  • Hello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education! It's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her normal brother Ron!

This week Laura and Ron take a mini break from the relentless slog of GCSE exams to have a look at the revision help on offer before Laura takes the plunge into Higher Tier.

First they take a quiz to find out what kind of a learner Laura is - spoiler alert: she’s not.

Then they look at some helpful exam advice that turns out to be utterly unhelpful.

Then they look at do’s and don’ts…

They realise that ultimately, nothing can help her.

  • Hello and welcome to another sparkling episode of Lexx Education! We are reaching the end of the foundation exams and finally get to the results from physics... will Laura be dreadful or brilliant? Will she flourish? Will they argue? Will they reminisce over trifle? So many questions... and finally... some answers.

Hello and welcome to another delightful episode of Lexx Education! It's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx attempts to learn science from her brother Ron, who is unfortunately absent for the intros and outros this week. Laura finds herself on the train home from Nottingham after a few nights on tour, but fear not, because the much-anticipated physics results are finally in!

After last week's Halloween special, it's back to exam business as Laura delves into the physics results. How did she fare? Did she manage to beat her expectations? Spoiler alert: Laura surprises herself with a stellar performance, scoring an impressive 76%! It seems the physics gods were smiling upon her, despite the rocky start with circuits.

In this episode, Laura and Ron navigate through various physics topics, from circuits to particles, and even a bungee jumping student. Laura's newfound exam skills shine through, and there are plenty of laughs along the way as they reminisce about trifle and the trials of exam season.

Next week, they'll take a break from exams to focus on some exam prep, gearing up for the higher-tier exams. Meanwhile, don't forget to check out the Guy Fawkes episode on Patreon, and keep an eye out for the live Cheerful Earful episode coming soon.

Tickets for the Leicester Festival show on the 9th of February are now on sale, so grab yours and join in the fun. As always, thank you for listening, and remember to keep those pencils down!

  • Hello and welcome to another SPOOKY episode of Lexx Education!

First up we discuss Maki - naturally. We had been to a food fayre in Bristol that day sampling the local fayre and enjoying the skittish behaviour of Maki. Then we discuss the positives and negatives of spinach and whether or not it should be washed. Then it’s back to Maki for a good long minute and THEN we discuss all the things going wrong with our parents’ house and…

Then we finally get on to spiders! Ron has the science of spiders and Laura has the folklore… Laura brings tales of Ananse, Ukrainian Christmas spiders and Grandmother creation spiders. Ron has facts about how many species of spiders there are, what makes a spider… what’s the deal with the silk? That kind of jazz!

It’s a very happy lovely gentle Halloween special that meanders in Ron’s kitchen through his neighbours, through a food fayre they attended, Maki’s nonsense and all sorts of ramblings. It’s going to get giddy… so here’s your giddy warning that there’s a lot of tum cum and bum thumb chat in the second half.

  • Hello and welcome to another excellent episode of Lexx Education! It's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science via her younger brother Ron. Is Ron a science teacher? No. Does Laura want to learn science? No. But that's not going to stop them trying.

This week they bring you intros and outros live from the Cheerful Earful Podcast Festival where they are recording their patreon Halloween episode on werewolves. That will be out in a few weeks and if you want to hear it go to patreon.com/lexxeducation and sign up for £3 per month.

This week though it is episode 2 of the physics foundation exam and Ron is too full of trifle, it's the end of a long terrible week of examining and we are ready for it all to be over.

Next week it's the Halloween special and then come back the week after that for the physics results!

Hello and welcome to the inaugural episode of Ron's House on Lexx Education! Join us as we embark on a chaotic journey filled with dogs, distractions, and a dash of chemistry results. Laura and Ron are recording from Ron's new abode, where professionalism takes a backseat to the antics of Mackie the dog and the aftermath of a peculiar art installation visit.

This episode is all about Chemistry results day, and it's a rollercoaster of emotions and knowledge. Laura navigates through her chemistry exam results with Ron's guidance, tackling atoms, isotopes, and the mysteries of the periodic table. There are moments of triumph, confusion, and a whole lot of laughter as they dive into the world of GCSE chemistry.

Expect the unexpected as they discuss everything from the properties of alloys to the peculiarities of nanoparticles. There's even a delightful game of turning song titles into "boys" puns, because why not? It's a delightful mess of science and silliness, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

  • Welcome back to part 2 of the biology exam... the bit where all the wheels start to come off, roll through dog poop and then hit the spectators in the head!

It starts back with malaria is a protist and into a new section.

