  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… We are all familiar with the feeling of being watched. Most of us recognise that niggling suspicion as nothing more than an irrational thought. But for others, their worst fears are sometimes confirmed. For one young woman in New Hampshire, a nightmare becomes a reality when she realizes she’s not only being watched, but she’s being watched from inside her own home…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… It is often said that money is the root of all evil. Whether in the relentless pursuit of wealth or driven by desperation to maintain it, individuals can find themselves committing unimaginable acts. The Roseboro family seemed to possess everything one could desire: a blissful marriage, a nice home, and a thriving business worth millions. During weekends, Michael and Jan Roseboro frequently spent quality time in their backyard with their children, engaging in activities such as swimming or simply enjoying each other's company. Nevertheless, appearances can be deceiving. Some who live a life of luxury are never content, and they are willing to do anything to get what they want…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… The shocking murder of two doctors goes unsolved for years. The story of what happened only comes to light when a member of a confidential group goes against the grain and tells the police what they know. But even with evidence supporting a confession made to many, privilege can trump the truth….

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… After deciding to be closer to their family, a retired couple vanishes into thin air. Investigators immediately suspect that the person who purchased their yacht, a former child actor and marine, knew more than they were willing to share. But, the buyer had the documentation to back up their story, and the detectives had a hard time proving that there was any foul play…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… Ethylene glycol is a colorless and odorless compound with a sweet taste commonly found in antifreeze. Ingesting a sufficient quantity of it can lead to fluid accumulation in the lungs, organ damage, seizures, and, ultimately, death. The effects of this poison typically manifest within one to twelve hours after ingestion, initially impacting the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. Within twelve to 24 hours, ethylene glycol starts affecting the heart and lungs, while toxic calcium oxalate crystals begin to form. After 24 hours or more, the metabolized poison takes its toll on the kidneys, and death becomes possible at any stage. This type of poisoning results in a slow and agonizing demise, yet it often remains imperceptible. One particularly troubling aspect is that antifreeze poisoning does not readily show up on standard toxicology tests. Consequently, if a death doesn't appear suspicious, the presence of antifreeze poisoning may go undetected…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… It's often said that the bond between a mother and her child is incomparable, even transcending the boundaries of life and death. A mother forges a connection with her child that defies any worldly explanation. Such is the power of a mother's intuition. In 2004, this truth manifested in a remarkable way when a mother encountered a girl who bore an uncanny resemblance to someone she knew all too well. Having tragically lost her own daughter following a fire in 1997, she was struck by an overwhelming sense of familiarity upon seeing this girl…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… When people with children embark on new relationships, the children involved often require an adjustment period. This may involve adapting to new routines, becoming part of a blended family, and getting used to an entirely new dynamic. Additionally, the new adult in their lives might bring unresolved issues from their own past. At about 3 PM on July 8th, 2009, Spartanburg Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a scene following reports of a domestic incident. When first responders arrived, they were shocked to find a young child had been caught up in a situation that had nothing to do with her. The case sent shockwaves throughout the community, shedding light on the unfortunate reality that far too often, innocent children can become collateral damage in adult affairs…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… Every individual possesses unique fingerprints, making them invaluable in resolving homicide investigations. The year 1911 marked a significant milestone as U.S. courts officially recognized fingerprints as a dependable method of identification. Advancements continued into the 1970s when forensic professionals pioneered a novel technique—fingerprinting the deceased. This innovative approach incorporated chemical powders and photosensitive paper to capture prints. A pivotal moment occurred in 1978, as forensic experts in Miami, Florida, adopted this revolutionary method while probing a triple murder case in a local spa. At first, the crime appeared to be a robbery gone wrong. However, the examination by the forensic experts revealed that they were looking for somebody much closer to home…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… On the evening of July 24th, 2000, Sarasota police officers were dispatched to a house on Grand Cayman Street following a 911 call from a local resident who said a young man had told him he believed his aunt had been killed. After forcing their way into the property, they found a woman lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen, beaten to death. It didn’t take long for the victim to be identified, and it took even less time for the media to pick up the story. 