For this episode I had the pleasure of welcoming back H. L. Tinsley! Based in the UK, H. L. Tinsley is an author of Fantasy, Horror and Grimdark fiction and a regular contributor to gaming and pop culture websites and blogs. Her debut novel, We Men of Ash and Shadow, was a SPFBO7 finalist. The sequel, The Hand that Casts the Bone, was released in 2022. The third book in the series is in production. In 2023, she co-managed the successful Anatomy of Fear fantasy horror anthology Kickstarter project, which featured work by 12 indie authors. Her grim noir fantasy, The Hallows, will be published on March 22nd 2024. She is currently the resident DM for the Page Chewing forums and runs regular online D&D sessions for players of all abilities. For this episode of Season 3, I had the pleasure of interviewing Gregg Hale who is one of the co-creators of the world of Hada. Him and his team have taken a different approach to their campaign in getting their world out there including a four prong approach which includes the Black Velvet Fairies Podcast, their book Journey to Hada, a board game, and a really interesting NFT Activation campaign where participants can help with finalizing certain worldbuilding. For this episode of Season 3 I had the pleasure to interviewing three members of the amazing crew that have brought Ren: The Girl with the Mark back together again with their second season! I was first approached by Neil Oseman about interviewing them about their project and I have to say I am very glad I did! I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the series co-creators Christopher Dane and its lead actress for Season 2, Oriana Charles! This one was a ton of fun and we had some great laughs reflecting on their processes and their future goals for the series.
What is this online series about?
Ren: The Girl with the Mark is an award-winning fantasy-adventure web series created by Kate Madison and Christopher Dane. Ren (Oriana Charles) is a young woman whose life changes forever when she is Marked by an ancient spirit and becomes a feared Nu'Mahri. Season Two finds her on the run with Hunter (Alexander Hackett), a man she barely knows. The pair set out to find the Archivist, a mysterious Mahri expert who may hold the key to removing the spirit from Ren. But Commander Othon (Richard Zeman) and the Kah’Nath army are closing in, and both Ren and Hunter will have to make dangerous decisions on the way to their goal.
Ren: The Girl with the Mark is made by volunteers, funded by fans and released free on YouTube. Imagine you could go behind the scenes of your favourite Netflix or Disney+ show – being a fly on the wall, quizzing the cast, or even helping to make sets or costumes, joining the crew or appearing as an extra. With Ren you can do that.