They immediately have a disagreement about whether or not Laura should be befriending rats.

A word of warning - Ron is enthusiastically eating pistachios and then cleaning up his own pistachio mess during the beginning of this episode so sorry to everyone who hates all the messy noises that surround our speaking.

You really start to hear Laura’s frustration brimming into giddiness around the 16 minutes mark (of the exam - not the whole episode). She gets a bit whiny and groany.

Laura then joins in on eating the pistachios. At around the 18 minute mark (of the exam - not the whole episode) you might want to just take your headphones out for a while. And when we see a while... we mean until the end of the exam. It is the most eating noises experience on planet earth.

We hope you still love us after this.

  • Well hello there and welcome to what is not just another episode of Lexx Education.... it's the start of everything we've been working towards.

For over two years comedian Laura Lexx has been working painfully through the GCSE science syllabus with her younger, non comedian, brother Ron. And today, finally, the exams begin...

It's the first half of the Biology Foundation level exam. All three foundation exams were recorded in one week on consecutive nights so consider this the least exhausted, giddy and depressed they were.

It’s what we would call a messy start to what should be the epic firework display of our podcast. We finally sit down to do a biology exam but first Ron is playing Magic, then he thinks it’s Physics then he accidentally sends Laura the mark scheme. Smooth.

The exam begins. Laura gets steadily better at describing tables throughout the exam.

There are a few fun tangents for some black mold, some ants, some patreon chat and various other cul de sacs but really, it’s bam bam bam GCSE science exam. Make sure you are subscribed so that the second half arrives directly and smoothly next week... you won't want to miss it.

Don't forget our Cheerful Earful tickets for 20th October are now on sale: https://cheerfulearful.podlifeevents.com/festival/lexx-education-live-show-20th-oct-tickets

And you can support us on patreon.com/lexxeducation for just £3 per month in exchange for two bonus episodes and access to our discord.

  • Hello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education! It's the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her normal non comedian super nerd brother Ron.

This week we introduce an extra family member to the podcast - it's Youngest Sister of the Podcast AKA Meg! She joins us for a group revision session recorded in the garden of Agony Dad and Mother featuring Pigeon.

Laura and Meg compete on a combined science practice paper to see whether Laura has learned ANYTHING or if Meg can outpace her simply by having listened to the podcast and by having a brain.

We hope you love it! Exams start next week and if you want to show us your love as we edge into this new exciting phase then please feel free to go to patreon.com/lexxeducation and support this little project for only £3 per month.

  • Hello and welcome to yet another episode of Lexx Education! With the GCSE science syllabus complete, but the strict biology, chemistry physics cycle only being 1/3 of the way through, Laura insists that they spend two episodes treading water until they sit the exams.

However, in this episode it's not water they're treading - but Bean. It's end of term vibes as Laura and Ron decide to explore the world of Mr Bean and pay homage to Laura's favourite way to spend a final lesson of term. They watch some Bean, Laura laughs and Ron is reluctant, they talk about a multitude of bean related facts and then they do a deep dive into the original Mr Bean release schedule. It's pretty fuckin weird.

Welcome to another episode of Lexx Education, the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx and her brother Ron delve into the world of GCSE science and beyond. This week, with the GCSE syllabus finally behind them, Laura and Ron celebrate with an end-of-term episode dedicated to the timeless comedy of Mr. Bean.

Laura reminisces about the school days when a TV on a trolley meant a Mr. Bean marathon. Ron, on the other hand, is sceptical about Laura’s claims of watching Mr. Bean a million times. To settle the debate, they dive into the episodes and films, sharing laughs and quirky facts about Rowan Atkinson’s iconic character.

From the hilarity of Mr. Bean’s restaurant antics to the bizarre trivia about Rowan Atkinson’s life, this episode is packed with bean-related fun. Did you know Rowan Atkinson went to school with Tony Blair and studied electrical engineering at Oxford? Or that his brother narrowly missed leading UKIP? Laura and Ron explore these and other fascinating tidbits.

But it’s not all fun and games. The siblings also touch on Rowan Atkinson’s controversial political views and his surprising real-life heroics, like the time he took control of a plane in Kenya. And of course, they can’t resist discussing the infamous love triangle involving James Acaster and Louise Ford.

Welcome back to another episode of Lex Education, the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx attempts to grasp the mysteries of science with the help of her brother, Ron. Today is a momentous occasion as we reach the final episode in the GCSE syllabus. Yes, it's the last biology lesson and the last GCSE episode ever!

