Buy broken stocks, not broken companies. This is one of many quotes that Buffett has put into the world over his 90 year life.
And this applies now more than ever! Why? Because in the short term, the stock market is a popularity contest. At the moment, everyone is hyped about Apple, Tesla and in Australia itâs all about the Buy Now Pay Later Stocks
People are opting for the less sexy stocks and going after the shiny âhot stocks.â But itâs these less sexy stocks, that the professional investors love.
Case in point is Starbucks. In 1999, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of Starbucks shares, theyâd be valued at $29,396 in 2019. Averaging an enormous marketing beating 17.47% return each year.
Ignoring tech stocks for the 20 years and investing in a coffee company doesnât sound sexy, until you see the returns on offer.
In this episode, we talk through the parameters for finding bargain stocks as well as talking through a few companies we think will fit this criteriaâŠ..

Cash is king! When we look at what a company gives its shareholders as a return, itâs really only dividends. Buying low and selling high is great, but thatâs assuming that you can sell it higher to another investor later on.
But dividends, they are paid annually and once banked, they can't be taken back. There is a growing movement of dividend investors in the world who are aiming to build a 6 figure income from dividend paying companies. And itâs entirely possible.
This episode we cover the basics of dividends as well as what to look for in the best companies so you know they will be paying you an income well into the future. We also cover off the dreaded dividend trap that so many new investors get caught in and how to avoid it!

Hedge fund manager, Ray Dalio, first introduced his All Weather Portfolio in Tony Robbinsâs book Money, Master The Game: 7 Simple Steps To Financial Freedom
His portfolio has been backtested and shows that it makes on average 10% per year, regardless of what the economy is doing.
Looking inside the portfolio reveals a key to this success, 15% of his portfolio is invested in commodities.
Thereâs an unwritten rule in the investing world and thatâs when things go bad, invest in gold. Since March, Gold has soared 25% in value and recorded record highs. Commodities are a defensive play to protect a portfolio and even make returns in a volatile market.
In this podcast, we talk about the surge of gold over recent years, as well as other commodities that you may want to add to your portfolio.

"Follow the big money" is a saying in the investing world. Big funds don’t make decisions lightly and they have extensive research teams to help them make big decisions.
In April this year, the public investment fund of Saudi Arabia aka the Government purchased 43.5 million shares in Carnival Cruise. This gave them an 8.2% ownership of the company.
In just 4 months, the investment has gone up 100% effectively doubling their money. Anyone who followed the big money at the time, also would have had the same returns.
With so much uncertainty in the world, travel stocks are still cheap and largely ignored by everyday investors. But what we do know is that travel will be a thing in the future, and for the patient investor, this may mean significant investment returns.
In this episode, we discuss why you can’t afford to ignore travel stocks and how to pick the stocks with the best upside potential.

Whether you like it or not, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now a deeply embedded part of our everyday lives. Whether it's in the recommendations you get on Amazon or Netflix or the youtube picks you receive or in a range of other aspects of your life, AI is here to stay and is growing every year.

Looking at companies heavily invested in AI stocks, we consider if now is the time to be putting your money into AI-related stocks or if it's best to hold off your investing. As always, we dissect some potentially winning AI stocks as well as talking through the pitfalls you should avoid when it comes to AI investing.

FOMO is something that gets to even the most experienced investors. And itâs easy to see why when we read about the returns from investing in IPOs from companies like Apple.
If you purchased $1,000 worth of Apple stock at IPO in 1980, today it would be worth $1,278.000 taking into account stock splits. Everyone can agree thatâs a solid return over 40 years with no other input apart from buying the initial stock. And having nerves of steel to hold when Jobs first left the company.
There are plenty of modern day IPO success stories as well. Did you know that Tesla listed on the stock market in 2010 at $17 a share? Investing $1,000 in the company in 2010 would today be worth $92,400. Thatâs a powerhouse return.
With some pretty big companies gearing up to list on the stock market, we thought it would be timely to do a podcast that gives a step by step walkthrough on investing in IPOâs. Most people in the finance world simply pass this type of investing off as too risky and something that should be ignored by amateurs. We on the other hand feel that we have a good criteria to help you sought the winners from the losers.

Call it what you will. The dot-com bubble, the tech bubble or the internet bubble. Either way, these words bring a lot of hurt to a lot of investors.
In March 2002, the NASDAQ was down 78% from its all-time high in March 2000. From the year 1995 to 2000 the NASDAQ itself sent Wall St into a buying frenzy as the index rose 400%.
Everyone wanted a piece of the hottest tech start-up, hoping to pick up a 10x investment and bragging rights for years to come.
But what happened next left the egos of many crushed to never return. Companies like pet.com and webvan disappeared off the face of the earth. Never to be seen again. Established companies like Cisco copped an 86% loss on its share price whilst the likes of eBay and Amazon also took a battering, but managed a quick recovery.
In a game where history tends to repeat itself, it may come as a surprise that we are making the bold claim that the tech bubble will never happen again.
In this podcast, we talk about how companies and investors are a lot smarter due to the growth in startup investing. We also talk about the change in consumer behaviour where in 2002, the internet was still new to many homes but now we carry it around with us in our hands or on our wrist, at all timesâŠâŠ.

After last week's F.I.R.E podcast, we got a lot of flak and comments from listeners generally giving out at how we didn't do the F.I.R.E. movement justice. Luckily, one of those messages came from this week's guest; Leigh, who set up and runs a youtube channel dedicated to helping families become financially independent. Her youtube channel is called Family Finance: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB4hmXg3k8-KN9w8GCGX2ZA
Leigh is dedicated to the F.I.R.E movement so suggested she come on board and explain to us how she is working to become financially independent even with the expenses associated with having a family. Through excellent advice and an openness to discuss her finances, Leigh was able to open our eyes to how the F.I.R.E movement really works and how you can start building towards financial independence.
If you are looking for inspiration and tips on how to build your finances, we highly recommend you check out her YT channel!
