  • The time has finally come for the Super Halo Bros. to grade the Angels' offseason moves, and there's a lot to cover! With the re-signing of Raisel Iglesias and the bullpen additions of Ryan Tepera, Aaron Loup, and Archie Bradley, the relief core looks very strong this season. We'll give our grades to those moves in addition to some under-the-radar infield moves that will surely bring success to the Halos, including Matt Duffy and Tyler Wade, plus, we have to discuss the extension of catcher Max Stassi! (4:37) Even with these great additions, FanGraphs has our Halos going 82-80 this season. What's up with that? Mike and Jon share their reasons why this is totally wrong! (42:44) With the season slowly approaching, we take a look at some Spring Training topics of discussion, including Noah Syndergaard's strong start, Taylor Ward in the outfield, Justin Upton at 1st base, and the progress we've seen from Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon, and of course, Shohei Ohtani! (46:36) Then, with the Nike City Connect Jerseys arriving for the Angels on June 11th, Mike and Jon speculate what they will look like and if the Halos need a uniform change. (54:23)

  • We're happy to welcome back our good friend and fellow Angel fan Andrew of @angels_topplays on Instagram and @PlaysAngels on Twitter! Andrew lends his insight and knowledge of our favorite team as we discuss the return of baseball and what's happened in Spring Training so far. Angels' GM Perry Minasian signed two of the top relievers in the game in Archie Bradley and Ryan Tepera, greatly improving the pen and making us confident to turn the ball over for the first time in years! The Bros. ask the question; should the Angels add more to the pitching staff? (3:38) Even though the Halos didn't sign top free-agent shortstops Carlos Correa or Trevor Story, Jon thinks that there is a shortstop silver lining, and the guys discuss the potential starter for Opening Day. (18:33) We had some breaking news on Tuesday, as the MLBPA and MLB agreed to a new set of rules, including the "Ohtani Rule," which will allow starting pitchers in the batting order to remain in the game at DH once their start comes to an end. It's good news for the Angels, and we take a look at how this will benefit the team this season. (32:26) Andrew and the Halo Bros. have a round of "What I Noticed..." and discuss what has stood out to them about the team so far this spring, including Reid Detmers' incredible start on Sunday, Jo Adell's improvements, and much more. (37:47) Joe Maddon has said he'd like to give a 1-2-3 of Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, and Anthony Rendon a try at the top of the order, and the guys discuss how they'd fill out the rest of the lineup, 4-9. (47:37) Finally, we discuss new Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki's love and admiration of Mike Trout and discuss what the GOAT needs to do this season to establish his legacy as the best in the game. (56:39)

  • The Lockout is over, and it's time to celebrate with some actual Los Angeles Angels news for the first time in months! All is right in the world of baseball, and with Spring Training beginning this week, Mike and Jon talk Mike Trout's position in the field. The plan is to keep him in Center Field, but would he benefit from a move to a corner outfield spot, and what would the rest of the outfield look like? (3:35) Speaking of the outfield, would signing Seiya Suzuki from Japan open the door for a trade involving Brandon Marsh or Jo Adell, and could that be the key to bringing Luis Castillo to Anaheim? Mike and Jon discuss who they would move if the Angels make this trade. (15:49) Mike DiGiovanna from the LA Times noted that free-agent starting pitcher Tyler Anderson is still available, and The Halo Bros. discuss if he would be a good fit for the rotation. (25:44) You can't talk Angels without discussing pitching, and Mike and Jon look at the return of Ty Buttrey and how he'll factor into the bullpen, and they talk Reid Detmers and if he'll start in the Majors or Minors this season. (34:34) Our worse fear has come true; Kurt Suzuki has returned to the Angels, but is this move as bad as it seems on the surface? The Bros. look at the stats and compare his starts against Max Stassi's and how that influenced the rotation in 2021. (42:32) Finally, Angels' 2nd baseman David Fletcher was SNUBBED! Why does the league hate our team so much? (50:11)

