Episode 12 Butterfly Macrocycle:
Microcycle 8 - Kicking
Peter and Michael explains non propulsive and propulsive kicking for butterfly demonstrated with SwimPro Video footage. Their goal is to keep kick small and fast, maintaining body streamline as much as possible within the stroke cycle, kicking splashless and rhythmical with no part of the kicking action breaking the water surface while also keeping the kick small and fast in the latter part of races. The kick effort should never exceed that which is needed to counter-balance the required arm-stroke elements.

Butterfly Macrocycle: Microcycle 7 - Recovery
In this Episode Peter and Michael switched things up a bit and ditched the TV. Michael demonstrates the recovery phase of the butterfly. If you have an opinion on that and prefer to see the underwater footage also despite poor quality, simply let us know in the comment section.

Episode 10 Butterfly Macrocycle: Microcycle 6 - End of Stroke Position.
Peter and Michael reviews the end of stroke position for the butterfly. How it should feel, elbow position, forearms and hand position and at what point elbows should be raised out of the water to initiate the arm's exit. Peter demonstrates movements with SwimPro underwater footage of Michael performing this microcycle.

Microcycle 5 - Power-Phase Movement
In this episode Peter and Michael reviews & demonstrates the head position during propulsive phase of butterfly strokes, discuss acceleration and adduction stage of the pull, orientation, role of the upper arms. Technique elements are demonstrated with SwimPro underwater camera footage of Michael.

Episode 8 Butterfly Macrocycle: Microcycle 4 - Initial Action
In this episode Peter mainly discusses the hand entry position for the butterfly (just wide of the shoulders) and briefly touches on the body position during this phase in order for Michael to set himself up best for the most powerful position of the butterfly (Microcycle 5 - Power-phase).
Technique is demonstrated by using underwater footage recorded with SwimPro cameras.

Episode 6 - Butterfly Macrocycle: Microcycle 1 - Streamline
In this video Peter explains what he is looking for in teaching Michael how to streamline demonstrated by underwater SwimPro footage. Peter discusses head, body, hips position, position of head when breathing, rocker-action as well as entry and exit of the arms.
Each stroke (macrocycle) is broken down in progressive, but building segments called microcycles. Butterfly has seven microcycles.
Microcycle 1 - Streamline
Microcycle 2 - Breathing
Microcycle 3 - Initial Action
Microcycle 4 - Power Phase
Microcycle 5 - End of Stroke
Microcycle 6 - Recovery
Microcycle 7 - Non Propulsive Kicking
In the following weeks we will go through each microcycle. If you wish to access all at once, we do have a brand new DVD called How We Do It available for online download or on DVD at www.usrpt.info (or you can just wait for weekly free Vodcast offerings).
We base our methodical stroke technique instruction on Dr. Rushall's work also available in eBook form called The Technique Macrocycle. We have not developed this methodology, we simply studied it, use it and are now sharing how we do it.
Stroke instruction during USRPT sets are vital and repeating 7 or 8 week micro-cycles per macro-cycle is the format we employ to continually as Michael grows, consistently and periodically review, change if needed progressive stroke components.

Answers to great questions asked after Episode 2 discussing talking to current coach about USRPT, questions on drills, toys, slowing pace if continually failing, amount of reps, no weight training/dryland in USRPT, percentage spent on race pace sets etc.
Answers to Episode 3's questions deals with toys (pull buoys, paddles, & fins), what to do when you can't do a single 25 at race pace, what is recommended during 15 minutes recovery time, adaptation back into a traditional program, warm ups and boredom with USRPT sets.
