  • This week on the Live to Walk Again Podcast we had the chance to speak with Richie Garcia who is a Disability Advocate and Spinal Cord Injury Survivor. We talked about the motorcycle accident that resulted in his spinal cord injury, transitioning home and out of the "hospital bubble", and his plans to travel to Columbia next week for a stem cell therapy at BioXcellerator. We also chatted about the price of the therapy, traveling such a long distance, and information around the logistics once he is in Columbia.   • This week on the Live to Walk Again Podcast we had the pleasure of doing a roundtable discussion with amateur neuroscientist, Spinal Cord Injury Survivor, and retired firefighter Devon Colbert along with Dr. David W McMillan who is a Research Assistant Prof. in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami and the Dir. of Education and Outreach at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. In this episode we briefly discussed Devon's experimentation with psilocybin in hopes of finding a useful treatment to help in restoring function after spinal cord injury, the research studies he's been working on since he was last on the podcast, and some related studies that Dr. McMillan has worked on. We also chatted about some of the dangers of using psychedelics after a spinal cord injury including spasms and the potential to overheat your body's core temperature.
