In this episode, Dawn Leong shares a conversation with our Singapore fund manager, Kenneth Ong on the long-term outlook of Singapore real estate. We have seen new highs in real estate prices in Singapore since the COVID-19 pandemic, driven by both local factors and a larger global phenomenon. As the global financial system shifts towards one that is dominated by government spending, the incremental buyers driving real estate prices are cash buyers. Kenneth believes that a steady rise in property prices is good for the long-term economy in Singapore, and that our banking system will be a key beneficiary of this.

Our Lion-OCBC Securities Singapore Low Carbon ETF was listed on the Singapore Exchange on 28 April 2022! This is the first low carbon ETF in Singapore. It tracks the iEdge-OCBC Singapore Low Carbon Select 50 Capped Index, which consists of the top 50 companies by free-float market capitalisation that are i) representative of Singapore's real and financial economy and ii) have a lower carbon footprint and involvement in fossil fuels. The index provides investors with an effective tool for limiting the exposure of their portfolios to carbon risk. In the episode, we have Lim Yuin (Chief Investment Strategist) and Ong Xun Xiang (ETF product specialist) with us to answer all the burning questions related to the ETF. We also discussed how investors may be positioned to capitalize on opportunities on the back of Singapore’s decarbonisation journey, to do good for their portfolio and our planet.
