Overtake! Overtake!
This week, Matt and Cody are in the calm before the storm and jumping into the bed of a truck towards the end of the world! The boys talk all about "oners", drug laden youths, and the contagion subgenre, while also having a field day with nosy neighbors, impossible devices, cool cars, and even find time to break out their maybe definitely not French accents. Don't worry, they go all out over theories of the outbreak, the terror of being interrupted at karaoke, and the origins of Al, famously of the Canal.
No paprika was harmed during the making of this episode...THEY ASSUME!

Help them! Help them! They're still podcasting!
This week, Cody and Matt enter the Midnight Realm and go toe-to-toe with Mr. Melancholy over the latest feature film from director Jane Shoenbrun. They discuss the relationship between nostalgia and media, the dizzying perspective of alternate realities, and the benefit of queer and trans voices in the horror medium. The boys also spar over stylistic direction while trying to figure out which one of them is Marco and which is Polo.
Don't sit too close to the screen, you'll mess up your eyes!

"Happy Halloween, dear..."
It's part two of the Night Howls annual Howl-o-ween Double Feature and these films are bringing double the night, double the demons, and double the howls. This week, Matt and Cody cover a staple of the 80's video nasties with Angela, Suzanne, and other character names the boys still can't get right. They talk all about the Goth Glam of Angela and the lack thereof for the other characters. But it's not all bad, they have a lot to say about grosteque monster effects, deadly places to boink, next-level spooky atmosphere, homages to other classics, and one of the most shocking last-minute Fred Gwynne wins ever covered.
Give us a hand or at least an ear. It's time to celebrate the most wonderful time of year!

Curses! It's Halloween and you've got an appointment... with a Demon!
This week, Cody and Matt place a hex on each other with a double feature straight from Hell. First, they discuss the mystery of Stonehenge, the danger of downed telephone lines, and proper airplane etiquette. They also mull over the fears of children and the influence mysticism has on the horror genre. If that isn't enough for you, they've got a cult leader with suspiciously textured facial hair to discuss named Karswell... or Carsdale... or Karnsdale...
What? Were you looking for a Halloween miracle? They still can't remember anyone's name.

Here, killer killer!
This week, Matt and Cody have one of their loudest discussions about one of the quietest movies they've ever covered. The boys talk all about the home invasion sub-genre, the power couple that is Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel, and how to make a simple story feel complex. Not to mention: bitchy cats, burglar tats, and questionable strat...egies. Plus! Stay tuned for the latter half to hear the special Beyond Fest Q+A for all of the fun behind the scenes you could want.

This week, Cody and Matt check their stockings and discuss ferocious filmmaking ,narrative nuances, and grotesque gore. As expected, the boys go all out on Art the Clown while discussing physical bits, comic timing, and how David Howard Thornton has earned his place in horror history.

BURN IN HELL!
This week, Matt and Cody are certainly the secretaries of something as they deep-dive into this Wes Craven cult classic, while also celebrating the birthdays of Fool, Wendy Robie, and one of the top two hosts of this program. The boys talk about the social and political ramifications of the film...just kidding...you know they have a field day with odd make-up choices, precarious tarot illustrations, fairy-tale parallels, doors in other doors, viciously adorable pups, one of the iconic mothers of horror, and why exactly are the people under there anyway...Not to mention: a fun recent celebrity run-in they had this spooky season.
This one's sure to scare your hair white so turn the tv towards the crack and guard your doubloons!

Bughuul! Bughuul! Bughuul! Wait... wrong trickster demon.
This week, Cody and Matt fire up the old Super 8 projector and screen what just might be the "scariest movie of all time!" Between reels, the boys discuss troubled writers, effective jump scares, and this film's greater context in the horror landscape of the 2010's. They also buddy up with Sheriff Grizzled, Deputy So-and-So, and Professor Skype. Trust them, it'll make sense by the end of the episode.
Break out the eyeliner and put on your finest coat and tails for this certified horror hit!

MILK!
This week, Matt and Cody are Back! Back! We're Sorry! The boys talk about their Summer apart and are taking this week's pick all the way to the bank...head. They discuss the life and legacy of the iconic Tallulah Bankhead and the "old biddy" subgenre while also having a hay..hair?...day with scene-chewing performances, hilarious European driving techniques, pro-wrestling maids, incredibly sexy portraiture, and boggy blue boys left below. Not to mention, they are joined by this week's listener recommender and mutual long-time friend, Terrie Miller, to get her take on what gave this film it's lasting impact.
They're drowning in Bankhead impressions over here so unless you want to end up soggy in a basement, turn this car around while you still have a chance!

