  • On  this week's episode, we continue with our final week of solutions. We end with our spirit wheel, which I think is the most important of all. When depressed, we don't feel connected. We feel alone. We hunger for connection. We are often punishing ourselves and keeping walls up to protect ourselves from getting hurt by others, or getting scorned and rejected by God. Let's take a deeper look at our spirit and just  how it can greatly affect our mental health.

  • On this week's episode, we continue with more solutions. We are moving from our emotions to our mind, which are obviously very closely related. Remember, it's all about balance. Depression and anxiety throws us off balance. It's our bodies' way of telling us something is wrong. A check engine light is blinking and as the holidays and winter approach, it's likely to be relentless. Let's take a deeper look at our mind and just how that affects our mental health.

  • Social media is changing our world as we know it. Is it also contributing to our growing anxiety, depression and suicide rates? You bet it is. This podcast talks about why it's holding us back and what we can do about it, esp if we are struggling with depression and anxiety right now.

  • Depression, like everything, isn’t one size fits all. There are ranges. We don’t talk enough about full-fledge depression or it’s ugly ending - suicide. We really don’t talk enough about how to prevent it. It all starts with a conversation. Are you “pressing” yourself down and not even realizing you aren’t living optimally? You were designed to thrive and be happy, but statistics show that 80% of Americans are anything but.

  • Our first guest is hear to openly share her story of losing her 29-year-old son to suicide in 2016. This is a parent's worst nightmare, but our guest, Shari Kennedy, has used the pain to bring light and awareness to mental health. She is also proof of just how important it is for a community to come together during a tragic loss.

  • Grief looks different for everyone. We all have different stories, different traumas and different coping skills. No matter who you lost, what you lost or how you lost it, the pain is real. We need to stop invalidating our pain and comparing our grief to the story of another. We also need to stop invalidating our depression. All of this begins with awareness. Let’s talk about it.

  • This is me. It’s not me being perfect. I am, after all, a perfectly imperfect life coach. Nope, this is me not being able to get my fancy microphone up and running without an echo. This is me with my noisy birds chirping in the background sometimes. This is me with someone making some noise in the kitchen. This is me, telling my story and being vulnerable about things we don’t like to talk about. I didn’t want to start with me, but as I continued to “disqualify” myself from making this podcast real, I knew I had to. It doesn’t change my credentials, and if you need credentials, this podcast isn’t for you. This podcast is just going to be a bunch of real people, with real stories, talking about real depression, real and raw stories and real loss. I will bring in some real experts, who know a lot more than I do, but not today. Today, it’s just me.
