  • A New York judge has found the Trump Organization guilty of tax fraud. The judge ruled that the company repeatedly violated tax law, and ordered its New York business certificates canceled. This is a significant victory for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, which has been investigating the Trump Organization for years.
    The Republican-controlled House of Representatives has passed four spending bills that have no chance of passing the Democratic-controlled Senate. The move is seen as an attempt by Speaker Kevin McCarthy to appease conservatives in his party, who have been critical of his leadership. The bills are expected to be dead on arrival in the Senate.
    The Writers Guild of America has reached a tentative agreement with Hollywood studios, ending a nearly 150-day strike. The strike had brought the production of many films and television shows to a halt. The new agreement includes higher wages and improved working conditions for writers.
    Felix Herrera-Garcia, the husband of the owner of a Bronx day care center where a 1-year-old boy died of a fentanyl overdose, has been arrested in Mexico. Herrera-Garcia is facing charges of criminally negligent homicide and endangering the welfare of a child. He is expected to be extradited back to the United States to face trial.
    Police in Baltimore have issued an arrest warrant for the murder of 26-year-old tech CEO Pava LaPere. LaPere was shot and killed in her home last week. Police have not released any information about a possible suspect or motive.