52-year-old Nancy Campbell-Panitz had appeared on national television just hours before she was found dead. Her ex-husband and his new wife had confronted her on an episode of The Jerry Springer Show, and it seemed as though their troubles had followed them back home…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… Nestled in the heart of Somers, New York, The Turner House stands as a remarkable testament to the grandeur of the 19th century. This pristine white-framed home was crafted by a wealthy Gentry farmer, and its presence exudes a sense of affluence and historical significance. Spanning an impressive 4,731 square feet, The Turner House rests on a sprawling 2.05-acre estate. The front of the home is framed by majestic and age-old trees, providing shade and ensuring an air of privacy. However, The Turner House is not without a dark past. In 1980, this once tranquil abode became the haunting scene of a gruesome murder, a murder that sent shockwaves throughout the peaceful bedroom community…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… The rural roadside was illuminated by the flames consuming the trailer, and the blue and red flashing lights of the emergency vehicles. It was a chaotic scene as people desperately tried to rescue the teenage girls believed to be trapped inside. As firefighters dashed towards the blaze, someone on the road noticed a girl lying face down in the mud. When paramedics noticed a gaping 6-inch wound in her abdomen, they believed she had been injured in the fire somehow, but when a surgeon found a shotgun wad inside her body at the hospital, it was clear that the fire had been set intentionally to cover a horrific crime…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… It was the mid-afternoon of Wednesday, June 6th, 1962, in the Jamaica Estates North area of Queens. The street was cordoned off outside of one of the large ranch-style houses on Union Turnpike. The road had been torn up by heavy machinery, and construction workers were standing idly by. It would have been reasonable to assume that there were maintenance works underway if not for the heavy police presence. Crime scene investigators were reaching down into the sewer line that was flowing from the house and pulling out pieces of human flesh. The homeowner was nowhere to be found, but the police suspected that the victim was a teenage girl who had been brought to the residence for an illegal abortion…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… Teachers hold a significant role in the lives of young children, second only to parents in terms of influence. Within the school environment, they are entrusted with the care and education of children, nurturing their growth and safeguarding their well-being. Consequently, parents place a considerable amount of trust in their children's teachers, relying on them to act in the best interests of their students. However, in 1998, a shocking violation of that trust unfolded in a school in Seattle, sending shockwaves worldwide. The case served as a stark reminder of the double standards that exist within society when it comes to female sexual predators…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… Many factors can be listed as motives in murder cases, such as greed, love, or revenge. But, when it comes to family annihilators, there is no way to make a jury understand why someone would commit such a horrendous act. When the person accused of wiping out generations of the same family happens to be a pillar of the community, a person in a position of trust and power, any sense of security is lost - but faith is not…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… In the quiet middle-class neighbourhood of Queens Village, New York City, Harriet Mulhauser was just getting ready for the day ahead. It was March 20th, 1927, and Harriet’s morning was disturbed by a sharp knock on her front door. Opening it, she was greeted by a distressing sight – a look of terror etched across the face of her nine-year-old neighbour, Lorraine Snyder. Lorraine told Harriet that something had happened to her mother, and she needed immediate assistance…

  • On this episode of They Walk Among America… After all of the evidence in Gannon Stauch’s disappearance pointed towards the person entrusted to look after him, the endangered child case quickly became a homicide investigation. Letecia Stauch was arrested in March 2020, and just over two weeks later, Gannon’s remains were found in a suitcase beneath a bridge in Florida, over 1,300 miles from his home in Colorado Springs. It was evident that 11-year-old Gannon had suffered horrific violence before his death, but his stepmother continued to try and avoid responsibility throughout the investigation and even after her arrest. After waiting three long years for justice, Gannon’s family were forced to sit through 20 days of grueling testimony and blatant lies about his final moments… (Part 2 of 2)