  • IT'S THE SEASON 2 PREMIERE OF SUPER HALO BROS.! We've got a new season, but we've yet to have a new baseball season on the books for 2022, and because of this, Mike and Jon discuss where we stand as of Tuesday night and play some "Imaginary Baseball!" (1:33) Last week, the topic of Shohei Ohtani's contract status was brought up in light of the canceled (and possibly uncanceled) regular-season games, and it's possible that the Los Angeles Angels may get him for another year before he hits free agency. Is Arte Moreno playing chess here? The Bros. share their thoughts on the matter and look at what kind of season Ohtani may have in 2022. (10:05) Speaking of Arte, fans have become quite frustrated over some of the measures he's taken lately, especially with the news that he was one of the four owners who were against raising the Luxury Tax. Is Arte being reasonable or ridiculous? Then, the Halo Bros discuss what new ownership might look like for the Angels. (24:43) Finally, with the news that Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is headed to the Denver Broncos, Mike and Jon speculate on what kind of return the Halos would get if they were to ever :gasp: trade Mike Trout. Would it even be worth it? (49:06)

  • Holy Clickbait!! We're diving back into an episode full of Los Angeles Angels talk, but first, Mike and Jon start things out with the latest regarding the MLB Lockout. (4:30) Then, it's time to dive into our predictions for what happens after the new CBA is reached, and we begin with a discussion about who's leading off for the Halos in 2022! (14:03) What do the Angels do about the shortstop position? Will we see Luis Rengifo, Tyler Wade, or perhaps an outside pickup in Andrelton Simmons, Carlos Correa, or Trevor Story? (19:16) The Bros. build the lineup they'd like to see the Angels implement this season and make a case for why their individual 1-9s might be the best option. (27:09) Plus, Mike Trout; 3-time MVP, the face of the Angels, an unmatched talent, and a certified future Hall of Famer is... BORING?!? What's the deal with that? Mike and Jon explain what they mean and how fans are letting his greatness pass them by. (33:40) Then, the brothers put together their six-man starting rotations, which include the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Noah Syndergaard, Patrick Sandoval, and more! (42:45). Finally, we take a look at the meme Jon made over the weekend that many took part in, and that's the "Build Your All-Time Angels Starting Rotation for $15!" With so many great starters in Angels' history to choose from like Nolan Ryan, Jered Weaver, Bartolo Colon, and many many more, we put together our picks and share some of your thoughts! (48:06)

  • The Super Halo Bros. are once again joined by Daniel Garcia, one of the minds behind @halo_haven, the voice of the All Angels Podcast, and soon-to-be new host of Locked On Angels! As the MLB Lockout keeps movement from happening in the majors, we do have newsworthy minor league talk, including Keith Law's Top 100 MLB prospects with appearances from Reid Detmers and Sam Bachman, ranking the Angels the 29th farm system out of 30 (yikes), and Keith's Top 20 Angels prospects. Daniel and the Bros. respond to these rankings and share their thoughts on what this means for our beloved team. (4:39) Then, Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that the MLB owners pitched the idea of eliminating minor league positions from 150 to 120. Mike thinks it makes sense, Jon thinks it's nonsense! (19:38) In more minor league news, Evan Drellich of The Athletic reported that MLB argued against paying players for their time in Spring Training, essentially arguing that players are paid "in experience," and Jon has a few thoughts about that. (26:09) Minor league players have been extra vocal about their seasonal wages and how the "Save America's Past Time" act passed by Congress cut them out of receiving federal minimum wage and the rules about overtime pay, and Daniel and the brothers discuss the perils of not making money for all the work the players put in. (36:25) The Eric Kay trial regarding the passing of Tyler Skaggs has brought some interesting facts to light, as it was revealed just how much the subject of addiction has permeated the game and the clubhouse culture, as Matt Harvey, Mike Morin, Cam Bedrosian, and CJ Cron testified to in the trial this week. **This segment contains discussions about addiction, and if this is a sensitive topic for you personally, please feel free to skip** (47:46) Finally, with Mr. National, Ryan Zimmerman, retiring after a 19-year career, the guys discuss who would be Mr. Angel, and what qualifications should there be for a "Mr. Team"? • It's been a long, dark, and quiet offseason, as the MLB Lockout has stalled any exciting news about our favorite game, but there is lots to cover regarding the Los Angeles Angels. It all starts with the recent Fangraphs ZiPs Projections as teams currently stand in the middle