  • On the surface, the case seems so simple: a young man shot his father in the mist of an argument. He called 911 and without any emotion said the chilling words, "I just killed my dad."

It wasn't simple at all. Natalia tells us the story this week of Anthony Templet from the Netflix documentary 'I Just Killed my Dad' and how he ended up an example of how justice should look carefully at all the circumstances before judging someone guilty of a crime. This story has so many unexpected twists that will change everything you think you know about the boy holding the gun, and it isn't just abuse.

Stephanie and Natalia also discuss clothing tags, ski daddies, and the real life Duttons!

Trigger warnings for the usual, plus: filthy language, gun violence, youth perpetrated violence, child abuse, and child abduction

  • If Mark Lundy was charged for this crime in the courts of popularity he'd be guilty and locked away ten times over. He's not the kind of guy who wins over anyone's heart. But does that mean there's sufficient evidence to prove he committed this terrible double homicide? Follow us to New Zealand in 2000, and we'll try to figure this one out together.

  • Hey PodFam! This week Stephanie was roadtripping and stopped in Chicago. Before stopping she asked her brother, Sam, if he wanted to record an episode. Jumping at the opportunity Stephanie met with her brother and only asked him one question before recording. Do you want a story that is light hearted or gory? Sam chose GORY and Stephanie delivered. Sam asked and Stephanie did NOT disappoint. This is a relatively unknown case from the UK in the mid 1990's. Despite its horrific details the event did not get much press because of the timing - the same weeks and months Kelly Anne Bates's story came to light the late Princess Diana of Wales was tragically killed, taking the world's attention. Not saying any life is more important than the latter, this is just the history of 1997. Sam is the lead singer and guitarist in the band XYZXYZ. Their music can be found where ever you download your music (Napster and Limewire). They are on Facebook, Instagram, and have shows playing throughout the Chicago areas. Check them out and love them, or else. Instagram: @xyzxyz.band--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/millennialmurders/support

  • Great minds think alike! I did NOT share what my episode was on yet somehow, Natalia got a book on forensic sciences the SAME time I tell everyone about the Grandmother who started it all!

The short version: A grandmother with a taste for the macabre loves doing crafts.

Long version: A woman fought her whole life to accomplish standardized methods of practice from the ground up. Even though women were not allowed at Harvard, she paved her OWN way to the top of the medical departments. She was smart, passionate and worked to make sure police had the tools they needed on an investigation. Then, we discuss her dollhouse dioramas that depict actual scenes of death. They we created in the early 1900's but they are so detailed, so GOOD they are still on display and used in her seminars almost 100 years later.
