This effort is actually quite impressive when taken in as a whole. In this episode, we will summarize and discuss many of these efforts, then analyze why the vaquita population has continued its rapid decline despite these many programs designed to save the species.

When we first launched our vaquita documentary project in the spring of 2015 we reached out to one of our Wild Lens contributors who has a truly unique talent. Ben Mirin makes music from the sounds of wildlife by blending his own beatboxing with audio samples from the natural world. We were hoping that he could make us a song using the high frequency sonar clicks of the vaquita - a serious challenge.
