What's your blood type? In this episode we hear about blood from Dr Shane Grimsley, a Clinical Scientist in the International Blood Group Reference Laboratory at NHS Blood and Transplant. We talked on blood donation, blood types and hear more about specific work going on to try and improve blood matching for individuals living with Sickle Cell disorder, some of whom undergo routine blood transfusions as part of their care.

In this pilot show we take a look at the healthcare science and technology going on in hospitals. In this first pilot episode I spoke to Aisling Haughey, a radiotherapy physicist at Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Northern Ireland. We spoke about how to plan radiotherapy treatments and how artificial intelligence tools could be used to make it faster and easier.