of the offseason, and Mike and Jon wonder how accurate their projection of a Halos 81-81 2022 season will be. (4:13) We're losing a good one, as José Mota announced his departure from the Angels' broadcasting team. After spending 20 years in red, he'll be going blue, as he's set to join the Dodgers in a broadcast capacity, and the Super Halo Bros. discuss what it means for the team. (16:25) Then, our wish came true; Shohei Ohtani is the cover athlete for MLB The Show 2022! We ran a little Twitter poll to find out what system you guys we'll be playing on, and Jon has very specific plans for this year's game. (22:30) The criminal trial of Eric Kay, former Angels Communications Director has begun in Texas, and witnesses include Matt Harvey, Andrew Heaney, Garrett Richards, and other former Halos who will testify. It's not an easy discussion, but the brothers ask the question; is this an Angels problem or a larger problem within MLB? (30:00) Among this news comes some information regarding the sale of Angels Stadium and the surrounding land, and Jon shares the holdup with the deal which involves the state of California. (43:14) In a bit of lighter news, Mike Trout proves he's still the greatest player in MLB with the recent story of @EvansvilleDevi1 unknowingly critiquing Trout's swing and Trouty sending him some gear! It leads to the question: has MLB forgotten Mike Trout and what he's capable of with his absence last season? (49:38) Finally, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred is calling a press conference on Thursday, and Mike and Jon speculate as to what it may be about. Puppies? Paternity tests? Who knows! (54:39)

  • As the MLB Lockout continues, some changes are set to take place in AAA with the implementation of robot umpires, and Mike and Jon discuss the pros and cons, what it means for pitchers moving between the major and the minors, and Jered Weaver's take on the idea. (6:01) Speaking of negotiations, there's been some interesting compromises brought to the bargaining table, and the Bros. share their unfiltered thoughts on what's at stake for the future of the game. (14:22) Then, sit down, because we need to talk about shortstop. The Halo Bros. look at the Angels' options for the middle infield, and Jon shares some thoughts from Rob of the 4 Train Savages podcast (@FourSavages), who provides his take on former Yankee Tyler Wade and how he might contribute this season. (27:59) We've all seen the tweet from legend Rod Carew regarding his allegiance to the Halos and the Minnesota Twins, but what do Mike and Jon make of his statement about the Angels not involving him with the team? What does this say about the past, present, and future of the Los Angeles Angels? (38:29) The team added a new member in the form of Trey Hillman, who will work in the organization's player development and seems to be a nice get! (48:44) Then, take us back to 2008 with a festival of our own; forget "When We Were Young," we're going to "When We Were Good!" (51:19) Finally, the brothers share their thoughts on David Ortiz's election to the Hall of Fame and the snub of Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. • While we're all waiting for some good news regarding the MLB CBA negotiations (hint: there isn't any), The Super Halo Bros. are here to keep you up to date with the latest topics from around the league and with the Los Angeles Angels! The latest news regarding the talks between MLB and the MLBPA note that one of the topics of contention is the Universal DH, and Mike and Jon share their thoughts on what it would mean for baseball to use it in both the National and American Leagues, and will it have an effect on the Halos' ability to keep and extend Shohei Ohtani? (3:46) Some Angels broadcast booth news sees pre and postgame show commentator Patrick O'Neal slotting in as the second play-by-play announcer behind Matt Vasgersian, and the brothers each give a "Patrick Plus" and a "Patrick Minus." (16:29) Then, the Angels had $5.1 million dollars to spend in International draft pool money, signing 16 players, 7 of which are pitchers, and the Bros. discuss some of the interesting picks made, and Jon shares some of the top International Prospects the Angels have signed in the past. (23:40) Will these draft picks be successful simply based on their names? (28:32) Last, we jump into the Super Halo Bros. Mailbag, with a game of "Start, Bench, Cut" among prime St. Louis Cardinal Albert Pujols, Mike Trout, and Washington Nationals Anthony Rendon, and we look at our expectations for David Fletcher in 2022. There's plenty of news to talk about, both around the league and with the Los Angeles Angels, and Mike and Jon begin with the news from Jeff