  • Join me and Jeff Harry, who combines positive psychology and play to heal workplaces, help teams build psychological safety and assist individuals in addressing their biggest challenges by embracing a play-oriented approach to work. Jeff has been featured in the NY Times, HuffPost, Shondaland, NPR, and more and has worked with Google, Microsoft, Amazon, the NFL and other Fortune 500 companies to infuse more play into the day-to-day.

Jeff’s main goal is to make work suck less by assisting leaders in building a playground workplace atmosphere that motivates their staff to do their most vibrant work.

    In this episode, we discuss:

why being cool is too much work đŸ€Ł, how play is the opposite of perfection and expectations are the thief of joy, why you should ask yourself, "How can it get any better than this," the ripple effect of joy, the monetization mistake our society makes, how to find more play in your life, how having things to look forward to can combat depression, why you should take a silly tour in your own city, how to utilize reverse gossip, the difference between a transactional conversation and a transformational conversation, and the importance of human connection.

  • Join me and Veronica Llorca-Smith, a four-time published author THIS YEAR, triathlete, public speaker, and leadership consultant; she is, quite literally, a superwoman.

She writes about growth mindset, personal development and positivity, has lived in nine countries, and speaks six languages. She is a mom to two humans and a fur baby and has completed an Ironman.

I am in awe of her, so forgive my gushing as we discuss:

why she started writing, which platforms she chose and why, the difference between a niche and a vision (spoiler: multi-passionates need a vision), the value of an action bias, building community with Substack, and how to incentivize paid subscriptions (this part is GOLD), the time management system that makes her bionic and how grit helps turn struggles into strengths.

  • Welcome back to another Meet the Mentors episode where my podcast growth coach, Adam Schaueble, and I dish about podcast guesting best practices and what not to do . . . EVER.

We discuss what makes guests stand out - the good, the bad and the ugly - at each stage of the process:

    Outreach

use the Top 200 charts to find shows to pitch, pitch a mutually beneficial "collaboration," how NOT to end up in the guest pitch Hall of Shame, unique ways to stand out, what to put on your one-sheet, the best podcast/guest matchmaking service.

    Preparing

how to show up prepped and polished like a boss.

    Recording

the ultimate podcast guesting crime, how to become the kind of guest that gets referred out, being memorable by leaving the listeners with a challenge.

    Promotion

the benefit of creating unique URLs and landing pages for each specific show, the BEST guests do these two things, how to build link juice and domain authority, leveraging flattery to your advantage.

Loom is a service that lets you make videos (5 minutes or less) for free that you can send in your pitches.

Here's the impressive video pitch Kris Bryant from Episode #107 sent me. Simple, but memorable.

Here's my one-sheet to get your creative juices flowing.

ConvertKit lets you clone landing pages lickety-split.

Kajabi, Squarespace, vanity URLs, Bitly and the Pretty Links plugin are all ways to create memorable links.

  • If productivity is challenging with all the different pursuits vying for your attention, you’re in the right place. In this episode, we’re contesting the “just work on one thing at a time” rule because it doesn’t align with our nature – at all. Instead, I introduce the concept of flexible structure and unpack the Pie-Chart Method for managing multiple projects effectively.

The Pie-Chart Method uses the Four P’s:

Plugging the time holes, Picking your projects, Picking your productivity system, and Prioritizing your time on the calendar.

I delve into these steps, starting with plugging time holes via time tracking. Next, I discuss picking your projects by allocating your time into five “pie” slices, acknowledging the different aspects of your life. Finally, I’ll help you choose the right productivity system, whether batching, the School Day Method, or something else that suits your unique style. Lastly, I discuss how whitespace can help you protect time for what truly matters.

Check out Time Management for Squirrel Brains if you need help choosing a productivity system.

The task manager that I use is Nozbe, and my notes app is Notion. Both are the bomb dot com.
