comfortable. And maybe listen to your favourite podcast.

    Hmm. Good times.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

Do you maybe remember, do you remember what you were doing, you were doing, not are doing, you were doing on the 26th, 26th of November last year?

So November 26th, 2024, at 9.30 p.m., 9.30 p.m. ? That's very exact, exact, so detailed, detailed, exact. So, do you remember what you were doing at that exact time? Because I, I do, I do. I can tell you exactly what I was doing, I was doing, I was doing at that time.

'Oh why Luke, why? You must have such a great memory. Just brilliant'. Nope, nope, that's not that, not that. So I do remember what I was doing, thanks to, thanks to the magic, the magic of podcasting, podcasting.

But you remember what you were doing at that time? And what I was doing? Maybe you remember what I was doing and what was happening, what was happening around at that time.

So it was evening, it was evening 9.30 p.m., Tuesday, Tuesday evening, and I was, I was recording, I was recording and I was sitting at the desk and I was talking to you, I was talking to you about what was happening around me. Do you remember that? Maybe.

What was the weather like back then? Back then, so on that day. What was the weather like? Was it raining? Was it snowing. Was it cold? Was it warm? Maybe it was, maybe it was. Do you remember who was lying next to me, who was lying next to me when I was recording? Do you remember that?

And do you remember what was happening outside? What was happening, what was happening, what was going on, going on, happening outside? Maybe you remember something about my neighbours.

Were they sitting outside? Or maybe they were staying at home, they were staying at home and doing something else. What were they doing at that time? What were they doing at that time? Do you remember? I do, I do, I do exactly, exactly remember. I exactly remember what they were doing.

That was evening, that was quite late and not much was happening, not much was happening. Do you remember that, that not much was happening? Maybe you do, maybe you do.

And while I was recording and talking to you in English, I was drinking something, I was drinking something. Was it tea? Was it coffee? Was it water? Or maybe I was having something to eat. Do you remember? Oh was I smoking? ... No, I wasn't. Or maybe?

Yeah, the 26th of November, Tuesday evening last year, 9.30 p.m. What were you doing when you were listening to this podcast for the first time? Were you going to sleep or maybe you were just waking up? You were waking up and still lying in bed.

Maybe the next day you were lying in bed and you were listening to that episode for the first time. Was it raining back then or was it snowing? Was it hot? Was it cold outside? Maybe you were going for a walk or maybe you were running, you were out running and listening to that episode.

What were you doing? So you remember? Were you ironing? Were you ironing and listening? Were you doing the cleaning, were you cleaning up your apartment, your house? Or your garden? Were you cleaning your garden and you were listening to that episode for the first time?

Were you going to school or were you driving to work? Maybe you were coming back from work or from school and listening to that episode.

What was exactly happening on that evening, on that evening? Oh, how to find out, how to find out? It's not right here, right now, is it? It is right here, it is NOT right now. It's back then, in episode 21, 21.

You might go and find out for yourself.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

  • Luke Likes 'Coin Flip'

So I'm almost there, I'm almost there in Lisbon, in Lisbon, but still have to book the place. Oh gosh. So help me out here, help me out please. I'm down to three apartments to choose from. I'm down to three apartments to choose from and I don't know which one to choose.

Here it is, apartment number one. One bedroom, one double bed and one living room and one sofa bed over there. And that's an entire apartment for two people, that's 20 square metres.

Okay, and it is situated, situated in Lisbon City Centre, that's good. All the attractions nearby, I'm not sure about that, if all of them, but alright. That's fully equipped kitchen and modern appliances.

Alright, let me have a look. Okay, looks pretty standard, not very modern I have to say. Oh, the kitchen appliances could be a little better, looks a little old. And let's look outside. Oh, that's a wonderful view off the city, I love it. You can see red roofs from here, very nice old building, I think I love this one.

But let's have a look at apartment two. One bedroom apartment, one bedroom, large double bed and living room, sofa bed. Entire apartment, that's 25 square metres, that's enough.

Alright, and let me have a look at the pictures. Oh, the building looks very pretty. It looks definitely more modern than the previous one, more modern. All facilities, all facilities are very modern and look at this kitchen, yeah, modern appliances and the bathroom looks fantastic, very clean. Oh, I really like it there.

What are other facilities? Oh, here they are. There's lift, a lift and air conditioning. There's a coffee machine and dishwasher, everything here. It's a little more expensive, okay. But what about the view? Oh, it's nothing special really, but I really love the design inside. Very modern place and very very clean. Yeah, I would have to think about this one.

