Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to be taking a look at aspects of the Harry Potter universe that everyone seems to remember…The wrong way. And partly to blame for all of this is the fact that the Harry Potter books were adapted to film.
The short answer for WHY all of this happened is that in transforming the beloved book series into movies, a lot of liberties were taken.
Characters personalities were changedScenes that NEVER occurred were addedCharacter roles were switchedAnd in many cases, aspects of the books were outright omittedBut now that so many years have passed, a lot of these movie misconceptions have become so ingrained that they've completely overwritten how we remember the original Harry Potter books. How you perceive this video will depend entirely on how you engaged with the series. For some, the films were too frustrating to finish — filled with inaccuracies that clashed with the books- and by going down this path their memory of the books (and more importantly, accurate information) remained intact.
But for many others, the books and movies have blended together into one seamless version of the story. Harry Potter as a whole became an amalgamation of both book and film — with the lines between them increasingly blurred.
And in many instances these changes became so pervasive that they overwrote how nearly everyone remembered the source material.
After you’ve watched the video, let me know how many of these things YOU remembered the wrong way. Be honest.

When we’re first exposed to the Harry Potter story, Gryffindor are introduced as the ‘good’ guys. They can’t do any wrong, can they?
Slytherin Bad. Gryffindor good.
But, it’s not really that simple, is it?
Because when you actually look past the golden glow of Gryffindor House — past the roaring lion mascot, the impressive Quidditch performances, and the constant rule-breaking that somehow always gets rewarded 100 house points at the end of the year — what you start to see is a culture that’s not exactly representative of moral superiority or emotional maturity.

Albus Dumbledore is widely regarded as the most powerful wizard of his time. Some may say Voldemort, or even Grindelwald, but in my opinion- Dumbledore had something special that the others didn't.
He was truly one of a kind.
Or...Was he?
My question today is: was Dumbledore as special as we make him out to be? Does he deserve to be pedestalized to the extent that he is? Or is it possible that someone else could reach- or even surpass- his level of power?
Surely SOMEONE has the potential to match him, right? And if so..Who?

Boggarts, as we understand them, are essentially the manifestation of our deepest darkest fears. Amortal shape-shifting non-beings that transform themselves in to whatever it is that we fear most.
No one knows what their true form looks like (except maybe Mad-Eye Moody), no one knows where they come from, and no one knows..WHY they exist.
So today, we're going to be busting these questions wide open: exploring WHAT they are, WHERE they come from, and why they're one of the most terrifying creatures in all of Harry Potter lore.

Today we’re going to be discussing James Potter..And why I think he was actually kind of…awful. Now, before you rush to the comments, hear me out. I know James is Harry’s father. I know he fought Voldemort. And I know he eventually became a good person who died protecting his family.
But if we take a closer look at who James was during his years at Hogwarts, the picture we get is a lot less flattering.

Quick video for you today on the most recent update from HBO which includes their finalized casting decisions for a number of the main actors in season 1 of the Harry Potter TV show, which will be an adaptation of the Philosopher's Stone.
Many of these names have been thrown around over the past few months, but few had actually been confirmed.
And interestingly, there are a few names and characters here that slipped through the cracks entirely. In total there are 6 names. I'll start with the ones that I didn't know about up until the announcement, then go into the others.

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. I made a video a couple of weeks ago discussing the recent casting for Severus Snape in the upcoming Harry Potter HBO series..And let's just say there were some strong opinions...
In fact, that video got over THREE THOUSAND COMMENTS- and the basic gist of the conversation was this: people really care about who plays Snape- and rightly so.

As far as works of fiction go, the Harry Potter books are pretty mild.
Sure, the books do get a LITTLE bit darker as the story goes on..But you’d never go so far as to deem it SATANIC or something..Right?
Well, as it happens, many people DO think this way (I know, nuts), and ever since the first book hit the shelves in the late ‘90s, there have been waves of controversies surrounding the series—including some truly outrageous claims… Like Harry Potter being somehow synonymous with devil worship.
And that’s just one of these flagrant claims.
One asserts that the Harry Potter books act as an “open doorway that will put untold millions of kids into hell”
Another claims that that the books are “worse than rat poison mixed with orange soda”
And one religious figure even made the bold proclamation that: "Behind Harry Potter hides the signature of the king of the darkness, the devil.”
These are REAL quotes.
But..Now the question is: Are these assertions substantiated in ANY WAY?
Today, we’re going to be tackling this topic head-on—unpacking why so many people believed Harry Potter served as a gateway to hell, what unfolded in the wake of these controversies, and why, despite all the backlash, the series not only survived…But became a global phenomenon.
Let’s dive in to it.

I've done a lot of spell videos. The most powerful, the most dangerous, the hardest to cast, but one I've always wanted to make involves taking a look at the most... Messed up.
Not the deadliest. Not the flashiest. But the kind of spell that makes you question why someone would even invent it in the first place.
Fortunately I've gone down the spell rabbit hole pretty deep- I've even made an entire video covering every single spell in the Wizarding World. So I've got a pretty solid grasp on the full spellbook.
Which is why today, we're shining a light on the most messed up, demented spells the Wizarding World has to offerspells that exist to inflict pain, humiliation, and sometimes just pure, senseless suffering.
Instead of focusing on the obvious ones, my goal for this video will be to dig deeper into the cruel, obscure, and morally bankrupt curses, hexes, and jinxes that most of you probably haven't even heard of.
But before we get stuck in, I do want to highlight one consideration: Sometimes, it's not about what the spell is inherentlyit's about how it's used. Something that seems harmless on the outsidelike a spell used to mend a broken teacup can quickly become a tool of torment in the wrong hands.
Anyway..
Let's dive into it.

