A former resident of The Lord's Ranch goes into graphic detail of what I believe to be the most disturbing interview ever shared on this podcast. Due to the length of our exchange, this podcast has been broken up into two episodes. There will be moments of silence due to necessary pauses in the conversation. -

Nathan Harmon went to The Lord's Ranch for two years in the 90's. In this emotionally charged episode, we discuss his experience-- including stories about former staff who are still affiliated with industries involving children. This included Emmett Presley, Gary Jackson, and several others.

Michael Robinson went to The Lord's Ranch in the late 90's/early 2000's. If you've been listening to previous episodes, you've heard his name mentioned more than once.
Michael Robinson is now the first person to go on record about an elderly male counselor who allegedly routinely pursued sexual intercourse with young black residents. Mike goes into detail about where and what his counselor allegedly attempted to do. He also goes into detail about his counselor apologizing profusely when Mike wouldn't allow him to touch him inappropriately.
He also tells of how he immediately reported the incident to two staff members named Gary Jackson and Steve Marlow. Despite the alleged attempted solicitation of a minor, the staff member remained employed by The Lord's Ranch for years to come. Mike was simply given a different counselor to solve the problem.
I've heard numerous stories about this counselor--nearly identical-- from multiple people, but nobody wanted to go on record about it.....until now. Mike hopes that sharing his experience will encourage others to come forward about his former counselor, Emmett Alden Presley--AKA Mr. P.

In Part 2 of this interview, Alex delves into physical abuse for refusing to say he was a Christian. He also discusses multiple instances of sexual misconduct, and he shares a very personal story that will quite possibly bring you to tears.
This was a very heartbreaking episode and while interviewing, I personally had trouble maintaining my emotional composure.

This is the first of a series of interview segments in what turned out to be the longest podcast we've done to date. It's a roller coaster of emotions, violence, sexual abuse, and more. There will be more episodes to come until this entire interview is concluded.

Kelly Green worked at one of Ted Suhl's numerous Arkansas outpatient facilities as a clinician. She volunteered to share her time with us and told us about multiple ethically questionable business tactics utilized by Ted Suhl. They had marketers planted at schools and courthouses who were incentivized to bring kids into The Lord's Ranch and/or Arkansas Counseling Associates. (This was the name of their outpatient treatment offices spread throughout the state.)
This conversation provided us with some fascinating insider information. In reading large portions of the court transcripts from Ted's fraud/bribery case, I find none of the information to be particularly surprising. The only part that truly shocks me is that they were allowed to use these business tactics at all. (But then again, I've seen them get away with worse.)
This office was unlike any place she had worked at in the past. She worked there until the FBI's case against Ted Suhl essentially pancaked Suhl's entire psychiatric treatment operation like an M-1A1 Abrams flattening cars during the WACO standoff.
At any rate, I also added a homework assignment for our listeners at the end of this episode. I'm hoping that this conversation will help provide insight to our listeners. And I also hope I can count on our listeners to help us answer the two questions I ask in this episode
I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did. Kelly is a wealth of knowledge and I'm extremely grateful for her participation! :)

On February 13, 1995, Robert Westerhoff and Christopher Chandler escaped The Lord’s Ranch in a staff vehicle after a staff member left their keys out. Robert was known for being an escape artist from facilities and he took advantage of the keys being left behind. After driving 100 miles, he fell asleep at the wheel and drove off into a large ravine. Robert died in that accident and Chris was airlifted to a hospital with a ruptured spleen. Terry Westerhoff was Roberts's younger brother. Terry wants to get the message out to everyone that The Lord's Ranch was an inadequate facility. The staff member's inexperience made them ill-prepared to properly run a residential treatment facility. But cheap labor and staff ignorance was purposely chosen over expensive tenured employees, and obeying the law.

Kyle Jensen alleges a staff member punched him in the face over and over again when he was only ten years old. The staff failed to remember that Kyle was scheduled to see his parents the next day. Once Jason remembered, it was too late. The immense damage was done--Black eyes, busted lips, etc. Kyle Jensen only stayed at The Lord's Ranch for a month because a staff member named Jason thought he could get away with beating a ten-year-old like a grown man. Fortunately for Kyle, his parents were there the next day to see the carnage on his face. The ranch's nurse actually tried to claim they were self-inflicted wounds. It seemed like yet another pathetic attempt to make the ranch seem like an innocent facility. They must have the worst luck imaginable if even 10% of their explanations are true.

Salem had nowhere to go. Due to problems at home, he would be bounced from facility to facility and was essentially taken care of by the state. Of the locations, he had to stay, without hesitation, Salem says The Lord's Ranch was the worst of them all. In his own words, his stay at The Lord's Ranch "fucked him up."