Okay, and apartment three. Okay, here it is. So one bedroom, one double bed and one living room, sofa bed. Entire apartment, oh, 71 square metres. That's huge, huge, big, very big, huge.

Okay, let's look at the pictures. Oh, loft apartment, loft apartment, industrial style. I quite like it.So this is a two level flat, so you take the stairs to get to the bedroom. Very modern and very classy and at the same time very simple.

And the facilities, the facilities over there include spacious kitchen, so a kitchen with a lot of space, that's cool. With all the appliances, very modern, a flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi obviously. There is a work space area here, that's very convenient, but not for holiday. And there's a balcony, which overlooks, overlooks the big square, which is quite pretty.

Yeah, and that's it. Those are the three options that I have and I'm still confused. I think I like the first and the last one most. So the loft apartment and the first one. A small and cosy apartment with a view of the city.

Hmm, okay, now I'm having a hard time choosing. It is a coin flip really. It's a flip of a coin. It's a flip of a coin. So, let's flip a coin. Alright, I've got a coin and heads - I'm staying in the small cosy apartment. tails - I'm going to the loft apartment. Hmm, maybe I'll go one more time. And one more.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

  • Luke Likes 'At Home'

Alright, come in, come in and make yourself at home. Make yourself at home. In English it means you can feel relaxed as if you were at your own place, at your own place. So make yourself at home and let me show you around. Let me show you around. So let me show you the place. Come in.

So this is the hallway. This is the hallway, the first part of the flat. And as you can see on the left there is a fitted wardrobe. It is fitted, so it is built in, built in the space that is available here, fitted wardrobe.

Alright, so let's go left first. Let's go left and this is the kitchen area. As you can see it is combined, it is combined so it is together with the living room space. So the kitchen area and it's quite small with plenty of kitchen cabinets, kitchen cabinets and kitchen drawers, drawers, for cups, plates, pans and pots and in general kitchenware, kitchenware, kitchen stuff.

There is a sink over here on the left and here on the right the oven. And the cooktop with the hob where you can cook your meals. Also there are some kitchen appliances, so kitchen equipment, appliances, like obviously the fridge, the most important piece of furniture in your flat, the freezer where you can freeze products, there is a dishwasher here and also some smaller appliances and stuff like that.

Oh and obviously there is a small table which is a kitchen island, kitchen island in the middle, with two bar stools, bar stools to special chairs for having your daily meals. It's not that big, but it's quite convenient because it has plenty of drawers so a lot of storage space.

And now let's move on to the living room area over here. Here is a nice coffee table in the middle. Here on the left there is a nice small sofa, two seater, two seater, so far for two people, and one comfortable armchair, love this armchair, here in front, and on the right a small footstool, a footstool, so a place where you can put your feet up when you're sitting, a footstool, or ottoman, yeah.

And as you can see it's a set, it's a set so they match, they match, which means they are similar and they go well together, they match. And opposite the sofa there is a nice big balcony door which overlooks the garden and the neighbourhood.

Yeah, and now opposite the kitchen there is another room, a study, so a place for work, or study. It's a nice place separated by a glass door, there is a small desk here on the left which is also a cabinet, and here opposite the desk there is a small sofa. But the main part of the room is here opposite in the middle, which is this giant bookcase that takes up all the wall here opposite. So plenty of space for books and work stuff.

Alright, and the last room, which is bedroom, is situated on the opposite end of the flat. It's all very light and simple. There is a big bed in the middle and two bedside tables on the sides, bedside tables, quite simple and cosy, cosy.

Here again there is a balcony door and a second balcony. It's smaller than the first one which offers plenty of shade on summer days.

Alright, that's pretty much it. Oh, there is also a bathroom, there is also a bathroom here across the hallway, with a big mirror and the wash basin in the centre part that lights up, lights up. So there is light around the mirror, which is cool. And here on the right shower and on the left the toilet obviously and also a washing machine and some cabinets for cosmetics and towels.

So would you like some coffee or anything? Would you like some cake? Please sit down and make yourself at home.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

  • Luke Likes 'Walk'

So I am a driver, I am a driver, I drive, but I don't think I'm good at it, I don't think I'm good at it. But I have to, I have to drive. Sometimes I would like to ride a car, not drive, ride, to be a passenger, but I drive, I have to drive. And I do that usually alone. Well probably too often, I drive too often.

But when it comes to, when it comes to the public transport, there are better ways, there are better ways, there are better ways to travel, to get around, get around the town, the city, to travel around. Yeah, I'm sure, not everywhere obviously.

