  • Interview with Jennifer Yen

Starting her career as TV villainess on the hit TV show ‘Power Rangers,’ Jennifer Yen faced troubled skin after wearing heavy makeup for 15-hour days on set, under bright lights, performing action scenes. Almost ten years later, after giving birth to her daughter, Jennifer once again developed skin issues ranging from eczema and rosacea to adult acne.

During this time, Jennifer’s mother recommended she follow the 2,000-year-old practice she once followed rooted in Chinese Medicine referred to as “Sitting the Month,” in English —  In which a new mother sits out for the month after childbirth to rest and heal her body by integrating Superfoods into her daily life. Not only did this energize Jennifer, but it also brought vitality and radiance back into her skin!

Inspired by her Asian heritage and her personal journey with skin and hair challenges, Jennifer has built a reputation for creating products that combine ancient traditions with modern innovations. Her entrepreneurial journey began with Purlisse, a skincare line that has become a trusted staple for its gentle, effective solutions. She followed this success with Yensa, a makeup brand infused with superfoods, designed to bridge the gap between skincare and cosmetics. Now, with Jooy, Jennifer is turning her attention to scalp health, offering innovative products with the goal of bridging the gap between skincare and haircare. Jooy’s science-backed formulas reflect Jennifer’s commitment to addressing often-overlooked areas of beauty care.

Dr. Bloom’s commitment to hair restoration inspired the creation of Hairapy, a revolutionary line that targets hair loss directly at the scalp and follicle level, where hair loss actually occurs.

Hairapy has a distinctive clinically proven delivery system featuring Bioadapt8 technology, a patent-pending blend of eight active, completely natural ingredients.  Hairapy currently includes a Densifying Shampoo, Conditioner, and Scalp Serum, all designed for various skin and scalp types.

Bioadapt8 targets the hair follicle and then works to repair, nourish, and strengthen the delicate hair follicles, activating the shift from the resting stage to the growth phase. Hairapy is the first and only system that is specially formulated, based on the patient’s skin and scalp type for a truly custom solution, made for you. The result? Healthy hair growth and reduced loss in the future– no appointment, injection, or chemical treatment needed.

Nicky Clarke is a highly acclaimed British hairstylist and brand founder, known for his skills and creativity, which have propelled him to become a sought-after name in the industry. Nicky discovered his talent for hairstyling at a young age. At 16, he seized an opportunity to apprentice at the prestigious House of Leonard where he  worked alongside the renowned John Frieda. By 17, he was already lending his skills to his first British Vogue shoot.

For over a decade, Nicky worked with John Frieda, splitting his time between the salon and shoots for major publications all the while helping to develop  the Frizz Ease brand.  During this time, Nicky became one of the most in-demand and highest-paid hairdressers in the UK, creating iconic looks for stars such as Duran Duran, Brooke Shields, and Diana Ross.

Together, they opened the first Nicky Clarke salon in London's prestigious Mayfair district, with the Duchess of York presiding over the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The salon became the place to be for those seeking the best of haircuts, coloring, styling, and treatments.

Its success cemented Nicky's status as a premier hairstylist and elevated him to a household name in the UK. His clientele is a star-studded lineup including royalty, supermodels, pop icons, and A-list celebrities, counting Princess Diana, David Bowie, the Beatles (Paul, George and Ringo), Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller, Brad Pitt, Eddie Redmayne, Kate Moss, Christian Bale, Naomi Campbell, Penelope Cruz, George Michael, Isabella Rossellini and, Donatella Versace among his past and current Clients.

His artistic vision has graced the runways of Givenchy, Versace, Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, and numerous others.  He’s won countless awards throughout his career and impressively, in 2008, Her Majesty the Queen honored him with the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in acknowledgment of his significant contributions to the hairdressing industry and outstanding service to the community.
