Welcome to this special edition of the Results Business Podcast, in which Rodger Armstrong and The Athletic’s Matt Slater examine the news broken by Matt of material changes in MSP’s investment into Everton and the stadium development company.
We explore the new offer, why the offer of investment (for equity) was rejected by Everton’s principal lender was rejected - what that means for the football club and the stadium development.
We look at what needs to change at Everton, who needs to lead that change, and critically the relevance of the stadium development not only to the football club, but to the City of Liverpool and the economy of North West England. Our owners, our directors and management have huge responsibilities to fulfil, way beyond that of maintaining Premier League status and perhaps a trophy winning team in the future.
The immediate priority though is securing the club’s financial future and ensuring its ability to meet its future obligations to all stakeholders.
Thanks to Matt and Rodger and to you the listeners!

Welcome to Episode 3 of the Results Business Podcast with Rodger Armstrong and Paul, the esk.
It’s an hour in which we look at the forthcoming MSP investment - what will be their stake in the club, how will their investment be structured? We look at the interim board, why has it taken more than 11 days to appoint existing executives to the board? Why is Farhad Moshiri a board member?
We look at the incoming investors, what it means for future control of the club? What type of person should the new CEO be, what will be the priorities on his or her arrival?
Critically we look at the needs of the football club and the recognition that whilst all this news is swirling around us, we have a football club in dire need of care and attention by competent individuals. Individuals who will support Sean Dyche & Kevin Thelwell. Individuals who will give the supporters the confidence that we can turn this club around, and reward the magnificent support with an improving and ultimately competitive club in the future

In today’s episode we explore the ongoing saga of the financing of Everton’s stadium, Moshiri’s position and future, plus the prospects for change at board level.
Matt’s recent conversations with sources close to the current deal led to this piece (£), published today 5th June. We look in detail at what that means to the club and Paul challenges many of the positions put forward by Moshiri’s people.
Change is happening, it has to as we know only too well. Whether it is Moshiri’s version of change or more significant, we will see.
