Rabbi Dan Roth believes there is nothing more exciting than Torah wisdom and is devoting his life to bringing that excitement to Jews around the world. A revolutionary educator, he is the founder and director of Torah Live (www.torahlive.com), an organization that creates multimedia presentations and teaching resources on both halachic and hashkafic topics. Raised in London, Rabbi Roth is a graduate of the Mir Yeshiva and received semicha from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. While teaching at Ohr Somayach, he recognized the need for making Torah relevant to our youth - and thus Torah Live was born! Rabbi Roth now spends most of his time script writing, filming, and traveling the world to inspire individuals and educators in how to utilize today’s technology to engage people in the beauty, and relevance, of Torah in our lives.

Devora Shabtai, LCSW, MSc, PhD Candidate currently serves as the Vice President of Clinical Development at Onward Living, an addiction rehabilitation program for Jewish men in Boca Raton, Florida. Devora specializes in the treatment of addiction and spiritual/religious trauma, as well as clinical program design that is tailored to meet the clinical and cultural needs of members of the Orthodox Jewish community within both inpatient and outpatient levels of care. Alongside clinical work, Devora has a background in evidence-based research and her current doctoral research is examining spiritual/religious identity development and its relationship to mental health.
In this episode, we discuss how religious trauma occurs and how it ties into addiction. We also learn about the incredible work at Onward Living which gives so many people a second chance at life, a chance where they can thrive.

Rabbi Steven Weil was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces in 2020. He began his career as a pulpit Rabbi, first serving at the Young Israel of Oak Park in Detroit, Michigan and then at Congregation Beth Jacob in Beverly Hills, California. In 2009, he assumed the position of Senior Managing Director of the Orthodox Union, leading their institutional advancement and community engagement efforts. Rabbi Mordechai Becher, originally from Australia, is an instructor at Yeshiva University and alumni Rabbi of Neve Yerushalayim College. He received his ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem and holds an MA in Medieval Jewish History from the Bernard Revel Graduate School. He taught at Ohr Somayach and Neve Yerushalayim in Jerusalem and served in the Israel Defense Forces. Rabbi Becher has answered thousands of questions on AsktheRabbi.org, presents a Talmud class, Dimensions of the Daf, for the Jewish Broadcasting Service and was senior lecturer for Gateways for 20 years. Rabbi Shimon Russell is no ordinary therapist. In addition to being a Torah scholar in his own right, he received Semicha from the late Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva, Harav Shnuer Kotler, zt'l. After witnessing a tragic situation, Rabbi Russell was encouraged by his friends to explore the idea of becoming a therapist, which in those days was not a popular occupation in the frum community. After seeking guidance from Harav Shach zt”l, Rabbi Russell entered the field of behavioral health and gained much experience from his clients and his own struggling teen children. Rabbi Russell discusses the OTD (off the derech) phenomenon and his incredible personal journey learning this concept. On Thursday April 20th, The Columbus Community Kollel held it's annual raffle drawing and KOLOT LIVE featuring Archie Griffin.
Archie Griffin is a former running back for Ohio State and the Cincinnati Bengals. He is the only player to be awarded the Heisman Trophy twice. Archie joins KOLOT to discuss his journey while playing and the leadership lessons he learned as President of the Alumni Association.

Shimon Kolyakov is the Co-Founder of TorahAnytime, an online platform and app which spreads Torah to the entire world. Once a kid in public school, Shimon was brought close to Judaism by a special rabbi.
