The team at DCP Entertainment has been honored to bring you season one of our podcast, Inner Space with host, Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen. Over the course of eleven episodes, we've explored a wide range of topics focused on emotional health and well-being. As a key feature of every episode, we are collecting suggestions and advice from our guests that we hope will help the members of our audience take care of their own emotional health – as they support the mental health of the people they love. As a special gift to our loyal followers, we are bringing you two bonus episodes for you to enjoy. For our second bonus episode we head back across the pond to London, England where our host, Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen and the non profit she founded, Give an Hour, hosted the 2nd Annual Global Summit on Mental Health Culture Change. Dr. Barbara sat down with summit panelist Chief Inspector Michael Brown of the UK Police Force to discuss the ways in which police officers are trained to respond to mental health situations in the UK. They also discuss a problem our two countries share – the over-criminalization of the mentally ill. Finally, Dr. Barbara and the Chief Inspector explore some of the innovative ways the UK police force is working to address the mental health challenges their officers are called upon to address. We know you’ll enjoy this important conversation. We are all blessed with certain unique gifts or “super powers”. We all have the potential to use these gifts to do good in the world. Some of us have a small circle of influence, others have a huge one. Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen's three guests on this episode of Inner Space all have impressive talents and each is using his rather large sphere of influence to help those who are hurting. Dr. Barbara's first guest, John Osborne, is a compassionate and gifted teacher with the Art of Living Foundation who is using his gift to help many – including veterans struggling with the invisible injuries of war. Dr. Barbara's second guest, Bruce Cohen is an Academy Award winning Hollywood producer who chooses projects that entertain, inspire and challenge us, and like Bruce, her final guest is an accomplished award winning storyteller. Charlie Stewart uses the medium of the documentary film to engage and inform his audience. On this final episode of Dr. Barbara's first season of Inner Space, we'll discover how these very special men use their gifts and their platforms to bring hope and help to those in need. As a senior executive at IBM, she has used the might of her organization to harness knowledge and leverage innovation to develop new tools and create new opportunities for our veterans. Andrea Inserra didn’t set out to be a mental health champion but her compassion and determination to seek solutions for complex problems led her to recognize that more needed to be done to help those who were suffering emotionally. And her willingness to answer a friend’s call for help, led her to accept a very important invitation. For this special episode of Inner Space, Dr. Barbara discusses a subject that is difficult and challenging – but one that is very important for us to talk about. She sits down with Dr. Jennifer Ashton, who you may recognize from her appearances on "Good Morning America” as the Chief Medical Officer for ABC News. Sadly, in 2017, Jennifer lost someone very close to her to suicide. As a result, she has written a very powerful book, Life After Suicide, that is helping families heal after an unthinkable loss. Next, Dr. Barbara catches up with another good friend and colleague, Dr. Keita Franklin, the National Director of Suicide Prevention for the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Franklin’s career – first with the Department of Defense and now at the VA – has been devoted to saving the lives of those who serve our country. Each of these guests are helping us change the way we think about, talk about and address the mental health challenges that lead to emotional pain and suffering.
