I have had many students tell me “I learn best hands-on”. I agree with that 100%. In fact, it is possible to know all the right things to say about a subject but not really understand it. So here is a way to get deeper understanding. Kit building does not just teach you the specific circuit you make, it teaches you characteristics of components and how circuits are put together. Don’t wait until you think you know how everything works to start building. The kits I will feature are meant to help you as a beginner.

    Resources:

    - Snap Circuits by Elenco https://www.elenco.com/snap-circuits These kits are easy to work with, and best of all you can take them back apart and build something else. There are expansion parts available for those who wish to branch out.

    - SciToys is a world of learning physics and more with everyday items. https://www.scitoys.com

    - MicroKits two very fun musical electronic projects https://www.microkits.com

Great soldering lesson from iFixit here:

An excellent resource for tools and advice:
