    "Having grown up in Germany, I had the great fortune to experience a holistic style of medicine from an early age.

    This inspired me to study at the oldest naturopathic medical school in the US (The National University of Natural Medicine), in Portland Oregon. During my four year doctoral training, I underwent rigorous classroom and clinical training, and spent extra time focusing my clinical education on women's health and digestive health.

    SIBO is my clinical focus and I am one of a handful of experts treating this condition in Europe. Having suffered from SIBO myself, I know how frustrating it can be. It is important to work with a practitioner who takes a holistic approach and focuses on relapse prevention. The low FODMAP diet can provide symptomatic relief in the short term, but it is not a long-term solution and should not be followed for more than three months. Additional tests that may be helpful for SIBO include markers of inflammation (such as CRP and calprotectin) and markers of gut permeability (such as zonulin and IFABP). Finding a practitioner who specializes in SIBO and takes a holistic approach is important for effective treatment and long-term management of the condition.
