In this inspiring conversation, Maesha (Co-founder of Green & Beyond Mag) chats with Marinel Sumook Ubaldo, a young Filipino climate activist who isn’t afraid to speak up for the planet. She is one of the leading climate activists in Asia who also helped to organize the first-ever youth climate strike in her country, the Philippines.
Marinel’s life was just like a movie in a tropical paradise until her life suddenly changed forever when she had to witness the terrors of climate change firsthand in 2013, as Super Typhoon Haiyan wiped out her country, taking away lives of thousands and homes of millions of people. Disappointed at the crisis response from their government at the time, she decided to speak up and has since become one of the leading climate activists in the world. Today, she’s an advocate for climate justice and environmental issues and also a registered social worker.
Since her story has touched thousands of lives and inspired so many young people to speak up for our planet, today, in this inspirational conversation, we talk about Marinel's incredible journey, and her insights on how we can all maintain a positive mindset or practice climate optimism to move forward and keep taking meaningful actions. Enjoy!

Tom is the host of the Good Hustle social enterprise design course, which has graduated over 200 social enterprise founders. In this colorful and creative conversation Alexandra chats with Jakob Trollbäck.
Jakob Trollbäck is the main architect behind the language and visual identity of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals, launched in 2015. He is also one of the initiators of the Inner Development Goals, a framework of individual skills and qualities needed to accelerate the work toward Agenda 2030.

In this conversation we talk about things such as why all our best ideas come in the shower, but also how we are all part of biodiversity. As well as the impact of artist Jenny Holzer’s sign from 1982 that said “Protect Me From What I Want” and the story of how Jakob together with Richard Curtis (yes the fabulous British screen writer that wrote films such as Love Actually, Four Weddings and A Funeral, and Bridget Jones’s Diary) approached the development of the SDGs together.

Imagine if every kid had the opportunity to act on their dreams. A world where someone saw them, believed in them, and gave them the skills to go after those dreams. In this podcast episode, Alexandra chats with Paul Dreisbach from Petrichor, an organization in Cameroon building capacity, framework, and models of sustainable growth through football.
Paul has worked with partners like LaLiga, Liverpool FC, SoCal, Portland Timbers, Nike, and Adidas through his consultancy work mainly in the space where sport, purpose & profitability meet.
Tune in and get insights on the world of sports, how it provides opportunities for kids from all different backgrounds, and the difficulties of getting the support, funding, and sponsorship for women’s football. We also talk about the challenges of recognizing privilege and how to help solve problems that you historically were part of creating. As well as how perhaps we can't change our biases but what we can do is to try and not act from them.
Finally, we discuss how society plays such a big role in what we deem risky and not. Many of us dive headfirst into marriage (said to have a 50% success rate) but spend our entire life building up the courage to make small steps towards a dream like changing careers or building a business. Kind of crazy!

What if you started an accidental business birthed from you trying to live as sustainable as possible? Inspiration is underrated and we impact people around us more than we think. In this podcast episode, Alexandra chats with Lisa Booth from Booken Blend. Lisa is a mother of 4, with over 20 years of experience in home and community sustainability projects and has a strong belief in grassroots movements and their true ability to drive positive change.
In 2016, Lisa & her husband designed and constructed an off-grid home infused with passive design principles and built on a modest budget. Their home sparked such a widespread curiosity and interest that it led Lisa to establish Booken Blend, a resource for everyday folks wanting to build purposeful, eco-friendly homes on a budget.
Tune in and get insights on some truly simple ways that we can build or remodel our homes in a low impact way, the importance of seeing our homes as ecosystems, and how innovative we can get as humans when we are pushed beyond our comfort zones.
Finally, we discuss imposter syndrome at its finest, that perhaps climate change needs a more positive rebrand and storytelling, as well as the challenges of changing your offerings from something that is free to a paid offering. Lastly, no message is served well if you burn out along the way so make sure to prioritize that walk in nature today.

“It’s a good cause…or is it?”Is a charity worth supporting if it continues to exist perpetually? When does a charity ever end? In this podcast episode, Alexandra chats with Weh Yeoh about the social impact work he has done for close to two decades in his home country of Australia and internationally, and of course the journey of writing his first book “Redundant Charities.” He is the founder of OIC Cambodia, an initiative that aims to establish speech therapy as a profession in Cambodia.
He started OIC in 2013, and handed over leadership to a local Cambodian team in 2017. He has since co-founded Umbo, a social enterprise bridging the gap for rural Australians to access allied health services. Weh has also volunteered trying to help people with disabilities in Vietnam, interned in India, studied Mandarin in Beijing, and milked yaks in Mongolia.
Tune in and get insights on his personal story being brought up by parents from Malaysia and great grandparents from China, his take on what he thinks the charity sector could do better, and the three great tips he gives on how he works on making sure he separates his work identity from his personal identity.
Finally, Weh gives us the nugget to try and do one thing differently: When we see a problem we are moved to act by compassion and emotion. When we decide what to do next there is a little moment between reaction to action and that is when the rational side of a human being needs to come in. It can't be about doing something just to do something.

Is it possible to create impact by building community? Can you do so by starting where you are at and without a bunch of fancy tech tools? In this podcast episode, Alexandra chats with Abbey Pantano from the Impact Collab about her aim to build the most connective community in the world.
We talk about how important it is especially for purpose led businesses and founders to show a healthy way of leading a life and a business that is sustainable, impactful and profitable to encourage others to join in on the journey. Is there anything that will light up a room like a bunch of flowers? How come that we in the digital world are lonelier than ever? According to a Harvard study, a single act of kindness a day directly impacts 125 people. In this podcast episode, Alexandra chats with Deanna Kitchen from the Growing Kindness Project about how this realization got her thinking and eventually got her starting what is now the Growing Kindness Project. A non profit that now leads a global team of over 2500 gardeners and farmers who are on a mission to change the world with kindness, one stem at a time. Deanna talks about how the book Essentialism made her bravely step away from certain areas of her farm, use her strengths to truly support her values, and how her biggest and most current dream is to equip children with tools, inspiration and bravery to join the Kindness Project. Tune in and get inspiration on how it only takes one person to create change, how community truly can amplify a message, and how often what we are looking for is very near to us.

What would it look like if we had all sectors involved, including the public sector, civil society, entrepreneurs, and large corporations to solve society's most pressing issues? Perhaps we don't need to compete with each other but instead work alongside each other? In this podcast episode, Alexandra chats with Sofia Breitholtz from Reach for Change on why businesses should be involved in social change and how we are all daily choosing the world that we want to live in by the way we are spending and saving our money. Sofia talks about how growing up seeing huge inequalities led her to do purposeful work and how important the grassroots movement truly is. Tune in and get inspiration on the importance of nourishing curiosity for social change and what that can look like. For example mobile libraries in Ghana or making inclusive dolls in Sweden. Is the narrative we hear on climate change rather one sided? Should we lend the mic to the people mainly affected by the climate crisis? However, could it be more beneficial to us all if we spread the word on climate optimism rather than using the word crisis? In this podcast episode, Alexandra chats with Shoummo & Maesha from Green & Beyond Mag about how they started their multimedia platform in their native Bangladesh. How Green & Beyond Mag came before they actually got married and the ups & downs on that journey. The couple talks about how Bangladesh was the first country (in 2009) to submit their goals to the United Nations regarding the climate action plan and how South Asians are expected to lose five years from their life expectancy if current high pollution levels persist.
Tune in and get insight on why it is important to use a positive narrative speaking about these issues and that if we keep educating ourselves we can do more, and that all individual actions matter.
