  • Advent can be a bit of a blur for most people. And yet, if you can give it a moment it can really make an impact on these last few weeks before Christmas. It is a time of opportunity - or grace as we would say in the Catholic tradition. God is coming and we cannot wait! But in the midst of the rushing, frenetic activities, how can we shift our focus?

In this podcast episode, we discuss the attitudes of the first family to do the first Advent, Mary, Joseph, and the Child. How did they stay calm and serene in the midst of so much uncertainty? Mary trusted everything would be okay even though there was no plan for the newborn. There seemed no angry outbursts on the part of Joseph even though he seemed to have failed in his first steps of fatherhood.

We explore Advent as a time to prepare to love others as they are and to accept whatever our Christmas holds because God is coming to us where we are and we can always love others because we are always loved by God.

We'll also explore motive in the workplace, reflecting on how my own approach fits with the team and where my work aligns well with others.

We invite you to engage in this insightful conversation and to share this episode with your friends.

We're going to explore what it looks like to be understood, dig into a bit of brain science and discover what hostage negotiators have to teach us about building trust and some red flags in the area. And finally, to finish the golden rule: treat others as you want to be treated.

  • In this episode, we dive into the difference between self-development and holiness within the Catholic tradition. While self-development focuses on personal achievements and self-fulfilment, we discuss why this alone is not enough to truly satisfy someone's life. Instead, we explore the path of holiness - an invitation to grow in our unique personalities while striving to become more like Jesus.
Throughout the conversation, we address the potential pitfalls of self-development when pursued in isolation, such as envy or comparison, and highlight the transformative power of holiness in cultivating inner peace and purpose. We emphasise that holiness doesn't mean losing our individuality but enhancing it through a deeper relationship with Christ.
By the end of this episode, we hope you'll understand that the goal is not perfectionism but a genuine commitment to living according to Christ's teachings and that true success is found not in worldly achievements but in the ongoing spiritual journey of becoming the person God calls us to be.

  • Do you ever listen to conversion stories and wish you could experience a similar transformation? Is our approach to belief too reductionist, where the Gospel is a biography and the psalms akin to inspirational quotes. In this week’s podcast, we discuss how we can learn from the early Christian communities and the role of Scripture in their lives. We explore why Scripture can be:

    - Like digesting one’s food, with are 3 stages
    - A source of direction and inspiration
    - A truth-telling exercise for each person
    - God speaking to me

  • What does it take to live a happier life? In this episode, Dr. Marta Rocchi suggests the answer to this question addresses the very “why” of human existence. How we often confuse happiness with comfort and pleasure but in fact, it is so much more. We explore why the Ancient Greeks had it so right and why gratitude, friendships, enjoyment, and acceptance of oneself as a work in progress are all part of our personal flourishing.

  • While Easter weekend has passed, the reflections and meaning of this date must remain in our Hearts and Minds. Grace is God's life within us and we want to remind you of this.

In this podcast episode, Maire and Siobhan discuss the credibility of Easter as seen in the early accounts of Easter in the Gospels and the disbelief of the early followers of Christ.

We explore the craziness of our Catholic faith whose crowning feast is man putting God to death and God's coming back to life. We discuss how that very central message requires unpacking among our peers. We explore the transformative power Easter can have on each of us and the magnificence of the Easter liturgy which we can reflect and pray about in the 50 days of the Easter celebration.

We invite you to engage in this dialogue to reflect on the transformative power of Easter in your own life. Though this episode was recorded during Lent, its message resonates far beyond the Easter weekend.
