5 Strategies for Coping with Election Stress
A lot of us are experiencing a lot of election anxiety right now, while also being expected to keep showing up in our lives and our work. So how do you cope with that? In this episode, I offer 5 strategies on coping with election anxiety, being able to show up to your life even with lower energy and an overwhelmed nervous system, and being able to connect with others during this stressful time.
To summarize, the five strategies are:
1. Not blaming yourself for feeling frozen or less productive right now
2. Developing some grounding practices
3. Applying triage to your schedule and doing your work with a lot less intensity than usual
4. Focusing on the parts of the election you can control - voting, talking to others about voting, volunteering
5. Developing and leaning on your community
If you need additional support with stress relief right now, I am offering 30-min 1-on-1 stress-relief calls, and offering the first call for free. To book your call, go to restovergrind.com/work-with-meTo get in touch with Maria:

After a brief end-of-summer break, Making Work Fun is back with both Maria and Natasha and a very special guest - Keli Lyn Jewel - talking about how the way you think about something can make such a big difference in how you experience it! A prime example of that is sales - a lot of us have very loaded thoughts about selling and Keli brings some drastically different and fun perspectives to the process of selling. What if you thought of sales as just a simple conversation? What if you thought sales is as fun as a party? What if we all accepted that consent is essential to selling? Take a listen to learn how you can shift your perspective on selling AND anything else in your life that you need to view through a different lens.

This week, Maria talks to Sharon Kiely - a career, executive and life coach for high achievers - about how black and white thinking can scare us out of making the changes we are craving, how to navigate impostor syndrome as a high achiever, and how approaching challenges can be so much easier if we do it with a playful mindset.
Sharon is a full time certified coach specializing in career, executive and life coaching. She coaches 1:1 and in groups. Her coaching practice spans across the US, Europe and Mexico.
Initially, Sharon worked as an Internist focused on primary & preventive care, medical education and care to underserved groups. She believes that systems, and what we do directly impacts the results we experience- and optimistically believes that change and improvement is always an option.
Sharon was selected as a White House Fellow and learned how to apply policy to systems and improve people's lives. Later, as a healthcare executive- chief quality officer, chief medical officer and chief wellness officer- she worked to change systems toward improved outcomes for patients, by focusing on those who deliver the care including physicians, clinicians, leaders and staff. As a chief wellness officer during the Covid pandemic, she trained and certified as a coach to help more people, faster and with more clarity. Her approach to coaching clients is holistic, taking into view their goals in the context of their full lives, and applying evidence-based practices to coaching. She encourages her clients to both dream big and apply small changes and pragmatic skills to achieve their ever-changing and awesome goals.
Sharon teaches negotiation and career development at The Thomas Jefferson University, School of Population Health. She is Professor, Internal Medicine at The Frank H. Netter School of Medicine, Quinnipiac University. She and her husband have 4 adult children and live in Connecticut.
