Episode 100!
For our landmark 100th episode, we have a couple of our favorite guests, Tara Giancaspro, and This is the Greatest Song I've Ever Heard in My Entire Life's Scott Interrante, returning to join Nicole and Ryan to soundtrack a movie that doesn't quite exist yet, the recently announced movie based on The Sims!
Our crew is tasked with coming up with a plot for the film and then a soundtrack full of needle drops. From the beginning of the film, to the end credits, our hosts and guests come up with songs for every big plot development in this fake film. It's a 1st for Soundtrack Your Life, and it won't be the last!

Jim from the Film Rage podcast returns to Soundtrack Your Life to talk to Nicole and Ryan about the soundtrack to the 2023 Emerald Fennell film, Saltburn. Jim was previously a guest for our episode on David Byrneâs True Stories.
The movie had a moment in 2023 with its infamous needle drop of Sophie Ellis-Bextorâs âMurder on the Dancefloorâ, which is used in one of the filmâs most famous scenes.
The soundtrack is full of songs from 2007 and older (the movie takes place in 2007), and there are indie and pop acts like Arcade Fire, MGMT, Bloc Party, Girls Aloud and Cold War Kids to remind you that youâre in 2007.

With season 3 due in June, we decided to take a look at the massive amount of needle drops from the 1st 2 seasons of this dense award winning dramedy.

Film Critic and writer, Lex Briscuso joins Nicole and Ryan to talk about the 2006 Sophia Coppola film, Marie Antoinette and it's iconic soundtrack. The soundtrack pulls from the 80s, 90s, and aughts with tracks from Gang of Four, Siouxie and the Banshees, The Strokes, Aphex Twin and more! Coppola put the soundtrack together with soundtrack supervisor, Brian Reitzell, who had worked with Coppola on her previous films, Lost in Translation and The Virgin Suicides. We previously talked about Reitzell in our Stranger than Fiction episode.
We talk about how important of a role the soundtrack plays in the film and we share some of our favorite needle drops. We also talk about how Aphex Twin's song, Avril 14th, found a weird 2nd life after appearing in the film.

Pop culture writer and songwriter, Tara Giancaspro, returns to the podcast to talk to Nicole and Ryan about Josh Schwartz's television series, The OC, which ran 4 seasons between 2003-2007 and launched the career of Schwartz (Chuck, Gossip Girl, Marvel's Runaways) and the many bands that were featured on the show. From Phantom Planet's iconic theme song, "California", to Seth Cohen's favorite band, Death Cab for Cutie, we try to cover as much of the music as possible, including the bands that played The Bait Shop.
Since The OC was so music heavy, we also discuss the show's soundtrack supervisor, Alexandra Patsavas, who it turns out, has been pretty busy the last 25 years or so. She's also responsible for the music in shows such as Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, Mad Men, and Riverdale while also supervising for the Twilight and Hunger Games franchises.
