Join us as we return to our short story:
To translate writings, you need a key to the code—and if the last writer of Martian died forty thousand years before the first writer of Earth was born ... how could the Martian be translated...? An expedition from Earth to Mars discovers a deserted city, the remains of an advanced civilization that died out 50,000 years before. The human scientists recover books and documents left behind, and are puzzled by their contents. Will they be able to translate them . . . is it even possible?

Zakynthos, an Ionian gem nestled in the azure embrace of the Ionian Sea, whispers tales of a storied past. Legend has it that the island's name echoes the son of the Arcadian chief Dardanus, Zakynthos. It's a place where myth and history intertwine.

A Journey to the Centre of The Earth by Jules Verne. If you listened to our last episode, in which we started The Count of Monte Christo, you’ll know that I’m using this podcast, in part, to start my reading of classic titles. Those books that always come up on a ‘Books to read before you die’ kind of list. A little morbid but I get the premise.

Tonight we’re being treated to an excerpt of a favourite classic story; The Time Machine by HG Wells. Ah, the Time Traveller, The Eloi and all the tales that goes with it.
Over the course of a few episodes, my aim is to read the whole book. Partly as it was my bedtime reading for a while as a child and partly because I’d love to read it again and reading it for The Calm Café mean I can get away with it be for ‘research purposes’. Not that we should ever need an excuse to read. I find a book can transport me far away in a matter of moments. Which is lucky as we have 800,000 years to travel tonight.

Welcome to the first-ever episode of The Calm Café.
Here we focus on relaxation and sleep. Designed and delivered by Adam (a self-diagnosed insomniac with an almost uncontrollable mind), he knows what he's looking for from this type of podcast and hasn't managed to find one that suits him. So, although he can't drift off listening to himself, maybe you can.
