    This years Trade Period was definitely much quieter from last years monster window for Mark McKenzie and his team, but the Hawks still went to work bringing in reinforcements for the AFL’s most watchable side.

    This week, the HI consisted of Danny Prins, Andrew Weiss, Brad Klibansky, Nat Martin and Mick Cowan and the boys got stuck into it, covering:

    * Tom Barrass. The deal, the ripple effect, the winners and losers;

    * Dipped our toes into the pools of the Blues Insiders and the Eagles Insiders to understand why they made the deals they did;

    * The Hawks chances at snagging the McLelland Trophy;

    * Our amazing AFLW team and the wild journey they are on in season 2024;

    * Previewing the game at Kinetic Stadium against the Giants, one which many Insiders will be at;

    * And much more…

    Season 2024 is in the books for the Hawk boys. What a ride it has been. This one might burn a little though, because it feels like an opportunity missed.

    Danny was joined by Andrew, Brad and Darren to recap what was a tough way to end the Hawks season, but it’s fair to say there was still plenty to be positive about, even for ‘Reasonable’ Brad.

    Key talking points:

    * General vibe check

    * Port’s pressure to start the game, how did the Hawks cope?

    * The Hawks working their way back into it across the second, third and ourth

    * Umpiring

    * How much did we miss Sam Frost and Will Day?

    * The last ten minutes (Moore and Sicily misses)

    * Who struggled with the pace and aggression?

    * On the other hand, who stood out?

    * Hinkley, Sicily, Impey and Mitchell after the match

    * And so much more…

    Finally, thank you for your ongoing support of Hawks Insiders. It turns out finals Hokball is even better than home and away Hokball!

    In Hawthorn’s first finals appearance since 2018, this young, brash and bold team made the rest of the football world take notice. They’re not here to make up the numbers, and they’re going to Adelaide determined to continue to keep FlagHok alive.

    Danny and Darren had the pleasure of spending an hour reminiscing on what was a surreal Friday night at the MCG, with the majority of the 97,000 in attendance going home happy.

    Key talking points:

    * Hawks Radio Pre-Game - The Elimination Final edition

    * The crowd, the vibe, the atmosphere and how the Hawks embraced it;

    * A first quarter arm wrestle and who kept us in it;

    * Demolition city in the second and third quarters;

    * Individual player performances as part of the collective brilliance;

    * Selfless football leading to incredible celebrations;

    Where else can we start and finish? From 0-5 to finals footy, Hokball is alive.

    What a way to end the home and away season, a 124 point drubbing of North Melbourne, and one where the apprentice taught the master a lesson. Listen as Danny Prins and Darren Levin wrap up the final home and away season game in a chaotic yet controlled way.

    Key talking points:

    * Is Darren still nervous?

    * The demolition of the Roos and the party time in the final quarter;

    * Individual player performances and collective line performances;

    * The joy of the journey in 2024;

    This week, the Hawks Insiders were privileged to be hosted by Hawthorn’s Confreres coterie group, the oldest coterie group in the AFL. It was a pleasure to spend the day amongst passionate Hawthorn people, excited and hungry for September action.

    In a game that started at a frantic pace and petered out after quarter time, Danny Prins and Darren Levin managed to pick the positives and sift through the negatives of a fantastic Sunday afternoon at the football. The boys touched on a number of thing including:

    Key talking points:

    * Our fast start, and some scintillating Sketchers football;

    * Setting expectations too high is setting ourselves up for disappointment;

    * The arm wrestle that was the second and third quarters;

    * Will Day and untimely injuries to key players;

    * 19 year old draftees leading the line alongside a key veteran;

    * Our three players who stood out and why;

    * And so much more…

    It was a memorable day at the football, for so many reasons. The debut of the Hawks Insiders as part of the Hawks Radio coverage, a glorious sunny afternoon for football giving September ‘08 vibes, and a massive Hawthorn win in front of a packed house (at least it was until the Blues fans went home after half time).