Pasha Bell was a victim of sexual assault at the young age of 12. Because of this, she acted out and was sent to The Lord's Ranch for treatment.
Allegedly, during her weekly phone call with her family, she began asking to come back home. As a result, Pasha said a staff member disconnected her phone call without warning. Pasha said she cried as a result and when she got back to her Ranch bedroom, she was stripped down to her underwear by a large male and female staff member. She tried to fight them off to no avail. A nurse gave her a shot of Thorazine and she says she lost consciousness almost immediately. She was carried from her bedroom by her hands and legs in front of the entire house and was placed in an empty quiet room; wearing nothing but her underwear--not even a bra. As a recent sexual assault survivor, this was extremely traumatic for her. They left her drugged and unconscious while lying on the floor exposed through a window of a locked quiet room until around 3am.
The drug they injected her with was so powerful, she was unable to go to school the next morning. She shares this story and much more about her time spent at The Lord's Ranch.

Kevin Maxwell had years of experience helping people with mental health and substance abuse problems. Considering The Lord's Ranch routinely hired people with absolutely zero experience, it seemed like he would be a shoo-in for the job they were hiring for. Is it possible that he knew too much and represented a threat to the illegal company culture?

Brad Wallace tells us his story about being at The Lord's Ranch. From staff allowing residents to assault him, to a violent male staff member sexually assaulting him, this was a difficult time in his life. His courage to come forward with his story is admirable and takes tremendous courage.
We're all proud of him for overcoming what was a horrendous experience in his life. Brad Wallace is letting other male victims that they aren't alone.
He should be proud of himself.

In this episode, we speak to Jane Robertson about her experience as a church member at Living Water Worship Center--a cult-like church in Arkansas with multiple connections to The Lord's Ranch.
I won't give away many details, but I will say this....The reaction to the seizure freaked me out the most. Some people are so hindered by delusion that it can be fatal.
I'll never understand this thought process and quite frankly, I'm glad I won't.

When a child was stuck at The Lord's Ranch while her Mom was terminally ill with cancer, Nurse Jessica Sheets gave her a brilliant loophole that had the young girl back at home within days. But the amazingly kind gesture didn't come without its consequences. I think every facility needs a nurse like Jessica Sheets.

In this episode, Jayme shares her experience with Medicaid fraud while working in the office and what she believes were three large staff members beating up a smaller kid in a shed. A long-time office employee told her that all phone calls were recorded (similar to how kids were told the classrooms were bugged when they were interviewed by people in suits in 2006.) She also talks about how often she saw planes land at the ranch after I brought up Mike Huckabee's weekly visits to meet with Bud Suhl.
You know we often say this place was like a federally funded cult? Jayme said the speaker at their mandatory office worker bible study said the following:
"The world is coming to an end. And we have 3,000 acres. And we are up on this hill. And you ALL will be saved. Nobody else will."
What does that sound like to you? Perhaps a quote from Charles Manson or David Koresh? That place was a federally funded cult owned by a felony con artist.
I also provide an update on some of our recent findings and experiences with this investigation at the end:
1. I finally found out the true catalyst to how I and some other boys ended up in Level 1. And it wasn't what I thought.
2. The Ranch used to build lakes on their property and even landed planes in them. I learned about this after bringing up the frequent visits from Mike Huckabee-- former governor known for spending order a quarter million on renting private planes and also for flying in the Arkansas Police Plane--The Beachfront 200, which is known for its ability to land on uneven ground in short distances.
3. A longtime office worker claimed that every landline on the ranch was tapped and recorded
The 2006 raid may not have been the FBI although we initially thought it was. We haven't confirmed who conducted it, but there was an entity of people in suits that did show up and investigate the ranch by asking the kids questions. Multiple kids have reported being told by staff that the room was bugged by the ranch before they could be interviewed.
4. The FBI definitely raided the ranch later on (I believe in 2012.) This may have been connected to Ted’s financial crimes that he allegedly claimed were a set up by Former President Barrack Obama to persecute Christians.
5. The rumors surrounding Philander Kirk’s death and whether or not they have any validity. I also speculate on why the Ranch would even want to cover up the true details and if some people knew, wouldn’t there be some charges and a news story to go along with it?
6. I spoke with Roderick after releasing the podcast. In this episode, I'll update you on where he, and I stand.

Roderick is the first staff member who is willing to come on the show while stating that he feels The Lord's Ranch was a good place. I found this quite admirable.
For those who listen to this podcast, I want you to remember that we're all humans and we all make mistakes; and most importantly we all have our low points in life.
I enjoyed talking to Roderick and I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation.
I'd like to apologize ahead of time for some of the communication issues Roderick and I had while we spoke over the phone. I believe there's about an eight-minute stretch of buzzing noises and the audio kind of cuts high and low. I'm not sure if that stems from the battery issue on Roderick's iPhone or something on my side but I want you to know that I'm aware of it and I'll see there if there's any way to fix it and upload an improved file. I think I should be able to figure it out.
Thank you for your support for all of the victims who have shown the courage to come forward with their stories.
And a special thanks to Roderick Shy for having the courage to come on and have a conversation. He took time out of his day to do that interview and that was very kind of him.
