For this episode of The All-Around Adventure Podcast, I'm joined by retired Air Force fighter pilot, Jason Cooper. Call sign, CAS.
CAS found a love for aviation at a young age and he earned his private pilots license at age 17. This passion led him to pursue a degree at the University of Washington so he could apply for a pilot slot with the Air Force. After a long and arduous selection and training process, CAS found himself in the cockpit of the F-16 Viper. Since then he's conducted over 2,000 hours of flying time in the F-16. He also served as an instructor for the Air Force's Weapons School, as well as a Commander of the 425th Fighter Squadron. Now CAS shares the lessons that he's learned with others on the Be 1 Change 1 Podcast, alongside co-host, fellow fighter pilot, and guest on The All-Around Adventure Podcast, Paul "Roscoe" White.
In this episode, CAS tells us about his early days as a pilot and what it's like to head skyward in a plane by yourself. He also talks about mindset and what was necessary in order to make it through the long training pipeline to become a fighter pilot. Furthermore, we have a great discussion on why striving for something and being told "no" is better than not trying at all and having to ask yourself "what if?".

It's now the month of Halloween! My favorite holiday! So for today's solocast, I wanted to share a story that happened while I was hiking across the entire state of Michigan. Something rather unusual happened one night while I was camping in Wexford County in the Manistee National Forest. And if you happen to be familiar with a certain cryptozoological creature that was first sighted in Wexford County in the late 19th century. Then you might know what my story will be about!
Host's note: Once I'd finished talking into the microphone for this episode. I realized that I only recorded audio, not video. Rookie mistake! So no video for this episode. However, with this being a ghost story, I think just having audio only might be more fitting so you can use your imagination!

You likely have heard this before... but we take so much for granted. Sometimes we don't even realize this until some of those things are removed from our lives.
