This week we dive into the use of a specific tool designed to get ahead of the game; anticipate how your spouse might react; and wisely intervene. Wendy tells the story of her new pair of glasses. Although she chose not to use the tool, we analyze the story to discuss how to use it; the choice to use it or not; and living with the possible outcomes of either choice. We'll discuss being brief, monitoring tone, and limiting the number of emotions we bring into a situation.

Building on last week's episode, we discuss ways we can express needs to our spouse. Discussion around how needs can be met is helpful so both spouses are clear on what is meant. If discussion is not easy, it is still important to clearly state needs. If discussion is not possible, boundaries are needed. We talk about practical ways to communicate including writing a letter or text, taking a class or counseling.

Episode title and number: Grieving the Marriage You Thought You Would Have
In this episode, Terri and Wendy talk about grief. In disconnected relationships, there is often a heaviness that feels unbearable at times. Much of this can be tied to various feelings of loss:
1-The marriage you thought you would have,
2-The conversations you expected to have,
3-The partnership and peace you desired.
Often, we can feel like there was a bait and switch where he seemed like a knight in shining armor when dating, and then he abdicated from the marriage. Compassion and creative suggestions are offered to encourage a process of self care and grief.
Terri and Wendy will also open up the email and respond to the question of a listener.