How do you solve a problem like The Strangers?
With one hell of a solid sequel, apparently! This week, Cody and Matt rejoin the terrifying trio at a lakeside retreat where only the finest of veteran character actors retire. They discuss 80's inspiration, nuclear family annihilation, and sequel anticipation while trying to figure out what happens after 10pm in Gatlin. They also pitch their ideas for a third entry in this continuity and how they feel about a complete reboot with Chapter One.
Something strange is in the air... and it's probably this show!

hElLo...hello...HELLO!
This week, Matt and Cody are unscrewing a bulb and stalking their way through one of modern Horror's home invasion masterpieces. The boys unmask all the gritty details of simple story-telling, pristine direction, effective sound design, and powerfully non-method performances. Not to mention: Tamara theories, the throes of relationship woes, the fear-inducing sound of Joanna Newsom, and the real drama of the inevitable and hilarious next door neighbors. And of course, the ice cream. How could they not talk about the ice cream?!
Tamara may not be home, but you should be for this week's episode!

Game over!
This week, Cody and Matt wrap up their time on LV-426 with the mother of all sequels! They discuss the affect of 80's machismo, what to do when you find a feral child, and just how dangerous it can be when you trust a company man. Between fried eggs, the boys also discuss men in rubber suits, kids falling down chutes, and cutting ties with your horror roots! Oh yeah, and a little director called Jimmy Cameron.
Consider this podcast terraformed into the ideal den for an expectant Mother Alien!

Here kitty kitty...
This week, Matt and Cody continue their journey (chronologically) with the tow that started it all. The boys wax poetic about patience in building suspense, powerful acting ensembles, parallels to the circle of life, the beeps and boops of effective sound design, and the quaint use of technology from yesteryear. Not to mention: ineffective felines, shocking chest pains, the fear of going through a thin layer of mist, gender dynamics in heroic people, terrifying creature aesthetics, and why everyone refers to Sir Ridley Scott as such.

At long last, Cody and Matt find themselves waking up from cryo-sleep to catch up on the Alien franchise! Welcome to Night...Owls?!
This week, Matt and Cody tune in and tune back for one of the buzziest titles to hit late night and the Horror zeitgeist all year! Not to mention: powerful talk show sidekicks, healthy psychic skepticism, and who really is the devil around here...

Life at last!
This week, Cody and Matt lay down some tasty jams and sizzling riffs in the second half of their De Palma De Double De Feature! They discuss tantalizing toe-tappers, superb cinematography, and that pretty wild Paul Williams. They also dive deep into the spooky resonance of theatrical superstitions while having real-time realizations of why Swan has a camera fixated on his bed.
Then, Matt is joined by the Grand Ghoul himself: The Phantom of Isaac Rother & The Phantoms! He's stopped by to give Night Howls the heebie-jeebies and talk all things rock and roll. He discusses his albums, his stage show, and how to get a great deal on a custom guitar!

These are Godless times, Mrs. Snell...
It's their annual Mother's Day episode so this week, Matt and Cody finally chat about one of the films they reference most on this show and their second Stephen King adaptation of the year. The boys talk iconic actors, diabolical mothers, and telekinetic super powers. Not to mention: difficult oral predicaments, the awkwardness of the high school locker room, subpar graffiti, what constituted texting in the 70's, and even their own prom experiences. You could say Brian truly has them in De Palma his hand.
Plus, Cody is joined by an extra special guest to figure out what is really going on with Carrie...and with him.
Eve may have been weak, but you certainly aren't if you make it this far so thanks for listening!

They're always looking for an excuse to sing.
This week, Cody and Matt take a stroll down one of London's most infamous streets looking for a shave... but find one of their most chaotic episodes yet! They discuss the villainous star-power of Tod Slaughter, the timelessness of the original tale, and the hilarity of a clueless romantic lead. There's also plenty of hilarious hats, nonsensical Nans, and mouth-watering meat pies to keep your bellies full.
Thank Todd for all these beautiful throats... and thank you for listening!

Are they being paid by the word?
This week, Matt and Cody are once again joined by playwright and educator Emily McClain to talk about more animatronic killers and sadly less Nicolas Cage. The gang discusses major differences between the game source material and how this version matches up against it's own copycats...or maybe cupcakes in this instance. Not to mention: influencers infringing upon Hollywood's dayplayers, what time period we think the film may be set in, the Blumhouse of it all, choreographed child dance sequences, the power of Matthew Lillard, and who the hell wants to go to Nebraska anyway.
Don't open that fridge and don't forget to lock the door...

Something's rotten!
This week, Cody and Matt visit one of 2023's most shocking horror films. They discuss expert world-building, the marvels of a well crafted mystery, and the top notch gore that goes into turning your child into a popcorn bucket. If that wasn't gruesome enough for you, they also discuss the ill-fated grandma, the foul smelling neighbor, and the broadway-bound musical!
Call the cleaner and hide the axes, something wicked this way... lurks.
Thanks for listening!
