It listens to natural speech, interprets it, and generates another spoken output, sometimes even translating languages in real time. Unlike traditional speech recognition, which primarily converts speech to text, speech-to-speech AI adds a layer of spoken output that preserves nuances like tone and emotion. For us orthodontists, the potential of this technology goes far beyond communication. It offers transformative possibilities for how clinicians interact with patients, manage workflows, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.

Hallucinations in generative AI are essentially "nonsense responses," as described by a participant in one of our AI Sprints training sessions. These hallucinations refer to outputs that seem accurate but are, in fact, incorrect, irrelevant, or entirely fabricated. An exciting conversation about the Generative Ai limitations and how to prevent hallucinations and use responsible AI in Orthodontics.
