Ahhh the Christmas holiday season, a time where a lot of feelings and
thoughts seem to make their way up to the surface of our consciousness.
Lately for us, it's been the idea of validation and how we've really begun
to not notice just how much we've--consciously as well as
subconsciously--stumbled into sharing and posting to social media for maybe
not the most inspiring reasons. -
Booking your first wedding is a huge achievement in and of itself, so
congratulations! But now that you've secured your first wedding couple, the
actual task of completing your service as a photographer might seem
daunting and overwhelming. -

Where do you stand when it comes to goal setting? Are you someone who
really enjoys the thrill of a fresh start be it on Monday of a new week, or
on January first of a new year? Or alternatively, do you prefer not
utilizing an arbitrary number on a calendar to mark your new beginnings? -
Today's question is:
"Are you two minimalists? And what kind of toys do you have for Birdy?"
Listen in to hear our answers. -
Are you working more hours than you want and still just managing to stay
afloat? Are you longing to adore your job and work alongside of your ideal
clientele?
You--and you alone--have the power to build a business however you would
like to. You can work entirely with your dreamiest clients if you're
willing to put in the work, commit to the changes, and really truly invest
in yourself. -
Having a baby doesn't have to be expensive; depending on your personal
situation, you don't have to be spending hundreds and thousands of dollars
per month and year on additional expenses when they are really great
alternatives that can save you a LOT of money. -
The idea of boundaries started showing up for us around two years ago, and
ever since then, the idea of them has always been appealing, yet it hasn't
been until recently that we've actually implemented some boundaries in both
our life and our business. -
Even though we've written out an extensive birth day recap from the day
that Birdy was born, we wanted to share a verbal recount today of March
8th, 2017 from start to finish. Birdy even joins in on the conversation to
share her own thoughts on her birth story haha. -
What is our life if it's not infused with joy? Where do we turn when our
cup is empty and we long so strongly for it to be filled? Do you turn to
external sources such as clothes, promotions, words of affirmation,
success, money? Or have you learned how to turn inward and cultivate joy
deep within your own heart and soul? -
Today we wanted to chat about a few of our tips and tricks when it comes to
travelling with a baby. Birdy has been on her fair share of flights since
she's been born, and we've learned a handful of things since then in
regards to air travel. -
Struggling with authenticity can be so hard, not only in our day-to-day
real lives, but even more so when we try to translate pieces of who we are
onto a social media platform. We wanted to share in a conversation around
authenticity, what it means to us, and how we try and radiate that outward
in everything that we do. It's not easy, especially when we get caught up
in the headspace of self-worth, followers, likes, and all of that social
stuff that at the end of the day, doesn't define who we are. -
You, friends, are the absolute best! We can't believe that we've
successfully pulled off our very first interactive podcast episode. We
loved it so much that we can certainly say that although it was our first
time, it definitely won't be our last. Listen in to see how we conversed
with you guys throughout the episode in real time. -
Not only is maintaining friendships as an adult something that's quite hard
to do, but how do we even find these friends to begin with. It seems that
as kids friendships come, and are maintained, quite easily, but as
adults--especially once we're more in tune to who we are as human
beings--finding friends that can easily ebb and flow into our lives doesn't
seem to come as easily.
Why is that?
Why do some friendships last forever, while others end after months or
years? -
Oh the off season.
Navigating the off season in your business can be tricky! I remember my
first off season trying so hard to stay busy every single day by writing
blog posts that I'm pretty sure only my mom read...but hey! If that
contributed to where we are today then I'll take it. -
In the name of continuity, we decided to release part two of our Postpartum
Depression episode this week instead of waiting until next Tuesday. If
you're just coming across this now and haven't listened to part one, you
can do that here. We've kept the resources down below if you need them or
need to share them with someone you love. -
It's here. The episode that has almost been looming over us ever since we
started Gather + Grow--partially because I think there's a part of me
(Kaihla) that is for the first time in a long time, feeling the
vulnerability that's coming along with sharing this much of my story with
the world. It's not often that I get nervous to share with you guys, but
this one has affected me so deeply, that it's almost frightening to let a
piece of it go and put it out for others to be a part of. -
With being a wedding photographer--and someone who adores their
work--timing our pregnancy to land (hopefully!) in the right time frame
took a lot of thought and planning. In today's minisode, we walk you
through our thought process for how we decided that early spring was the
best time to give birth. -
We've been struggling with a pretty big life decision over the last couple
of months; with me not enjoying the whole "stay at home parent" role, and
Mark being unhappy at work knowing that I was at home unhappy, we finally
decided that we needed to make a change. -
Staying on track in business can be HARD; thankfully for me (Kaihla), I
have a partner who is great at keeping us on task, motivated, and conscious
of what's going on in various avenues of our business. -
Today we wanted to talk about what we thought parenthood would be like for
us before having Birdy, as well as what our current reality actually looks
like five months into being parents. - Se mer