    It was a privilege and a pleasure for Danny Prins to lead the post-match discussion alongside Darren Levin and Andrew Weiss, as the boys shared their recollections of an incredible afternoon of Hokball.

    Key talking points:

    * What a day at the football;

    * Absorbing the early pressure and the Hawks mature, exciting response;

    * What changed to allow the Hawks to wrestle complete control of the game;

    * An almost complete performance, with contributions by every single player;

    It was a great hour for some robust discussion in the Safe Space this week. Should we be gutted by the loss to the Giants? Have shifted expectations changed the way we view results? How will we judge the season as a whole once it is done?

    Plenty of banter and reflection as Weissy, Ash, Daz, Brad, Mora and Mick discussed a range of pressing brown and gold matters including:

    * A huge announcement - Hawks Insiders are hosting the LIVE pre-game show on Hawks Radio via SEN this weekend;

    * A brief comment on the racism saga;

    * That loss to the Giants - what went wrong?;

    * Should we have won the game and what were the key moments that cost us the four points?;

    * The emotional experience watching the game and reflecting a few days later;

    * Questions without notice - a GWS special;

    * The wonderful win by Box Hill on the weekend and the continued journey they are taking us all on;

    * A look ahead to the Blues game on Sunday;

    * And much more…

    It wasn’t the prettiest performance but the Hawks were looking good for the win at 3/4 time. Forgive the spoilers but that joy turned out to be short lived, as the Giants ran over the top of the Hawks, erasing a 28 point deficit on their way to a 2 point win. To pinch a phrase off our own Mr. Klibansky. Punished.

    Danny Prins and Darren Levin gave themselves a day to let the emotions settle, and hopefully came through with some measured and honest takes on why and how the Hawks let this one slip. It was incredibly disappointing and yet still a fantastic earning experience at the same time. But did the Hawks cost themselves a top 8 spot?

    Key talking points:

    * The fallout from that last quarter, what or who was to blame;

    * The reasons for why the Hawks are chasing Tom Barrass were on display;

    * Why did the run stop?

    * The Hawks having control but not being able to put the game away;

    * Key performers for the Hawks;

    * Josh Weddle, is his versatility almost hurting him?

    * And so much more…

    This Hawthorn team is legit. The problem is, it’s only 15 weeks ago that they were rubbish. It feels like they have developed too quickly? Is that a thing?

    It was a topic of discussion for a reduced Insiders panel this evening as Danny, Weissy, Ash and Mick discussed a range of Hawthorn related things, including:

    * Just how good are these Hawks?;

    * The win against the Crows and how it highlighted many positives about this side;

    * Peter Burge, Hawthorn’s fitness, primed and ready to pounce;

    * How can Hawthorn be a premiership contender if they sit outside the top 8?;

    * Tom Barras, Hawthorn is his preferred destination;

    * Conor Nash and Sam Frost, they’re going to stay for a bit longer (or a lot longer in Nash’s case);

    * Tidbits from the Box Hill win against Williamstown;

    * A stack of listener questions and comments;

    * And plenty more…

    If the vibes were high after last weekend’s demolition of the Magpies, the vibes are immaculate after the Hawks proved once again they are the dominant bird of prey in the AFL, after heading over to Adelaide and murdering the Crows.

    Enjoy Danny Prins host some thoroughly enjoyable and thought provoking discussion provided by Andrew Weiss and Nat Martin as the Insiders dive deep into a win that has the Hawks hovering in 9th, waiting for their opportunity to take a top 8 spot.

    Key talking points:

    * The chaotic start, Nick’s game plan actually working and how the Hawks overcame it;

    * Seizing control of the game, and the defensive impact of the Hawthorn forwards;

    * 2024, the making of Connor Macdonald;

    * The bounce back of our defensive unit after quarter time;

    * Slingshot footy at it’s pure, unadulterated best;

    * The emergence of Josh Ward when it was tough in the clinches;

    * Wizard and Calsher and the joy of youth;

    * And so much more…
