  •  🌟Episode Three - Women+ in academia🌟
In this episode, WE HAVE OUR FIRST GUESTS!!! Mal and I are so excited to bring you this episode.
The wonderful Jodi and Rebecca - hosts of the amazing podcast @theacademinists joined us for a really insightful chat about women+ in academia.
We talked about marriage, name changes, the deadly autoclave and discussed the extra challenges woc and minority backgrounds face. We tried to touch on as much as possible but due to time constraints and lack of personal experience we were not able to touch on all minority groups - however we would love to hear from individuals who identify with minority groups as the only way we can all learn is by listening to the experiences of others.
A huge thank you to @notbrainscience and Rebecca from @theacademinist for being amazing guests - we had so much fun chatting with you.
Don’t forget to be kind to yourself and let us know what you think!
    Much love,
    B & M

  • So the day has finally come where Honest Academia is launched with its first podcast.

Well this really is just a little introduction to who we are as individuals and what you should expect from our actual podcast episodes.

    To summarise:

We want you to join us on our journey through the aloof alien and amazing world of academia, we are both early career researchers as well as first generation PhD students. We define first-gen PhD students as a student (duh) that hasn't got an immediate familial tie to academia at this level, for example our siblings have degrees but have not explored the PhD world, and for us both, neither of our parents have degrees.

We hope to discuss a broad range of different topics that surround academia, including but not limited to: the assumptions we hold, the publishing process, starting a new degree, funding, politics of academia and last but not least, representation. We hope that whatever stage of academia you're in you can relate in some way to our journeys, be it looking back and reminiscing  or envisioning your future.

We cannot stress how much we appreciate the love and support we have already received & we want you to know that this podcast is a podcast for all so we look forward to having some of you on as guests as well as hearing from you in any way possible!