So I guess the most fun way, the most fun way is to ride, to ride a bike, to ride a bike. Ride a scooter, maybe ride a scooter, quite dangerous these days, quite dangerous these days, so now, these days. I think, I think you'd better, you'd better, you had better, you'd better wear a helmet, a helmet when you ride a scooter , you ride a bike. Yeah, certainly, certainly, so of course, certainly, it is a lot of fun, it is a lot of fun. Not in winter, when the winter comes. It doesn't work, it just doesn't work.

But besides those, besides, so when we talk about other ways, other means of transport, ways, means, forms of transport, in a big city, in a big city, there is plenty, there is plenty. If you are lucky, if you are lucky enough, if you are lucky, you have the underground, the underground, this special train that runs under the ground. The underground, or the subway, they would say, the subway. Yeah, quite fast and convenient, convenient, comfortable, convenient. Great connection. Yeah. Unfortunately not, not in small towns like the one I live in, I live in, so not a choice for me. Oh, I would like that one day, that would be so cool.

So if not an option, you can always catch or take, catch a train or catch a bus, catch or take a train, a bus. For me, personally, for me, the coolest, the coolest one is the tram, the tram, the streetcar, the tram. I don't know why, I don't know why really. But whenever I have the chance, I take or catch the tram. Not every city has them, not every city, but yeah, very cool.

And the bus, I don't know, I don't know. Not the biggest fan. I don't think they are that comfortable to ride, that comfortable. Maybe those big coaches, coach, a big bus that runs between two cities, long distances, long distances. They are quite comfortable, but the distance is just too long, too long sometimes.

Oh, oh, and you can always catch a boat or a ferry, a boat, a ferry. If you live on an island, maybe, on an island, yeah. Not the case here, not the case, so it is not like that over here. Or just fly, just fly, catch a plane, fly. That would also work for the island, I guess, yeah, that would definitely work.

Hmm, what else? Oh, the most fun should be hitchhike, hitchhike, so catch a ride, catch a ride from somebody. I don't do that, I'm sure a lot of people do.

And remember, remember, the most, most, most fun and the healthiest way to get around is just simply to use your feet. So go on foot, go on foot, go out and just walk, walk.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

And who's fault is that, who's fault is that? Not mine, it is not my fault, obviously, obviously. I will not take the blame, I will not take the blame for that, it is not my fault, it's not mine. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. I will not do that.

Maybe it's your fault, maybe it is yours. Maybe it is his fault. Is it? Is it his fault? Is it his? Or maybe her fault, maybe it is hers, maybe it's her fault. Or our fault. Yeah, we all take the blame, we all take the blame for that. Maybe it's our fault, our fault, ours, it's ours. It's not ours, it's their fault, it is theirs. Maybe, I don't know, but I know it's not mine,

it is not my fault, it's not mine, I will not put it on me,

I will not put it on me. Hmm, so whose fault is that? Because I couldn't sleep last night, I couldn't, I could not, I couldn't sleep last night, and obviously it is not my fault, it isn't mine, I will not put that on me, so maybe this is my neighbours'. Yeah, that's convenient, that's comfortable to say, so I will say that

it's their fault, it's theirs, I will put it on them,

on them, I will put it on them, why not. Well a lot of fault, a lot of blame to find. That's a lot of fun, because I lost a tennis match, I lost a tennis match, and again, not my fault, not mine, nope. But my opponent, so the player that I played against, I played against this man, he was a man, yeah why not, so I will put it on him,

it's his fault, it's his, I will put it on him,

he's just too good. Yeah, convenient. And when I am late for my class, when I am late for my class, it is not my fault, it isn't my fault, but whose fault is that, whose fault is that? Well, so the traffic was big, and there were a lot of cars, a lot of drivers, so, yeah,

it is their fault, it's theirs, I will put it on them,

on them, I will put it on them. Yeah, great, they will take it, no problem. Okay, and here is another one, another one, and not my fault, again it's not mine, so you will not put it on me, you will not. I got a fine, I got a fine, so I got a penalty, a fine from the police, because, yeah I was talking on the phone, on the phone, and driving - don't do that - I got a fine, not my fault, not my fault, it's not mine, it's not mine. But definitely, definitely, it's my niece's fault, it is her fault, she will be so happy to hear that, it's my niece's fault, it's her fault,

it is her fault, it's hers, I will put it on her,

on my niece, I will put it on her, because I was talking to her, so you know, I cannot take the blame for that, I will put the blame on her, on her. It's her fault, it's definitely, definitely, definitely, her fault. Convenient.

