Who are we? This week we are discussing this question and looking at the truths we know about ourselves from the Bible and why they matter for our everyday life.
First of all, we must remember that the Bible is not a book primarily about us. It is a story of God and His redemption of His people for His glory. In that, He has given us much instruction that impacts the way we live when we have been redeemed.
These are truths we know:
We are made in the image of God. (Genesis 1:26-27)
We are sinners. (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)
We are in need of a rescuer. (Romans 5:8)
Reading Scripture through the lens of God’s glory for our good, the instruction and admonitions we find will change the way we live our everyday lives.

It is always easy to find the things we don’t like about our current situation. It’s too hot, it’s too cold, the rain ruined our plans . . . we could go on like this for ages!
But do we ever stop and look at all the things God has given us that we need, and even more than that, that we enjoy? Why does He do this? Because our joy and delight and trust in Him brings Him glory. It’s what He’s all about.
Let’s look for gifts that thrill our souls this week and share them with our children!

How can we praise God instead?

Who is God? What is He like? Why does it matter?
We need the Bible to show us who God is. Because the Bible is not primarily a book about us! We were made to have a relationship with God. We cannot do that if we do not know Him! The better we know God, the more we will love Him and the better we will image Him.
