Even in sobriety, we might settle into a life that we don't really want and aren't excited about and think that it's normal. But I believe that you are always one idea away from having a completely different life. You are one idea away from greatness, even in the darkest of times.

One of the most important things in sobriety is making sure you're spending your time with healthy people. In early recovery, a lot of people try to hold onto old friendships/ relationships that are clearly toxic, and it only ends in a few ways (none of them are good). If we want a new life, we have to be willing to shed our old one. The people who refuse to accept this tend to get burned over and over until a change is made. If you struggle with keeping healthy relationships, this episode is for you.

Even though this can be painful, it is a necessary and important piece to getting on the path to recovery. If you feel like you're overwhelmed with guilt and shame, this episode is for you.

There is no such thing as being too dumb to get sober, but there is such a thing as being "too smart". People tend to stay sober after some form of guidance and mentorship whether that be rehab, 12 step meetings, coaching or other support groups. In most cases it takes humility and acceptance to get sober because this is when we are the most willing to take direction. When we are "too smart" for our own good and still driven by ego, we tend to make the same mistakes that could be easily avoided by listening to those who have been where we currently are.