Passan about the MLB and the MLBPA returning to negotiations on Thursday. What's in store for the next round of talks between the owners and the players? (6:55) Then, the Bros. discuss well-respected MLB journalist Ken Rosenthal and the decision by MLB higher-ups to not renew his contract on MLB Network. What does this mean for us as fans? (14:17) Jumping over to Angels news, Angels beat writer Sam Blum of The Athletic reported the hiring of a new coaching staff, including Phil Nevin, 2002 World Series Champion and former Halo Benji Gil, Bill Hasselman, and possibly Adam Eaton. How does this shape our Angels in 2022? (24:20) Plus, Jon Heyman reports that Angels front office executive Ray Montgomery is going to slot in as the Angels' bench coach this year, an interesting move that might indicate the future of the team. • In the FINAL Super Halo Bros. of 2021, Mike and Jon take a look at some potential new rules for the MLB CBA, including an intriguing suggestion from Jason Stark (3:46), and the Bros. share rules they'd like to see in the CBA such as a salary floor (10:51) and using WAR to determine player salaries (14:40). Speaking of the CBA, the Halo Bros. look at some of the best responses to Foolish Baseball's "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" tweet, "Things you can say about the MLB Lockout, but not your girlfriend." (22:55) Jon has had a good feeling about who the Angels have acquired so far in free agency and feels if the season started today that the 2022 team would be in a better position to win it all than the 2021 team. Do the numbers back it up? He dives into the WAR for the Opening Day roster for 2021 and the potential roster for 2022, and you may be surprised at the results! (25:45) Then, the Bros. celebrate the "12 Days of Christmas, Los Angeles Angels Edition," counting down what they'd like to receive from the Halos next season. The Super Halo Bros. discuss what this means for the team moving forward (5:03) and where he will land among the Halos all-time saves leaders. (9:14) When the news came out, Angels GM Perry Minasian mentioned how Joe Maddon, Mike Trout, and Michael Lorenzen were all involved in discussing the decision with Raisel, and the Bros. talk about who in the locker room might step up into a leadership role in 2022. We start with our opinions on the positives, including Shohei Ohtani winning MVP and every baseball award known to man, the signing of "Thor", Noah Syndergaard (8:11), star New York Mets reliever Aaron Loup (14:11), trading for former New York Yankees top-ten prospect Tyler Wade (16:21), and Cincinnati Reds pitcher Michael Lorenzen (20:35). Then, Mike and Jon discuss who we DIDN'T get in free agency, with the likes of starting pitchers Max Scherzer, Robbie Ray, John Gray, and Kevin Gausman. (24:10). With Angels General Manager Perry Minasian at the helm, he's taken a lot of heat from Halo fans, so Mike and Jon play a game of "Pissed Off Perry Versus Positive Perry!" (33:57). (6:49) Now that the playoffs are here and we've got nothing better to do, the Bros. make their picks for who will advance in the first round. (22:25) As Angel fans, we've witnessed an unbelievable season from Shohei, and Mike and Jon celebrate what he's accomplished as well as discuss whether we've just watched a normal Ohtani season or an anomaly. • For a team that's not going to be in the playoffs this season, the Los Angeles Angels are certainly making headlines! Jon and Mike discuss Joe Maddon's unfiltered comments about the state of the team and who these are pointed toward: owner Arte Moreno, GM Perry Minasian, the team, or the fans? (4:24) Perry did respond to these comments and hinted at what his plans may be as the Halos move into the off-season. (13:53) While Angels Play-By-Play announcer Matt Vasgersian jumped on Buster Olney's podcast, he mentioned Trout and other high-profile players lobbying for ownership to bring in big-time players like Max Scherzer. (22:32) This caused the Halo Bros. to ask the question; could Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani influence this team and use their drawing power to attract top talent to Anaheim? (25:06) Then, panic set in over the weekend during Shohei's postgame conference, where his ominous words lead us to ask, "Shohei Stay Or Shohei Go?" (33:27) Should Angels fans panic, and will this light a fire under ownership to make winning moves over the winter? (38:16) Jon asks non-Angel and Blue Jays fans to share their thoughts about the AL MVP race between Ohtani and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (46:15) Mike shares some interesting statistics about our beloved team, (49:48), and we take a look at the Play-By-Play Announcer Standings!
