Can you tell it is deadline season? We can! Took me about 90% of my power not to write therefore in this little description box.

Anyhoooo, we dive into the characters, the setting, its inspiration and the rest of Donna Tart's wonderful brain. Enjoy!

  • Eeerhmm has anyone seen Mr Frog? we sure haven't! But then again has anyone seen Mr. Toad? First of all, so sorry if you have. But also, could you perhaps tell us what size he is? or is he a shape shifter? We do not know.

What we do know is that we are back this month to discuss the ever confusing and controversial The Wind in the Willows!! (yeah we were surprised by it controversy too...) This month we are joined once more by Jenny who lets out her anger towards Toad while Laura and Amelia try to figure out how exactly their society works... Did we reach a conclusion? I am not sure but there's only one way to find out... Give it a listen!

We'll see you again next month when we're reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt for a completely different episode probably? But then again, all of them have some chaos and laughter so who knows!!

In the mean time we will try and be a bit more active over on our Instagram now that we are on our Easter break (please excuse us we are in the last two months of our uni degree during covid, the chaos and stress levels are high.

  • We are joined by our first guest of the year and our wonderful friend Freya to discuss Brooklyn our book from the 00's but also simultaneously the 50's! why do we always do this!!! Anyway we discuss our love and hate for both men and italians while Amelia is convinced Eilis is a lesbian. I'd say it is very much a classic etc episode! chaos and fun and a small segment about a completely irrelevant but fascinating topic such as where the titanic left and who invented the jet engine? learn something new everyday!!

Next month we will be discussing the wind in the willows with our lovely friend and returning guest jenny! See you then!

In the meantime you can find us on any large podcasting streaming service as well as @timeturnercollective on instagram!

  • Happy New Year!!!! or well? happy??? We have believe that this year is going to bring us goooood, however, this months book is arguably less optimistic. Just a TW here, this episode contains mentions of suicide and mental illness. BuT also way more optimistic sections discussing poetic writing, The Triangle of Literature, and new years resolutions!! Fun times all around!

We thought I'd be very relevant to the situation we are in right now. While the world looks bleak, there is little positive notes all around us! We are going through this together and can! And, you know what, if you need some more distraction; we are reading a fun and dramatic novel next month which is very touching. It's Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín, adapted to that film with Saoirse Ronan!!

Anywhoooo see you next month. Orrr in the meantime follow us on instagram @timeturnercollective. See you in the past!

However, most excitingly!! this month we are joined by our friend Jenny!! It's been a looooong time coming this one. Listen to us enjoy some wine (and green tea) and make some POINTS (it's rare we know).

This is basically us gushing over space things and the book and film and sebastian stan? (That's mostly Amelia ngl) We are joined by our lovely friend Katy who has been supporting our podcast for month now and we are so excited to finally have her on an episode!

This episode is also brought to you by Laura's dad and his space facts.

We also discuss the important issue of naming children after space missions. Would you name your child Sojourner?

  • Bonsoir!! We are back with a nice back to school episode (kinda?). This year in uni me (Laura) and Amelia both take a children's literature module. A nice chill and short read right before the big work load hits us! We are joined by our housemate Chloe, whom you all might know from our Guernsey episode. We talk a bunch about context and culture changes and specifically growing up in general. What did Peter Pan mean to us as children? How did we perceive the problematic parts of the book. (and the film for that matter) Oh and did anyone else notice the fairy orgy? please let us know. 1910 was an interesting time i guess.

Next month we will be back to discuss The Martian our most recent of all the books. The smallest jump back to the 2010's!! We will be joined by Katy, a fellow student and our pal who also likes to blog about and discuss all the literature! See u then :)

  • GILBERT BLYTHE. that's it, that's the episode.

No, okay. We discuss the rest of Anne of Green Gables and Anne with an E, including ofc the context and farm life style. We are joined by the wonderful Emma!! Our housemate but not quite housemate yet as we are not together :(

Anyway, the episode is filled with finding morals, evolution of children's literature and yes, gilbert.

This month is our very first decade! and next month we only move up a couple of years to discuss Peter Pan.

Just basking in the bliss of our childhoods for a while I guess.

  • Welcome to the 1940's where we attempt to discuss Animal Farm, but mostly discuss communism and anything else that is on our mind. We consume some alcohol, say things, and don't analyse a lot. But deffo a fun one, we go a bit off the rails, in the best way possible tbh. Yes it is a bit chaotic but did you know there are animals in this?? ANIMALS?? no one told us!!! (lack of actual farms though, sure there is one but god we wanted ~cottage core~. A slightly unprepared episode as our guest was not able to join us this month, but it's fine! Were rolled with it and have opinions and wine! What more do you need really??