Laura and Ron dive into the complexities of the carbon and water cycles, discussing how carbon and water move through different parts of the ecosystem. Laura's artistic attempts at drawing the cycles provide some comic relief, while Ron tries to keep the lesson on track. They also touch upon the impacts of human activity on biodiversity and the environment, covering topics like deforestation, pollution, and waste management.

But it's not all science and seriousness. Laura and Ron get sidetracked by discussions about protests, parenting challenges, and even a bit of culinary disaster involving an overly fennel-flavoured curry. The episode wraps up with a quiz on the carbon and water cycles, and a promise of more fun to come in future episodes.

    Class dismissed!

  • Hello and welcome to... ah I mean honestly... what's the point? Ron has given up. Ron is so close to the end that his ever intermittent commitment has gone in a puff of smoke. So we just fuck about for an hour. Enjoy.

This week, Laura and Ron are back with their usual banter, but things take a bit of a detour. Laura's in Manchester, dealing with a headache and a frustrating shopping trip, while Ron's got his own issues with blisters from a misguided flip-flop walk to get vaccinated. They chat about everything from clothing dilemmas to Ron's recent gift of a £30 voucher and the woes of public speaking.

They also dive into a discussion about favourite soft drinks, with Laura and Ron debating the merits of Oasis and Rio. There's an amusing tangent about Laura's child's antics with toilet water and the challenges of potty training. The conversation meanders through various topics, including gymnastics, the Bristol Harbour Festival, and the intricacies of Olympic sports.

Eventually, they attempt to tackle some physics revision, but it quickly devolves into a quiz that leaves Laura questioning her knowledge. They wrap up with a Sonic character quiz, revealing Laura as Knuckles, much to her confusion. It's a chaotic but entertaining episode filled with laughter, random trivia, and the usual sibling dynamic that keeps listeners coming back for more.

  • Hello and welcome to another smashing episode of Lexx Education! This week Ron is still on holiday so Husband of the Podcast Tom joins Laura for intros and outros but the episode itself is Laura and Ron having a gloomy old time going over early chemistry.

It’s a very low energy start where Laura is still mad at Ron for not telling her about moving house. Gnocchi the cat is there and Ron isn’t interested in any of the fun things coming up which really stifles Laura’s enthusiasm.

Recapping early chemistry… plum pudding and all that jazz. The gold foil test - Rutherford! Laura actually has remembered vast swathes of this stuff which let’s face it we’re all impressed with.

We move onto radiation which Laura claims to love but honestly doesn’t remember a second of because, wait for it, we’re not studying it in the same subject that we first covered it in. That brain. That swampy swampy brain.

Relative charge Laura has down… it’s like listening to a different podcast for a moment. Then we move on to relative mass and… holy crap she’s got it again.

Somehow we get on to religion for a while… it’s not even an RE episode. So much crossover these days. Back to the science and we’re looking at all the groups on the periodic table and then types of bonds.

  • Hello and welcome to a very special episode of Lexx Education - featuring the very first BOAT EPISODE (well... portion). Ron has dashed off on holiday so it's a solo intro from Laura but then it's a delightful penultimate biology episode where it feels like very old school classic Lexx Education!

I'll be totally honest, while I'm writing this Agony Dad just handed child of the podcast half a pint of pineapple juice unsupervised so this'll do as a description and i'll add to it later in the week. Peace x

    Ok. I'm back with more:

Hello and welcome to another episode of Lexx Education, the comedy science podcast where comedian Laura Lexx tries to learn science from her nerdy younger brother, Ron. This week's episode features a special boat intro and outro from Laura, as Ron has sailed off to Portugal, leaving Laura to navigate the podcast solo from Bristol Harbourfest.

Despite the bustling backdrop of Bristol's festivities, Laura dives into a delightful biology lesson. The episode covers the final module of biology, touching on ecosystems, producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, and tertiary consumers. Laura and Ron also explore abiotic factors, interdependence, and competition within ecosystems. Expect some classic Lexx Education banter, including a hilarious misunderstanding about how candles work and a special listener question from H. Martin.

  • Hello and welcome to the start of the third year of Lexx Education - we're so glad to have you here!

This week starts proper old school with Laura in Brighton and Ron in Brussels! It sees the return of Gnocchi the cat - woah! Ron is actually so committed to the podcast that he has taken his microphone to Brussels!

    Get your Cheerful Earful tickets!

    Get your Laura tour tickets!

As for the lesson... Starts with a lot of pauses while we think of tooth puns, then we discuss Glastonbury, then we recap something we’ve already recapped which is embarrassing for both of us.

    We hope you love it!
