    About the Host:

Nellie Harden is a wife of 20+ years, mom to 4 teen/tween daughters, dreamer, adventurer, servant, multipreneur, forever student, and a devoted teacher, but her career passion is her work as a Family Life & Leadership Coaching, especially for parents of young women ages 9-18yo.

Coming from a career background in marine mammal sciences, behavioral work, and a host of big life experiences, both great and some not-so-great, she decided that designing a life of purpose and freedom was how she and her husband, along with their 4 daughters, wanted to live.

She helps parents to stop wasting time and energy in power struggles so they can focus on building their daughterā€™s worth, esteem, and confidence as young women before they ever leave home.

With a lifelong passion and curiosity in thought, choice, behavior, and growth she has found incredible joy in helping families shift perspective, and find answers, and a path forward.

    About the Guest:

    https://www.instagram.com/robbinmcmanne_parentcoach/

My name is Robbin McManne and I, like so many, struggled for years because I wasnā€™t the parent I wanted to be. I struggled to find a connection with my two boys. I had so much love for them, but I found I was often overwhelmed with their needs and losing my temper on a regular basis (sometimes even more than them!). The more frustrated I got, the unhappier I felt. I knew what I was doing wasn't working and that there must be a better way.

Through searching for answers, found the Conscious Parenting community. I discovered how I could connect with my kids and through this connection, I found myself, I found joy, and I found my lifeā€™s work...but most importantly, I found a connection with the people I love the most on this earth, my two boys!

I am a certified Parenting Coach through the Jai Institute for Parenting. I have worked with a wide variety of parents from Canada, The United States, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.   I feel honored to have found this way of parenting and to be able to help families who are experiencing some of the same struggles I have faced. Because of this work, I am a more confident, happy, and connected parent.

ā€‹I live on the beautiful West Coast. Together with my husband Cory, we are raising two fun, energetic and athletic boys. When I'm not working, I enjoy being active, connecting with friends & family, and being a cheerleader on the sidelines of my boys' sports.

  • As a woman so many of us have gone into our careers and passions with 3 false ideas:

    1.    What leadership is

    2.    What success is

    3.    That there is a ā€œbalanceā€ between life and career that can be achieved and stabilized.

All 3 of these ideals can act as an inevitable emotional cliff that if we were to prepare sooner, we could have been better suited for. Find out in this conversation the tops 3 things you can do NOW to help your children prepare realistically and enthusiastically for their future!

    About the Guest:

My team and I help highly educated moms, who have careers in male-dominated, demanding, high-stress/high-burnout/high-attrition, or competitive fields:

redefine their career-minded mom identity design a strategic personal brand and back-to-work/career plan after kids

    * Create a work-life balance that doesnā€™t leave them constantly overwhelmed, feeling lonely, misunderstood, stressed, torn, and too tired for romance, and uplevel their working mom mindset so that they have more time for themselves, their kids, and partner intimacy ā€“ all while getting that next promotion or raise, feeling attractive for their partner (and self!), and feeling empowered to make financial choices that are aligned with their new values as a parent AND working woman.

We also create custom workshops that help corporations cut the costs of losing parent talent and enhance their retention practices by:

Ā· Making retention of parent talent an integrative part of their diversity and inclusion strategy, removing confusion, resentment, and inequity around parental leave transitions

Ā· Designing actionable, maternity and parental leave resources that reduce manager overwhelm and increase employee performance during those transitions

Ā· Designing tools and programs to help their parent employees return to work confident and ready for action after a parental leave

I love to network and provide immediate support to parents who need an action plan.

  • Parenting burnout is real. But how can we actually face that reality (instead of suffering silently with it), accept that reality (instead of stuffing it down or feeling guilt and shame about it), and do something productive out of it?

In this episode, we are going to get into these hard questions and discuss the work/life balance of parenthood. Is it a real thing and if so how do I find some?

  • Challenges in life are guaranteed!

In this childhood training ground for adulting (otherwise known as being a teenager), helping your child walk through challenges is one of the hardest experiences as a parent.