Writing this description reminds me (Laura) a bit of when my hairdresser asked me yesterday what James Joyce's Ulysses is about. Lord knows but it's still enjoyable! (this episode more so than Joyce rambling for 800 pages straight) Anyway, we'll see you next month for actual ~cottage core~ with Anne of Green Gables. (don't think that discusses communism however??)

Only one way to find out!!!

  • Not going to lie we were all a bit shocked to see Harry Potter so grown up in Kill Your Darlings, so we did some background checking and decided to discuss On The Road for the month of June! We travel back to the 50's in America and are doing by our fave sash partner: Cat. Cat brings us ALL of the inside information from her 15 y/o tumblr experiences in regards to the BEAT generation and we all discuss and rank the hotness of these now dead people? It all makes sense, just give it a listen. Besides all the chaos there are so many deep and insightful discussion regarding poverty, race, sexuality and the forming of identity. (also some random appreciation for Kpop fans!)

Next month we will go full on communist going back to the 40's and discussing Animal Farm.

    We'll see you then!

  • I am incredibly sorry for that awful pun, but I do think it is slightly ironic that we planned an end of the world book during a global pandemic... Realism is popping off, truly. Anyway, this month we are joined by the lovely Ana who has had a slight present in all of our episodes anyway! Ana normally provides us with The Studio TM, but this month we are recording from the comfort of our bedrooms, (or closets if you are Amelia). We discuss Good Omens, which we all are wildly excited about and it might even be a new favourite book!!! Buckle in for a wild ride of actually really good literary analysis! We have Themes, Characters, Context and more?? Who knew!! Such a fun and interesting episode, if I may say so myself.

  • This month we are joined by Daphne, Laura's sister but also our good friend!!!, to discuss Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy by John le Carré and its film! (with that we mean mostly the film as it cleared a lot up for us) We really went out of comfort zones here in reading but were very grateful for it, we loved the book! We just had the problem that we had no clue as to what was going on, but the film exists and saved us!!!! Listen to us rave about 90% of the most well known white male actors in Britain and link this all back to spies, and wait who was the spy again?? A solid quarantine episode, filled with analysis and tangents as always.

Join us next month to discuss Good Omens and its TV series with our friend Ana! In the meantime follow us on instagram for more regular updates ;)

  • It is our third episode already! We are joined by two of Amelia's high school friends (and also Laura's current friends;)): Chloe and Freya, who are more prepared than we are. It makes our most organised episode yet, maybe. Filled with amusing tangents, we still manage to discuss the major themes of the book AND movie (*ahem* film, sorry Freya). We cover historical context, the entire cast, and the BEAUTIFUL scenery, while also criticising what the film lacked (spoiler alert: it is surprisingly well done). As this was recorded pre-quarantine time, we both had a wonderful time editing and reminiscing in the times when we could still see our friends, but now you all will have plenty of time to give this a listen IN isolation! (Stay home kids!!)

Next month we will still be going strong and will bring you a home-recorded episode on Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, with special guest, Laura's sister, Daphne! So in the meantime, read the book, watch the film, and follow us on instagram for more regular content ;)

  • *tw: sexual assault discussion from 18:00 to 21:00*

In our second episode we discuss Philip k. Dick's 1960's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? better known as Blade Runner. This time we are joined by our friend and colleague Jonas!! Listen to us slowly descend into madness after a night of no sleep and too much Oscars. The episode follows this trend as we discuss the important aspects of the novel, as well as our Oscar highlights (and least favourite moments *ahem*). Next month we will discuss The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society with Freya and Chloe. Our instagram will have more updates and introductions in the meantime! Join us there as well!

  • Our very first official episode! We discuss our shortest work of the year and delve into the 1920's! Listen to us discuss The Waste Land by T.S. Eliot through means of musical numbers and lack of theories or geographical understanding. As it is our very first book episode we decide to take this one on with just the two of us... You can see how that went. (No we are actually really proud and excited to share this little gem) I'd say it is a solid hour of us geeking out over words and waters, what more could you want??

Join us again in February for "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" joined by our lovely friend and colleague Jonas!

In the meanwhile, we will keep you all updated on our instagram @timeturnercollective, we will see you in the past ;)

  • Our very first baby of an episode! There is no discussion of literature yet but we discuss ourselves, also very important of course! Join us as we discuss what the plan is for this show in the coming year (2020), introduce ourselves, and give a little explanation as to what books we picked and why. The start of an adventure!