What if I told you that there was a witch from Harry Potter lore that, despite possessing levels of power similar to the founders of Hogwarts..No one really talks about.
This witch, known more commonly for her title as a 'sorceress' was known for her extraordinary magical abilitiesso much so that her name became legend, even beyond the wizarding world. Her mastery over spells and enchantments rivaled that of the most powerful sorcerers in history, yet for some reason, she remains overlooked in most discussions of magic.
But who was this witch? And why has her legacy faded into obscurity?
Today we'll be discussing all of that and more.

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. It's during the first book/film, the Philosopher's Stone, that Harry is first introduced to the Wizarding World. And upon his first discovery of this magical realm, he's filled with both excitement and confusion.
"Harry - Yer a Wizard"
"I'm a what?" Gasped Harry
This was a boy who had, for all his waking years, endured a painfully DULL and oppressive life at 4 Privet drive alongside the Dursleys. And now, suddenly, in a single moment, an entire magical world seems to be calling his name.
Potions. Spells. Magical Creatures. Magic Wands. All of it.
And this sudden revelation of a hidden world offered not only a glimmer of hopebut also the promise of a life far beyond the ordinary.
And what does Harry go and do?
CAST absolutely no spells for the entire first film.
No, really. Harry Potter, the BOY WHO LIVED, Voldemort SLAYER- doesn't cast ANYTHING.
But.... What about when he.... And that time when they were...
Nope. Nothing.

Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing fan theories regarding what people THINK Harry Potter did to Voldemort in order to defeat him, as well as what ACTUALLY took place during The Battle of Hogwarts.
Before we can dive into fan theories and accurately analyse the final duel that takes place between Harry and the Dark Lord, we must first understand the many things that NEEDED to happen in order to make Harry's victory over Voldemort possible.

When navigating the Wizarding World through the perspective of a Muggle, there are a lot of things that might raise a few eyebrows.
Some in a morally dubious senseand others simply because of how unbelievably astonishing they are.
But in my view, there is perhaps nothing more sinister or baffling than the notion of a love potion (and that's quite a statement given what's out there)
Think about it: it's a potion that you give to someone... and it makes them fall INVOLUNTARILY in love with you.
For just a second- consider the power you could have over someone with this- one sip from a potion and they're infatuated with you. And all of this only feels even more bizarre when you consider the fact that we're CONSTANTLY reminded of how POWERFUL the force of love truly is in the Wizarding World.
Yet... somehow, love can be bottled and sold? Like a trinket on a shop shelf in Diagon Alley.
Today we're going to be taking a closer look at LOVE potions in Harry Potter. HOW they're allowed to exist, HOW they work, and even a few theories on Why I think they might not be QUITE what we think they are- ONE of which involves the Weasley twins.
Let's dive in.

Since the books and films ended there really hasn't been much additional info published on the Wizarding World, which is why I felt the need to fill in that 27 year gap and provide some clarity on what sort of man Draco Malfoy became and what he did with his life.
Today, we're shining the spotlight on Draco and taking a closer look at his life in a post-war era.

After the dust settled and the battle with Voldemort came to an end, the Wizarding world was finally able to finally celebrate the triumph of good over evil.
However, it also marked the beginning of an uncharted chapter in wizarding world history.
And because the books and films came to an end, we never gained much insight into what became of the places and characters that we grew to love.
We were given a brief epilogue that offered a TINY snippet of what their lives looked like 19 years later- but besides that..Nothing.
And this leaves a significant gap that remains largely unexplored, not to mention the many years that have passed since the epilogue.
Today I'm going to fill you in on what became of the titular character, Harry Potter- taking a look at what transpired in his life, and what sort of man he became.
Let's dive in.

Welcome to a special installment of Harry Potter Theory. We're now well into 2025 and I wanted to take this opportunity to take a look back at 2024 and highlight five of my favourite DARK Harry Potter theories from the year. There's a good variety here, so hopefully you enjoy.

Dumbledore and Voldemort are widely regarded as the pinnacle of magical power, standing at the very top of the wizarding hierarchy. Their mastery of spells, dueling prowess, and profound understanding of magic set them apart from nearly all other witches and wizards in history.
While still just a boy, Dumbledore performed magic that his professors "had never seen before,", and in adulthood, he cemented his place as the most powerful wizard of his time, mastering disciplines of magic that others could barely comprehend.
Years later, Voldemort followed suit, displaying unnatural magical talent from a young age. Even before formal training, he could move objects, control animals, and manipulate the minds of others through sheer will. As an adult, Voldemort's magic became unmatched in both brutality and innovation. He pushed spellcraft to its limits and became the only known wizard to split his soul multiple times.
It's fairly safe to say that these two were leaps and bounds ahead of their peers and entirely deserving of their reputations as two of the most powerful wizards in history.
But what if I told you that another wizardone just as powerful, if not more so, than both of these menonce walked the very same halls of Hogwarts that they did, but somehow doesn't get nearly the same recognition?
Today we're going to be cracking this wide open and telling his story.
