  • Today, we’re going to talk about Alex’s IVF story.

After watching the new Netflix film JOY - Al was inspired to speak about her journey to having IVF, after having felt like it wasn’t something she was able to discuss online.

We go through the entire journey that has led to Tommy being with us here today - and we hope this conversation is helpful for anyone else who is experiencing something similar or who might not understand the complexity of IVF - and how amazing that it is that science enables us to do this.

Can you have a crush on a candle? Could you be in a long term relationship with Aladdin? Is the Beast as Beastly as he seems?

We also segue into hypothetical wishes, a hilarious childhood prank and Hugh Grant’s hatred of backpacks.

  • Faye Winter appeared on Love Island in 2021 and when she left the villa she was faced with a lot of noise and a lot of criticism. In this episode, Faye chats candidly about seeing herself in a different light, admitting she was wrong, and how she apologised and is working towards becoming a better person.

Faye tells us about her desire to live a normal life after appearing on the show - but how some people can perceive that as a failure, and how the choices that influencers make are dictated and driven by their audience engagement.

We also have a candid chat about Faye’s experience with filler - and how it is unregulated in the UK. Faye shares a horror story about botox and explains why she’s so vocal about the topic now.

Thanks so much to Hinge for sponsoring this episode. The dating app, which is designed to be deleted, inspires daters to take it slow this holiday season and reflect on the learnings from the past year. As we near the end of 2024, it’s the perfect time for a profile refresh demonstrating the person you’ve grown into this year and creating New Year’s intentions #HingePartner AD

  • Lucky you - it’s another episode featuring husky Alex!

It’s all been A LOT lately, so in this week's IIJM we lift the lid onto how much we’re literally hanging on by a thread.

We’ve been working hard getting our body image series ready for the new year - so today we have a chat about putting pressure on ourselves, our organisational styles and how we cope working so closely together. It turns into a bit of a therapy session...

We have an awkward all the way from Cape Town, a deep chat about animal hybrids and we ponder how far the human species would have got if it was made up of only Als and Ems (spoiler alert: probably not far)

Today, we discuss why people might fancy Shrek - and we're also going to break down some movie magic for you.

  • It’s time to get topical!

The highly anticipated Wicked film came out this week and guess what… we weren’t invited to the premiere (unlike the rest of Instagram!) We also get serious about the body shaming we’ve seen in the media around Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Why do people feel like it’s okay to talk about their bodies and why are we so reductive when it comes to women?

We also discuss camel anatomy, I’m A Celeb and the love of Em’s life… Hugh Jackman.

  • Have you ever heard a non-confrontational confrontation with a Just Stop Oil activist? Today we’re speaking to Gill Tavner. She’s a Just Stop Oil campaigner - but perhaps doesn’t fit the image that the media might paint you of one.

Gill was one of the warmest and most lovely people that we’ve spoken to on the podcast. She also has a criminal conviction - for walking in the road as part of a Just Stop Oil slow march.

She tells us how her activism was inspired by increasing desperation and anger about her daughters’ futures and she explains in simple, accessible and clear terms what Just Stop Oil is demanding - and it might not be as extreme as you think.

We know that climate anxiety is a real thing - and we know sometimes it can be easy to avoid difficult conversations about climate change. But Gill makes the conversation digestible and understandable - and she might just make you want to take action.

  • Even though we have babies - it turns out, we don’t know *that* much about giving birth. So, today on the podcast - we’re talking to Mamadinya… the internet’s favourite’s midwife.

Mamadinya came to the studio to answer everything you’ve always wanted to ask a midwife. What happens if you poo in a birthing pool? If you want to take your placenta home - do they give it to you in a bag? What happens during birth if you have hemorrhoids?

Whether you have kids, want kids, are unsure, or if you're certain they're not for you - Mamadinya throws open the door onto something that most of us probably should know more about. If you're curious about life - this episode is for you.

  • It’s one of those episodes where we dive into a TikTok curiosity hole - and we end up learning something quite profound on the way. It turns out cleaning is about a lot more than just mess...

Today, we’re speaking to Vicki - who is a biohazard cleaning specialist. You might know her from her TikTok videos - where she shows us what she does for a living - cleaning hoarder houses, crime scenes and anything which involves bodily fluids.

We explore the mental health reasons why someone might become a hoarder, how Vicki copes with the mental strain of her job - and why she choses to use her TikTok income to finance free cleans for those in need.

  • It's been a very big week on the internet - so we're bringing you a topical episode to reflect on three topics that have felt particularly important for us.

Firstly - take a look at the internet's reaction to the tragic news of Liam Payne's death. The noise on the internet around this topic has felt extraordinarily loud this week - so we discuss the cycle of trolling and tragedy that we have seen play out so many times and how we're feeling about it.

Then, it's time to go back in time because the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is back. Have we just taken a massive step back in terms of our collective relationship with body image, or is this a reinvention that was desperately needed?

And talking about society's obsession with thinness - we also chat about the government's conversation about Ozempic as a tool to get people back into the workforce.

In the new year, we will be releasing a series on the podcast dissecting our relationship with body image. If there's something you want us to cover or is if there something you want to tell us: you can email us on [email protected]

  • We have our first Dame on the podcast! The incredible Dame Kelly Holmes joins Em and Alex this week for a honest and vulnerable chat about mental health, motivation and ageing.

Dame Kelly tells us about how her incredible story started when a PE teacher told her she could be good at something - and then, how watching the Olympics inspired a twenty-year long dream of becoming Olympic Champion.

She tells us how she became a world class athlete whilst serving in the Army - and how she defied those who wrote her off because of her age to achieve her dreams, and then why she chose to speak out about the mental health struggles she dealt with during her career.

Where does she find her motivation? How do athletes deal with being put on a pedestal? And more importantly…. how do you ACTUALLY get into the Olympics?

Em tells us the story of a rental handbag that came with a little extra suprise… and we’re also asking why people at weddings won’t explain the economy to us - and why can't they just print more money?

  • Six years ago, Helen Addis (aka The Titty Gritty) found a lump. Despite having no history of cancer in her family - it was an aggressive form of breast cancer. A week after her diagnosis - she had a masectomy, followed by 18 months of active treatment.

Being well under the screening age, the only person who would have found Helen’s cancer - was Helen.

During her treatment, Helen asked her friends and family if they checked their boobs - and when most of them said no - she made it her mission to spread awareness about checking your breasts. So, she launched the Change+Check campaign - it is a simple sticker which goes on shop and gym changing room mirrors reminding people to check themselves for signs of breast cancer. She also almost got the queen with a pair of boobs on a Royal Mail stamp…

This Breast Cancer Awareness month - Helen is part of a campign to make a life-extending drug called ENHERTU available in England, Wales and Northen Ireland. Despite petitions, protests, campaigns and even government pressure the secondary breast cancer community is being met with constant rejection. They are now fundrasing to raise the legal fees to take legal proceedings to continue the fight for those who need this drug urgently and for the thousands upon thousands who will need it in months and years to come. You can read more about the campaign - and donate here
