The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is one of the greatest American novels of all time. It's heroine, Hester Prynne, is subject to discrimination and ostracization because of her past mistakes and has no one to turn to in the harsh new world that she's been thrust into. It's a heartbreakingly beautiful story, and we've paired it with a heartbreakingly beautiful song: Guilded cage by Blackmore's Night.
