The kids are home for a long stretch of vacation & I find myself focusing most of my energy on them & just somehow making it through the day without my house looking like a war zone, while making sure they are fed & not killing each other...
Can you relate?

Kimberly Kubicke is our Ayurveda specialist on the show today, & I have to be honest- I took notes for this one.
We talked about digestion & why so many people are suffering from digestive issues today,
& then we moved into a super practical & comprehensive list of 9 small but powerful changes you could make for better or even dare I say heal your digestive tract.
After Kimberly went through those 9 points,
I kind of made her go through them with me again to dig into them a little more from my perspective & how I could really incorporate everything we were talking about,
so I hope my personal questions will be beneficial to you as well :)

One of the biggest mistakes I've seen when it comes to habit changing,
is the thought that we have to do everything perfectly- otherwise it's just not worth it,
or the constant feeling of fighting against ourselves to be able to achieve some success.
These both don't work.
Oh, believe me, I've tried!
I invited Havva Mahler to the podcast today to give us some super insightful tips for success when it comes to building healthy & sustainable habits.
Havva is a Chinese Medicine Practitioner who after 10 years' experience treating hundreds of patients in complementary medicine and learning what interventions really helped produce lasting improvement, now specializes in habit change and healthy lifestyle coaching.
So I am so very excited to invite you to listen in to some of these brilliant AHA moments all around habits.

Hormonal Imbalances can wreak havoc on our lives.
It seems like we're always looking for something that hopefully will work this time around in taking control of either Infertility, PCOS, Endometriosis, Perimenopause & more.
One of the things I have tried in the past is over the counter herbal remedies as well as treatment by a licensed herbalist.
So I invited our resident Expert Herbalist & my very dear Mother on to the show
to give us a rundown of herbal treatment for hormonal imbalances,
the different methods used,
the super important things you must know before taking any herbal remedies
& what is the base needed for herbal remedies to actually work & achieve hormonal balance.

"You are only as old as you feel you are!"
Those are the wise words my Savta shared with me a week ago leading up to my 40th birthday.
I found this piece of wisdom really profound as it could relate to both the way you feel physically or the way you feel emotionally.
And heck, most of the time it's a mix of the 2- they really do come as a packaged deal.
So on today's episode I will be sharing the physical hardships I have overcome, but the ones I am still left to deal with & what my plan is moving forward.
I will also share the emotional Mindset shift I made to start caring for myself after many years of neglect, & the recent trick I've added to my days to make them just really happy & wonderful. (Don't worry- it's not that hard)

Summer is my absolute favorite season- the sun, the long daytime hours, the fruit omg, & summer also happens to be when I celebrate my birthday.
And this year, in 2 weeks, in fact I am celebrating my 40th- crazy. I don’t even know what to make of that, honestly. But I try to think what my Baba used to say- that she never used to be embarrassed by her age because she earned every single year- so amen to that!
But in any event, I've been noticing some changes in my skin lately, like a little bit of wrinkles, some more freckles… Let's just say that I don't really look 21 anymore- surprise, surprise, & I realized I should probably start making sure I stick to my skin routine more often because I usually don’t really do anything on a daily basis, & more on a "hey look at that, I've got a few minutes of quiet when I just got out of the shower & no one's banging on the door because someone tried killing someone else, or as it was yesterday, someone tried flushing a toy down the toilet- ok, I have time to take care of my skin" lol!!
So I'd love to share with you today what I consciously do for my skin, especially in the hot summer months.

Ok, so I've got to be honest- I tried changing my nutrition for so many years and so many different ways!
When I was finally able to change, heal my PCOS & stick to it for years now, it was because I decided to be attuned to my body's cues.
I understood finally, the importance of having a relationship with my body- & a healthy relationship involves a lot of listening & learning, & even when mistakes are made- that doesn’t ruin a strong relationship- we just learn from our mistakes, move on & become even stronger, together.
So I realized I had to pay attention where I was having a hard time & figure out how to learn from that hardship & try something new to make it work.
So in today's episode, to wrap up this 3- part PCOS special series, I share with you where I was having most difficulties & my top tips & tricks for actually being able to make a sustainable nutrition change in order to heal PCOS.

"Miriam, I have to be honest, I was very motivated to get going, make a change & start healing- I really so want another baby. But I find myself so depressed & the complete opposite of motivated.
I mean, do I really need to give up all the foods I love? FOREVER? I love food. I'm a social person. I love going out, to friends, with friends, I don't want to be the social outcast or the problematic guest because I eat differently.
If you were to tell me I'd have to stop eating the things I loved for certain amount of time- that would be one thing, but to live like this forever? Maybe there's something else I can do?"
This is a phone call I got this week, from a dear lady suffering from PCOS,
so in today's episode- which is part 2 of a special 3-part series all about PCOS,
I will be sharing the 3 guidelines, that will answer these above questions and a few more to make sure you heal from PCOS naturally once & for all!

So this is a special episode as it will be opening a series of 3 episodes all dedicated to PCOS- or polycystic ovary syndrome.
If you are suffering from PCOS, you can be experiencing a number of different symptoms, the one that's common to all women suffering from this syndrome is irregular periods- this can be irregular in the time or amount of periods you get or don’t get, & it could be irregular when it comes to pain, or amount of bleeding.
There are other symptoms you may be suffering from like fertility issues, hirsutism (hair growing on your face or other body parts), abdominal fat that just can't seem to melt away no matter what you do & more.
This topic is my baby- I suffered from PCOS most of my adult life & was finally able to figure out how to heal naturally.
and today, to kick off this series we will be talking about 3 common mistakes I often see women with PCOS make & why it could ruin your chances to heal!

17 years ago, at the age of 21, I became a Mommy.
I didn’t realize what a crazy journey of love, heartache, hardship, discovery, happiness & adventure we were about to embark on.
I'm sure every single parent could relate to that!
And with this special milestone, I am ending a week long in the hospital with my 12 year old.
Needless to say, there's been a lot of contemplation time,
& I'm hoping to share my takeaway with you in today's episode.
Sending love!

Happy Israeli Independence day to you all.
We are also celebrating 50 episodes of The Healthy Jewish Mama Podcast & I am so excited that these two events come together so perfectly.
You know, when I was young, in the first years of my period- my relationship with my body made a turn for very bad.
I had PCOS & at the time had no idea that that's what I had, I had excruciatingly painful periods, Advil was my best friend but barely did the job, I started gaining weight & feeling very insecure with my body. Those were the 2 main issues that occupied my time, my thoughts, my relationship with my body…
I felt lost, out of control, really hating on my body & we had no idea what was happening.
This brought on some habits that made dealing with these hardships easier to bare, but not really helpful for the long run.
In this episode I am sharing what I did to regain Independence on my health & what the main key is for YOU to make this happen as well!

Spring is upon us my dear friends & with that comes seasonal allergies or Hay Fever as you may call it.
I used to suffer severely from seasonal allergies with post nasal drip & seasonal asthma.
I used to lock myself in the house & wait for summer when spring arrived, if I wasn't hospitalized that is with severe symptoms & shortness of breath.
Today, I am able to go hiking in nature with my family during spring. Yes, that's right!
So in today's episode I will be sharing:
* Foods to avoid that can worsen your seasonal allergy symptoms
* Foods you should be eating that help lower inflammation, boost your immune system & lower histamine
* As well as supplements that could help lower allergic responses in your body.