Yeah and finally, finally, the last one, I'm tired, pretty much all the time, I'm tired all the time, and I'm trying to find fault, I'm trying to put the blame on somebody, so who wants to take the blame for that, who wants to take the blame? Because it's not my fault, it's not mine. Maybe it is our fault, how about this? I'm okay with a compromise, compromise over here. It's ours, because we put a lot of pressure on ourselves, we put a lot of pressure on us. Yeah a little, maybe, maybe

it's our fault, our, our fault, it's ours,

or maybe, oh, maybe I'm tired because of you, I have to prepare that podcast for you. So yeah, how about this? It is not my fault that I am tired, it's not mine, I will not take the blame. You will not put it on me, you will not. I will put it on you,

it's your fault, so this time the fault is yours,

Yeah, very, very convenient. I need to rest.

my fault, mine, put it on ME

your fault, yourS, put it on YOU

his fault, hiS, put it on HIM

her fault, herS, put it on HER

our fault, ourS, put it on US

their fault, theirS, put it on THEM

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!

  • Luke Likes 'Italian Chef'

Yeah, it is time to cook something, it is time to cook. But not alone, not alone. I need some help from an Italian chef, Italian chef and his recipe, his brilliant recipe for 'Spaghetti Alla Puttanesca'. Yeah, 'una puttanesca di Giorgione', chef Giorgione, that's his name. I can't, I can't do without him, I can't do without him.

Can't wait, so let's go. What ingredients, what ingredients do we need? Yeah, quite simple, good, something for me. Alright, garlic, anchovies. Oh, maybe I will not use that. Yeah, I'll replace it, yeah. Maybe courgette, or zucchini, courgette, zucchini. Both are fine. Okay, then black olives and olive oil, olive oil. Alright, and capers, capers, yeah. Chili flakes, chili, chili flakes, yeah, alright. Tinned, tinned, tomatoes, tinned, tomatoes, chopped, they have to be chopped, tinned, in a tin, in a can, tinned or canned. Parsley, parsley and spaghetti, spaghetti of course. Okay, that's it.

Okay, and nowthe instructions, the instructions, so how to prepare that, let me see. Alright, okay, so start with olive oil, olive oil. Sprinkle, so pour, pour, sprinkle, little drops, sprinkle, oh, as if it was raining, he says, as if it was raining. That's nice,

Then add three cloves, cloves, three cloves of garlic. Oh, that is interesting, he says, don't remove, don't remove the skin, don't remove the coat, leave it and just crush, crush or press, crush the cloves with the knife. Okay, I can do that.

Then heat, heat the pan. Heat, so put fire under the pan, the pan and add anchovies. Yeah, in my case, so for me, in my case, that's not anchovies, that's courgette. Okay, maybe I will grate it, I will grate it, so grated, grated courgette,

Okay, and add black olives, add, add, so put, add, add black olives and capers, but first drain them, drain them, so without this liquid, this water thing inside. Okay, wait, but how much of that, how much? 'Un pochino', okay, 'un pochino', that's a little bit. I will put a little bit, maybe a handful, a handful, or a tablespoonful, tablespoonful, a spoonful of capers. Yeah, maybe two, or a handful of them.

Then add chili. Stir, stir, all ingredients together, stir and hmm. Okay, and then remove, remove the skins, the skins, this coat of garlic. Okay, out of the pan, out of the pan, remove it.

Oh gosh, okay, white wine. Sprinkle with white wine, a few drops of white wine. That's spectacular, spectacular, I will do that definitely, so cool, I can do that. And after, I don't know, maybe 10 minutes of stirring, stirring, and cooking, add tomatoes, and, oh, bring it to simmer, simmer, so they have to fry a little bit, so to speak. Fry, simmer.

And keep stirring, stirring, mixing, stirring, all together. Okay, seems easy so far, seems easy. And, oh, the spaghetti, in the meantime, in the meantime, in the meantime, you have to prepare the spaghetti. So boil the water, salted, salted water, and put spaghetti in. Don't ever break the spaghetti, don't ever do that, people get mad. Yeah, and follow the instructions on the pack, on the pack. I think it's 10 to 15 minutes. It depends, it depends.

Okay, so after around 20 minutes add, add spaghetti, and toss, toss, so just throw a little bit around. Oh, that's the fun part, that's the fun part, can't wait to do that, to toss it. Okay, and then a few drops of olive. Oh yeah, season, season, so decorate, decorate, season, with parsley, with parsley. Chopped, you have to chop it first.

And, well, I think it's, it's ready, quite simple, even I can do that, even I can do that. Alright, thanks, chef, Giorgino, Giorgino, Italian chef. Wow, I'm hungry right now, so I'd better, start cooking.

Okay, 'buon appetito', everyone, 'buon appetito'.

Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!
