Today, I’m here with Dr. David Rabin, who is a psychiatrist and neuroscientist.
We discuss PTSD, psychedelics and their mechanisms, and the different drugs being used for microdosing. -
Today I'm here with Alex Tarnava, CEO of Drink HRW.
After a lifetime of being active, Alex found out that he'd developed osteoarthritis while still in his physical prime. Unwilling to give up his way of life, he dosed himself regularly with Naproxen to counter the pain and discomfort he lived with every day. Over time, the drug’s effects lessened while the gastro-intestinal side-effects increased.
Searching for alternatives, Alex scoured the internet medical sites looking for emerging treatments that would help, reading hundreds of published articles in the process. This was where he discovered the potential of molecular hydrogen.
Listen to find out the effects that Hydrogen Water had on his life. -

Today I am here with Mikhaila Peterson. She is the daughter of the renowned psychologist Jordan Peterson and some of you may know her from her blog “Don’t Eat That”. What got me interested in speaking with Mikhaila is that she suffered from a lot of the same food sensitivities that I and some readers of SelfHacked experience.
In this podcast, we will be learning about Mikhaila's long and complicated health journey, discussing the benefits of a carnivore diet and some potential nutrient deficiencies that may result from it, and seeing what her genetics have to say about her body using our health tool, SelfDecode. SelfDecode allows you to identify specific genes that impact your body the most and see what substances interact with these genes to potentially improve your health. -
Mental health disorders can follow you throughout your life if not treated properly. Monitoring and analyzing your blood biomarkers is essential for optimal health. Instead of waiting and adjusting your health after problematic symptoms have already arisen, it is better to get ahead of the problems by stopping them before they even start. In this discussion between Teemu Arina and I, we dive into Arina’s health history and discuss various ways to improve multiple biomarkers that may be putting your health at risk.

Brain Gauge is a new groundbreaking device that allows you to precisely measure brain function. It is so sensitive that it can detect subtle changes in brain function before you even feel it. It is exciting because we can use Brain Gauge to measure the effects of different foods or diets, supplements, and lifestyle changes on cognitive functions. In addition, it allows doctors to detect and track the progression of mild traumatic brain injuries that would be difficult and expensive to do with existing medical imaging technologies. It may even have an application as an objective way to measure pain.
In this episode, Joe Cohen discusses his Brain Gauge test results with Bob Dennis as well as the scientific principles that allow it to be such an amazing biohacking tool.

Get the Lectin Avoidance Diet cookbook: http://bit.ly/lectincookbook.
Dr. Gundry exposes the dangerous truth behind lectins and how they relate to autoimmune disease. Most importantly, he shares his vast experience and research on why lectins are so harmful to the body, and how to reverse the damages they cause.
Anyone who reads SelfHacked knows I am very ‘anti-lectin’ for people with autoimmune/inflammatory issues. Dr. Gundry, originally a very famous heart surgeon, discovered how dangerous lectins are and altered his career to help people reverse autoimmune disease through his matrix diet. He has completed the only human study related to lectins and is now the most knowledgeable on the subject. His second book "the Plant Paradox" is coming out on April 25th. -
Dr. Jarred Younger's goal is to end the chronic pain and fatigue caused by the inflammation in the brain.
He received his PhD in Experimental Psychophysiology at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at Arizona State University and the Stanford University of Medicine, before taking an assistant professor position at Stanford. In 2014, he joined the faculty at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He is currently funded by the NIH, the Department of Defense, and several nonprofit agencies to develop techniques for diagnosing and treating neuroinflammation, pain, and fatigue. -
I'm happy to be interviewing Dr. Shoemaker with guest host Dana Howell. Dana's introduced me to a lot of the CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) and mold research. I was really impressed with her story; now she has greatly healed herself from CIRS and helps others to recover.
Dr. Shoemaker is a pioneer in CIRS research, has written several books, and has successfully treated thousands of mold patients.
Dana: Thrilled to be bringing two people together that have been so instrumental in my healing of CIRS. After being exposed to a moldy building in Vietnam I experienced some really chronic and excruciating symptoms that truly baffled doctors and really caused me to dig into the depths of my heart and soul to overcome. It was Dr. Shoemaker’s knowledge of biotoxin pathways that really played a huge part in my recovery. He’s really changed my life. He’s written several books, including "Mold Warriors," and also "Surviving Mold," (Joe calls that one my bible).
Joe Cohen was a wonderful addition to Dr. Shoemaker’s work, and he’s integrated some other processes into the mix that have helped me to really get that much better.
In the interview we cover:
-Dr. Shoemaker's discovery of biotoxins (and where they come from: the biggest culprits being from mold and lyme disease)
-Diagnosing CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome)
-Genetics
-When CIRS is an underlying cause to other health issues
-The relationship between CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and CIRS
-Possible predisposing factors to CIRS, including lack of sunlight, priming infections and toxins, diet/lectin consumption, genetics, stress (sometimes), circadian rhythm disruption
-The roles of MSH and VIP in CIRS
-Brain changes measured by NeuroQuant in CIRS patients
-Recent MARCoNS research -
Alebard Lindsay aka Justin, is a friend of mine from LongeCity, a longevity forum.
Justin's background has been doing professional software development for 17 years and has been interested in nootropics and researching the brain for more than 10 years. He started out on LongeCity reading and discussing nootropics with people and getting deeper into the research, learning more about the subjects. His family has a history of neurodegenerative illness in their 70s so he was always concerned about protecting and optimizing the brain. He's followed this hobby with a passion. After doing a lot of research over the years he happened upon these studies concerning PDE4 inhibitors and their synergistic interaction with forskolin, and talking and sharing it with people on LongeCity. Many people had a strong positive reaction to the stack he built. He then released it and it grew into a phenomenon called Natural Stacks, which really took off and grew beyond his wildest dreams. He's been working with natural stacks on developing supplement stacks for cognitive enhancement ever since.
Justin can be found here: http://www.abelardresearch.com/

I'm bringing another scientist on board today, Dr. Diego Golombek. Dr. Golombek won the Ig Nobel Prize in 2007, a parody of the Nobel Prize honoring achievements that "make people laugh, and make people think," for discovering that viagra aids jet lag in hamsters. The research can be found in this study.
About Dr. Diego Golombek:
Dr. Diego Golombek is an argentine biologist, communicator, popularizer of science and an experienced researcher in chronobiology. He is currently a professor at the National University of Quilmes and researcher at CONICET, and is an author of several books about biology and related topics.
