Iâm honored to have such an amazing guest speaking about a topic that is now very personal to me. In this episode I share about my own infertility journey and how itâs impacted my career path. Iâve wrestled with sharing this so publicly, but when I first went through fertility treatments I couldnât find many resources about this topic and work. I want to help other women who are going through an infertility diagnosis and trying to figure out how to stay sane and just make it to work every day. This is by far the hardest problem Iâve ever faced. If you personally donât struggle with infertility, the data shows that you know someone who is struggling or has in the past (one in eight couples has some type of fertility issue), so itâs important to know how to talk about it and support other women.Camille discusses how to help an employee or coworker going through infertility treatments, how to handle your boss if youâre about to go through fertility treatments yourself and how to talk about this sensitive topic with others.Camille Hawkins is an entrepreneur, advocate, mental health counselor, and the founder of the Utah Infertility Resource Center. She holds both a bachelors and masters degree in social work as well as a certificate in nonprofit management. Camille was recognized by Utah Business Magazine as a 20 in Their 20’s honoree and given the Early Career Community Award by Utah State’s Women & Gener Studies Department. She is actively involved in local advocacy, research, teaching, and community outreach as well as directly helping therapy clients one-on-one with reproductive trauma and perinatal mental health concerns.

"No one knows what you need but you"
Katie Huey joins Livlyhood to share her unique perspective on handling grief in the workplace. Our conversation was so enlightening! I loved learning about the four types of people in your life during a crisis, and how to better prepare managers and employers to aid employees going through the grief process.
My favorite part of the episode is when Katie described how she discovered the bummer truth that only she knew how best to help herself when her dad passed away unexpectedly. She discusses that it's really hard to know what that is at the start, but that you can be brave and ask for what you need. Sometimes this even requires patience as you figure that out moment by moment as you go through the grieving process. It takes hard work because no one will successfully tell you what you need, so tuning into those feelings is really important.
Katie Huey is a writer, marketer, and administrator. After starting a career in nonprofit fundraising and administration, she is thrilled to now be working with a consulting team who believes companies can impact the world for good. Her freelance writing has appeared in Invoke Magazine, Conscious Company Magazine and Hello Humans. She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Colorado.