But, without that push out of the nest, they never learn to fly and become an advocate for themselves. This is a practice, not a one-and-done skill. WHY? Because we have to be advocates for ourselves (and one day our families, friends, and more) and the many ways that this is required of us are as diverse as the wildflowers.

So, the more practice the better, but there are 6 things that need to be taught and practiced when facing this self-leadership hurdle.

Check out Episode 62- The 6 Things You Have To Teach Her To Become a Self-Advocate!

  • In this episode, we are going to cover topics from the typical pediatrics exam to the places in pediatrics that are needing more attention (especially for teens and tweens) and how to transition our teens from the idea of the ā€œlittle kidā€ doctor to taking their health more seriously, and into their hands, as a teen. We want them to be advocates of their wellness and how can we help that become a reality along their journey?

    BIO:

Elham Raker is a board-certified pediatrician and parent coach. Over the span of her career, she has worked in many different clinical settings; such as inpatient hospital care, urgent care, private practice and even making house calls. What she realized during all these interactions is that she loved counseling and coaching parents the most. And this is how Ask Dr. Mom was born! A telemedicine and virtual coaching site to help parents with the overwhelm of parenting, from the comfort of their home by providing trusted information. (No more sketchy google searches!)

Outside of her work, she enjoys being a mom to her teen and preteen! Mostly as their chauffeur. She lives in Manhattan Beach, CA, and loves spending time in nature, walking, and running by the beach.

  • Why do young women huddle?

She used to be so confident and now she seems so insecure. Why is that?

What happens when they are left out of the group?

All of these questions and more are addressed in this episode all about the community behavior of young women and why they think the way they do and congregate in groups and leave some out.

    There is one key factor.

Listen in and find out what it is and how you can help your daughter grow through it instead of being chained to the stories of worth swimming in her head.

In 2019, after unexpectedly losing my husband 5 days after we returned from a whirlwind trip to France, I founded the Take the DAMN Trip movement. My DAMN framework has inspired hundreds to connect with the people that they love, do the ā€œcrazy thingā€ that makes all the difference, and, when given a choice, take the damn trip. My most recent ā€œTripā€ is that I recently gave birth to my 3rd IVF baby conceived with the embryos my late husband and I had frozen before his passing.

Additionally, Iā€™m a business strategist and coach who supports small businesses and entrepreneurs in developing and executing strategies to take their revenue to 6- and 7-figures.

  • Raising a child is big work and we all get a surprise in the middle of it all when it shifts from the needs of the first half to the different and more specific needs of the second half.

It is easy to get flustered, lost, and frustrated as a parent (and child) during these years, but there is a sequence of steps, a path, all uniquely walked by each parent, that takes you through their needs and builds what they need before they leave home.

In this episode, we walk through the first couple of steps of this more unknown (2nd half of childhood) path and what you can do to help your daughter become a person who knows their worth and values and appreciates themselves in this world.

Cindy, a graduate of Stanford University, is an expert in the college admission process: she got her start in admission offices before opening private study skills and college counseling business in Southern California, which she ran for over fifteen years. • Have you ever suffered from mom guilt?

If you are a mom I would say there is a 100% chance of yes!

In this honest and beautiful discussion with Skye Barbour, Nellie fleshes out the inescapable lure of guilt and the equally doable mindset of saying no to it no matter what you want to do with your life.

We are teaching our children how to live during these 6570 days after all and we want them to pursue their passions, so why would we? Their foundation will be the mirror of our actions and following your dreams just might be exactly what they needā€¦ even if they donā€™t come out and say it.

  • So much of our world actually exists between our ears and building the foundations of communication and connection with our kids to be able to share in that prime real estate is essential to being able to help them grow, lead them and give them space to fail, pivot and heal.

In this discussion with Teresa Janzen, I will take you through some ready-to-implement tools you can use right away with your pre-teen and teen children to make sure you are an active participant in their journey as they are being equipped for adulthood and what that looks like!

Raising kids to adulthood is not easy, but your role is imperative!

I have a blended family of 8 now-adult children. Weā€™ve had plenty of ups and downs and some pretty dramatic moments of crisis along the way. That is what compels me to talk about the adult child and parent relationship.
