Playing the blues not only requires diligence and dedication, but also an inherent sense of purpose and passion. Guitarist and vocalist J.P. A first place winner of the Blues Foundation 2009 International Blues Challenge, the Albert King Best Guitarist Award, any number of Blues Music nominations as Best Contemporary Male Blues Artist, and a nod for Best Blues Album, he’s been the recipient of continuing critical kudos, extensive worldwide airplay and sales that have elevated him to the uppermost rungs of every major Blues chart.

Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Anthony Geraci
Pianist, Hammond organist and composer Anthony Geraci was born in New Haven, CT in 1954. His interest in playing piano began at age four when he told his parents “I want a piano!” Kind of an odd request when most kids want a new baseball glove or bicycle. His parents weren’t musical-not even a record player at their house- but they always supported his undeniable passion for music. They soon bought a Kimball Grand Piano that his mother paid $4 a week to own. Lessons at the Neighborhood School of Music, affiliated with Yale University, soon followed. At around the age of sixteen he befriended a fellow musician, Ed Cherry, at high school. They began listening to music together after school and one day Ed played a Jimmy Rogers recording, Chicago Bound, that literally changed his life. Ed went on to be Dizzy Gillespie’s guitarist for many years.

Making a Scene Brings you an interview with Stevie and the Blue Flames
Stevie and the Blue Flames has been a Seattle fixture since the 1980s, and has performed in local clubs, parties, and numerous festivals. They are known for their intensity, great songwriting, and world class musicianship. The material is blues, but the songs are either original or carefully selected covers of traditional music, avoiding the worn out "bar band" favorites. The tempos are up: swing, shuffles, and funk to keep the dancers happy.

Making a Scene Brings you an Interview with Lou Black
Lou Black is a Peruvian born, Washington DC based singer/songwriter/producer/video artist/statistician. His 2004 debut album (“City of No Winters”) has been described by the press as “sophisticated global pop” and “one of the best in the singer songwriter genre,” but Lou Black describes his music as “subversive pop songs of social commentary and personal struggle. I have many musical influences, my primary ones being Roy Orbison and the Velvet Underground, but I always like to keep track of what listeners/fans say I remind them of. The list is broad, but there are some frequent references to Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, Bryan Ferry, Lou Reed, Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, Weezer, Pixies, Billy Idol, Tom Waits,
Enrique Bunbury, and Raul Seixas, to name a few."http://www.makingascene.org

Making a Scene Brings you an Interview with Bart Bryant
How does a Connecticut transplant from Baltimore grow to pull off Austin-style hard drivin’ heavy Blues & Rock and Roll? While from Baltimore, his fluid vocals and Blues-Rock guitar style have entertained audiences in Connecticut and Austin, Texas since his teens. His solo acoustic and band (Current) work in New Haven, CT and the Tri-State area gained him access to producers. By the late 70s Bart started recording his original songs. Recognition also brought warm-up band gigs for national acts at Toad’s Place. Work with legendary artists like The Roches, Jorma Kaukonen, Poco, Pousette-Dart Band, Jonathan Edwards, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Aztec Two-Step, Pure Prairie League, Johnny Winter, John Butcher, New Riders of the Purple Sage all had influence on Bryant’s work & aspirations.
