Hospitality thrives when experience fuels the next generation.
While working as a waiter, Nah-Dja would line up with his colleagues to have his fingernails, clothing and breath checked by his manager, and if something wasn’t right, they would be hit in the head with a stick. “This is ONE way of mentorship.” Laughs out Nah-Dja.
Mauricio asked one of the most inspirational people that he knows about the role of mentorship in hospitality and we were shocked by the stories we heard.
Though mentorship has been around hospitality from its beginnings. In the past decade the rise of mentorship programs has changed its relevance and finding the right mentors for aspiring hospitality professionals became a game changer for career development.

This is a common saying among the industry.
During his days working with a celebrity chef in Australia, Mauricio was working 80 hours a week. He approached the head chef to ask when his hours would be back to the normal schedule, only to be answered: “Mauricio, where would you possibly be having more fun than here with the boys?”
