  • FOUNDER OF KOULIKOV GRAPPLING ACADEMY (KGA), VLAD IS A WORLD CHAMPION COMPETITOR; PLACING THREE TIMES IN THE USA OPEN AND REPRESENTED TEAM USA IN COMBAT SAMBO IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2008. PLACED AND WON MULTIPLE NAGA AND GRAPPLERS QUEST TOURNAMENTS AND WAS AWARDED THE MOST TECHNICAL FIGHTER IN THE VERY FIRST GRAPPLERS QUEST COMPETITION WINNING ALL HIS MATCHES BY SUBMISSIONS.

VLAD’S LATEST ACHIEVEMENTS INCLUDE WINNING COMBAT WRESTLING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN HONJO, JAPAN 2017 AS WELL AS SHUAI JIAO NATIONAL CHAMPION 2018.

    It all started when

As you might have guessed, I’m Russian. Some kids get into martial arts because their parents want them to train for various reasons—being bullied, improving focus, and gaining discipline to name a few. That was not the case with me. My older cousin and my dad were my inspiration.

My father was my role model during my childhood. He wrestled, boxed and did power promotion things such as ripping chains, bending coins, and wrapping nails around his fingers. In the southern resort towns, there were several of kiosks where passers could test their strength. I remember one particular grip strength indicator. My dad always squeezed it hard enough to cause the arrow to go beyond the highest number. I wanted to be just like him.

In 1996, I immigrated to the United States. Upon arrival to the U.S., I couldn’t find a SAMBO gym. I started to go to a grappling club in the area where I was exposed to Jiu Jitsu. I fell in love immediately. It made sense to me and wasn’t a much of a departure from SAMBO. They are both grappling arts, after all.

Both SAMBO and Jiu Jitsu have their strengths. And both have plenty of restrictions. There are fewer restrictions in no-gi sub grappling, and I’ve always preferred it.

My SAMBO background has enhanced my Jiu Jitsu performance. I have learned to implement and adapt my SAMBO skills to the Jiu Jitsu rules. Just like in chemistry, you get a reaction if you mix two agents. It took some time to get rid of “bad” habits from SAMBO such as turtling once in a danger of being pinned. Also, it took some time to be comfortable to be on my back. I would willingly play off my back in practice but would try my hardest not to end up facing the ceiling in competition.

Here in the United States, I placed three times in the USA Open and represented team USA in combat SAMBO in the World Championship in 2008. I also placed and won multiple NAGA and Grapplers Quest tournaments and was awarded the most technical fighter in the very first Grapplers Quest competition winning all my matches by submissions.

I am fluent in Russian and English. I enjoy reading, music, and philosophy.

  • Mistie Layne is on a mission to make TRANSPARENCY a game-changer in the world.

After going from medical school to prison for killing somebody in a car accident behind a horrific crack

cocaine addiction, she used writing to pull herself up and save her own life. Her best-selling book, What

Goes Up, was written from behind bars while she faced a forty-year prison sentence.

After serving 2.5 years in prison, she returned to society and rebuilt her relationships, life and career. Nine years later, on

the exact same day her wreck killed somebody, her first grandchild was born with severe brain damage

    from a birth injury.

Immediately, she blamed herself and thought it was her punishment for her past.

She became distant and the GUILT of it all put her back into her past where she felt toxic all over again.

Mistie realized she was letting her past rob her of her future and was tired of hiding behind SHAME and

    GUILT.

She decided it was time to become TRANSPARENT about her experiences in hopes of teaching

others about overcoming their worst to live their best and also about self-forgiveness. With newfound

clarity of her WHY, she rewrote her book, changing it from a dark tone of anger and blame to one of

    accountability and forgiveness.

Mistie is now an award-winning speaker, best-selling author, successful

host of Dare 2 Share with Mistie Layne talk show, and host of her Write 2 Ignite Womens

Empowerment Retreats, where she teaches how to use writing as therapy. She founded the

#BethatONE movement which encourages others to step up and share their life experiences with

transparency to educate others so we can JUDGE less and MENTOR more.

She has a full time Nuclear Medicine career, was recently named 3rd in the Next Global Impactor

competition and serves as Vice President on the Chemobuddies 4 Life non-profit board.

  • Through my 20 years in practice, I’ve been blessed to have thousands of patients that trusted me to be their guide when they were lost in the darkness of chronic pain and disease. Each case was a unique puzzle and offered unique challenges. However, with more and more experience, patterns began to emerge.

I became obsessed with finding the common denominators of health and longevity. Surely, there must be a way to address the individual needs of each person, while acknowledging the biological truths that unite all of us.

The Path to Dr Stern Supplements

I have always been a firm believer in the strength of natural herbs and remedies. After first moving to NYC, I would bike from my Brooklyn home to a shop in Chinatown to purchase combinations of herbs to use to make healing teas and tonics. However, as my patients needed recommendations, I became more and more disappointed with the options for health supplements that were available on the market.

They lacked important ingredients, skimped on quality to cut costs, or contained fillers or mixing agents that had been shown to be detrimental to long-term health. I realized that the only way that I would be able to recommend a formula that truly addressed the health needs of my patients, would be if I created those formulas myself.

Furthermore, while I maximize the number of patients that I see each day by coming in early and staying late at my office, I am still limited by hours in the day. I yearned to help more people by giving them access to small, easy steps that they could take at home, based on the truths that I had discovered in my years of practice.

Now years later, these simple discoveries have been life-changing for tens of thousands of people that have trusted Dr. Stern Supplements to help guide them to more vibrant health. With that said, I’m honored to have you here, and whether you decide to invest in any of my formulations or not, I am happy to answer any questions that you may have, and help you solve the puzzle of your own health.
