In this episode Caleb talks with real estate investor and coach Mark Owens from Baltimore Maryland. Mark has built a very successful business which was born out of a past of drug addiction, multiple robberies, homelessness, and numerous prison sentences. Mark’s mindset in his teens and 20’s was that he would either overdose or get shot and die eventually. It wasn’t until Mark’s lawyer said something while he was in prison that woke him up. He said, “Mark, what’s wrong with you? Don’t you realize you are young enough to start a whole new life when you get out of here.” From that point on Mark began to change his thinking about himself, his circumstances and his future. Mark started a new life of educating himself and taking his negative thoughts captive. This new approach to life led him to his success today. Your story may not be like Mark’s but you will relate to his journey. We all face obstacles and have daily decisions that determines the course of our lives. We’re never too old to have a new life. Mark will inspire you to evaluate your thinking and he also gives some great practical advice if you want to get into the real estate game yourself!

In this episode Caleb has a fascinating conversation with John Lefebvre. John is a musician, composer, entrepreneur, retired lawyer, philanthropist, climate change activist, and author of the books, "All's Well: Where Thou Art Earth & Why" and "Good with Money: A Rich Guy's Guide to Gaining Everything by Losing it All". In 2007 he went to federal prison for charges of conspiracy to promote illegal internet gambling. That experience and his passion searching for greater meaning in life led him to philanthropy and activism to improve the lives of others. In this episode of the podcast Caleb sat down at the end of 2020 with his life-long friend Albus Brooks. In this far ranging conversation Albus takes us on the journey of his life and the 'thread of his life's calling' that has guided him forward. Albus was an all-star football player on a trajectory to the NFL when an injury ended that dream in college. After that setback Albus moved into one of the toughest neighborhood in Denver and invested in the lives of young African-American boys through the ministry of Young Life. After seven fruitful years this work propelled him into politics where he won a city council seat in the largest municipal election in history where he ran against 37 other candidates was the youngest African-American ever elected. He rose to become the President of Denver City Council for two terms. He also served as the Director of the Issachar Center for Urban Leadership and as the Outreach and Political Director for John Hickenlooper’s Colorado Governor’s campaign. After the disappointment of losing a bid for a third council term Albus became the VP of Strategy and Development for Milender White where he continues to follow the 'thread of his calling' -- servant leadership & community development. This conversation has so much insight & inspiration (and a few humorous stories of Albus and Caleb's friendship along the way)!
