Before âScream,â Wes Craven cemented his status as a horror filmmaking legend with Freddy Kruger and the âA Nightmare on Elm Streetâ film series. The original film, written and directed by Craven, celebrated its 40th anniversary on November 16. Chase scenes are an essential ingredient to most successful slasher films, an aspect Wes Craven deployed with acute skill in the original âScreamâ trilogy. Since then, the chase scenes in the subsequent sequels have been hit or miss.
