EP นี้หยิบเอามาตรฐาน ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) มาเล่าให้ฟังกันครับ มาตรฐานนี้ออกมาเมื่อปลายปี 2023 และเป็นมาตรฐานแรกที่สามารถ certify ด้านการบริหารจัดการความเสี่ยงของ AI system ได้ บริษัทไหนที่ใช้หรือสร้าง AI system อยู่ น่าจะลองศึกษาไว้ มีประโยชน์ในอนาคตแน่นอนครับ

EP นี้เอาผลการจัดอันดับ programming language ของ IEEE Spectrum มาแชร์ให้ฟังกันครับ อันดับ 1 ยังคงเหมือนเดิมคือ Python แต่ที่น่าสนใจคือ SQL เป็นภาษาที่ควรรู้ไม่ว่าจะเขียนภาษาอะไร และมีสองภาษาที่กำลังมาแรง ก็คือ Typescript กับ Rust

EP นี้ หยิบบทความจาก Stack Overflow blog ชื่อ “Developers with AI assistants need to follow the pair programming model” มาเล่าให้ฟังกันครับ ผู้เขียนเสนอว่าวิธีการใช้ AI coding assistant ในปัจจุบัน เช่น Copilot, ChatGPT ให้ดีที่สุด ก็คือการนำหลักการ pair programming มาใช้ โดยให้ AI เป็น coder และเราเป็น navigator ซึ่งจะทำให้ได้โค้ดที่มีคุณภาพและหลีกเลี่ยงปัญหาต่างๆ ที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นจากโค้ดที่สร้างขึ้นด้วย AI model เหล่านั้นได้ครับ

Ko จาก University of Washington เห็นว่า เราไม่ควรวัด developer productivity เลยครับ เนื่องจากจะมีข้อเสียมากกว่าข้อดี โดยเธอได้เสนอข้อเสียที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นทั้งหมด 3 ข้อ และวิธีการที่เหมาะสมกว่าในการปรับปรุง developer productivity

EP นี้อ่านส่วนที่ 3 และเป็นส่วนสุดท้ายในรายของ PMI ชื่อ Pulse of the Profession 2024 ครับ ผลการสำรวจแสดงให้เห็นว่ารูปแบบการทำงาน (agile, hybrid, waterfall) และสถานที่ทำงาน (WFA, hybrid, onsite) ไม่ได้มีความสำคัญต่อประสิทธิภาพการทำโปรเจคท์เท่ากับการเพิ่มสกิลของพนักงาน ใน EP นี้เราไปฟังกันว่าองค์กรจะช่วยซัพพอร์ตพนักงานในเรื่องนี้ได้อย่างไรครับ

EP นี้สรุปเนื้อหาส่วนที่สองจากรายงาน Pulse of the Profession 2024 โดย PMI ครับ ส่วนที่สองนี้จะเป็นเรื่องสถานที่การทำงาน ได้แก่ การทำงาน remote (work from anywhere) การทำงานแบบ on-site และการทำงานแบบผสมผสาน (hybrid) รายงานนี้เผยให้เห็นว่าการทำงานแบบ remote ก็ไม่ได้แย่ไปกว่า on-site หรือ hybrid แต่อย่างใด แม้ว่าผู้บริหารอาจจะรู้สึกไปเองว่าการบังคับให้พนักงานเข้ามาทำงาน on-site จะดีกว่าก็ตาม ไปลองฟังกันใน EP นี้ดูครับ

EP นี้อ่านบทที่สองของหนังสือ Rethinking Productivity in Software Engineering ครับ เรื่อง No Single Metric Captures Productivity ซึ่งเขียนโดยทีมจาก Google ผู้เขียนบอกว่าไม่มีตัววัด (metric) ใดเพียงตัวเดียวที่จะสามารถวัด productivity ของ developers ได้อย่างครอบคลุม และการพยายามจะวัดแบบนั้นจะมีแต่ข้อดีมากกว่าข้อเสีย และผู้เขียนได้เสนอวิธีการที่ดีกว่าที่ใช้อยู่ในปัจจุบันที่ Goole ครับ

EP นี้ เริ่มอ่านหนังสือเล่มใหม่ในลิสต์ของผมครับ ชื่อหนังสือ Rethinking Productivity in Software Engineering ซึ่งเป็นหนังสือที่มีนักวิจัยด้านวิศวกรรมซอฟต์แวร์หลายๆ ท่านมาร่วมกันเขียน โดยโฟกัสไปที่เรื่องผลิตภาพหรือ Productivity ในการพัฒนาซอฟต์แวร์ หนังสือมีเนื้อหาที่น่าสนใจหลายด้านและผมคิดว่าน่าจะมีประโยชน์กับคนที่เป็น team lead หรือ project manager ที่อยากทำให้ทีมของคุณมีผลิตภาพที่ดีขึ้นหรือดีที่สุดเท่าที่จะเป็นไปได้ครับ
ใน EP แรก เราเริ่มจากการมาดูกันว่า ความเชื่อที่ว่ามีโปรแกรมเมอร์ที่เก่งกว่ากันได้ถึง 10 เท่านั้น มีจริงหรือไม่ ไปฟังกันใน EP นี้ครับ

EP นี้ อ่าน Chapter สุดท้ายในหนังสือ A Philosophy of Software Design แล้วครับ บทที่ 21 เรื่อง Decide What Matters ซึ่งให้แนวคิดว่า เราควรหาจุดที่สำคัญในซอฟต์แวร์ของเราให้เจอ แล้วเน้นการออกแบบไปที่จุดนั้น เพื่อทำให้ซอฟต์แวร์เรามีความซับซ้อนน้อยลง เข้าใจง่ายขึ้น และดูแลรักษาง่ายขึ้น
